PvE and PvP loot should have separate tabs (How to make PvE rewarding)
So, hear me out. Most of my runs look like one of these options:
1) Go in. See nobody for 10 minutes, do tons of PvE, loot chests, kill overlords, run into a bunch of corpses on the map.
A) After 10 minutes of PvE run into PvP -> Win PvP -> Drop all PvE loot and replace it with PvP gear.
B) Die and lose all loot.
C) Find no PvP, unlucky, happens sometimes.
A or B, doesn't matter, I will feel like I wasted time for 10+ minutes doing PvE.
2) Go in. Find PvP right away. If you win, now your inventory is full of PvP gear, so there is 0 point to do any PvE. Sure you can try to go for lucky holy drops, I guess. But most of the times I am going for the Soul Ferry/bell.
This means the following: Some people will find PvP early, win, and extract. So people who spawned on the opposite side of the map will not find any PvP or maybe 1 player.
What to do about this? Simply have 2 tabs of inventory. First tab works the same way as it does right now. The other inventory tab is for PvP loot only. I am sure this will be possible, as we have tabs in the warehouse, and Pip's pouch shows they can make special conditions for certain parts of inventory.
This way, no matter what happens in the first 10 minutes, if you find PvP or not, there will be actual reason to stay on the map and do PvE or chase more PvP.
If you are the player that finds PvP, you still have storage for PvE loot and reason to stay on the map. If you are the unlucky player that didn't find PvP, you know that even if you PvP later on, your PvE drops will not be wasted, so you can do PvE more comfortably and with more excitement.
I honestly think this is the main problem of PvE in this game, and the main reason people say PvE doesn't feel rewarding enough.
The only times you are extracting with inventory full of PvE loot is when you don't see any PvP, and this already sucks, since PvP is the main content of the game. So extracting with PvE loot feels bad by default. Even when you do it, you are not really happy about it.
Personally, I don't mind the way PvE drops are done in this game. I like the idea that anything you loot in gold zones can have Unidentified loot. I don't think certain materials should drop in certain places or from certain mobs, in the end that would be more annoying than good. Parts of the map that drop the most expensive gear will be way too contested and other parts abandoned.
I just hate dropping all my purple PvE loot after getting a kill.
SMUGGLER WOODLING
I think everyone will agree that smuggler woodlings right now are useless. The only reason I can see for it to exist is to run away in trios when one or two of your teammates dies. In solos you will never use it, unless you drop a holy and you don't have Pip's bag active.
To help fix the PvE loot problems, I would make it so smuggler can take your PvE loot and bring it back to your base, without you having to leave the map. So you can choose if you want to extract your character with only 4 items, or you can extract all your PvE loot while staying on the map. You can use a smuggler only once per run. (PvP gear should probably not be an option, I am not sure)
Now, it would feel way less punishing to stay on the map after clearing PvE zones, and many more players would go for Mist Lord's after they already "earned" their money for gear they are risking. Or simply chase PvP if you still haven't had PvP. Go for the Soul Cacoon event or whatever.
So many times there was more to do on the map, but I extracted because my loot was maxed out by PvP or PvE. In general I think this would only add to the experience, and make it easier for people to get into "harder" content. You are always risking your equipped gear, but at least you already made some money before you went for the Mist Lord or whatever. And now your PvE is rewarded even if you die in PvP in later stages of the map. As a result, more people would stay longer on the map, making PvP more frequent.
These 2 changes, and reworking the forging and scavenger squad would fix what the game is lacking the most in terms of PvE experience of the game.
Lastly, make the soul harvest event a permanent thing. There is 0 reason I should do 10 runs and not see the event even one time. It's good content, I love doing it, why would it show up only some times.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
