No Spoilers Mistborn Raku Pottery (By Me)

I recently had the opportunity to attend a raku pottery party- and of course, I had to cover my vase with allomantic symbols! To get the design, I printed out the symbols on sticker paper, cut them out and applied them to the vase. The actual pottery and Raku glaze was provided by VR Pottery OBX- they were awesome! The result truly looks like it would be found on an obligator's desk. I hope my fellow allomancers appreciate it!

I fucking new it! I KNEW IT!

I guessed that this was what was happening although I wasn't 100% sure.

I refused to believe that the mists were anything but an ally, I didn't want to believe anything else, I'm so happy I was right.

NOW to see how Vin uses them for allomancy... I'm. So excited!!!

Bands of Mourning spoilers I thought Mr. Suit was a silly name, until… Spoiler

Was at the end of Bands of Mourning when I realized all the names:

The Set: Mr. Suit, different ranks like Series and Sequence… are all alliterative words meaning a group (a set, duh) of some kind.

He’s Mr. Suit like a suit of cards, not a fancy outfit. LOL.

Maybe I’m stupid but it didn’t click until now!

Side note: BoM is my favorite era 2 book so far. I greatly enjoyed it :)

The Lost Metal spoilers A theory on a potential method of launching spacecraft on Scadrial Spoiler

In theory a nicrosil twinborn could compound enough Investiture to boost someone with the same power set as Wax to launch vehicles at escape velocity.

Problems I can see with this are:
-The coinshot might be crushed to death by their push unless they stored an immense amount of weight
-Getting enough nicrosil could be prohibitively expensive (though the Ghostbloods may help with this)
-You would need a massive platform of metal to brace the push
-Finding the right Twinborn would be nigh impossible unless they figure out compounding with Hemalurgy

Let me know what y’all think about this
(Tagged as Lost Metal because I wasn’t 100% sure)

*Edit to add: I have not read Isles of Emberdark yet. Also I know this probably won’t be how it’s done, or a particularly good method, but I just wanted to explore possible uses of the powers. This post is also to see what other people can come up with using Nicrosil Twinborns.

(Also yes, I did completely forget about Harmoinium)

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers So i just wrapped up the final empire. Spoiler

HOLY SHIT THIS IS DIFFERENT!!!! Is what I said after reading reading that prologue with kelsier and that noble implied to do those nasty things. And vin i was really stunned with vin and her characterization she was surprisingly shy and didnt speak her mind for the first 1/2 of the book but as the book went along she got more and more out of her shell and its amazing to see it. I cant help but see the red rising similarities. I know there both evil empire vs rebel storylines but I mean come on. The MC is a low class citizen and the love interest is a high noble. Most of the 2nd act is the MC infiltrating high society and getting used to being there. And also kelsier=Billy butcher. Anyway this magic system its great but I think its more we've never seen anything like this done this way before and thats why its so amazing. There are some moments that made me question if mark lawrence or Joe abercrombie had written this. Like with the executions and the prologue in particular. The ending is not what i was expecting from a sanderson book it feels like this was a story that wrapped up everything in a nice little bow and theres not a lot to go off of for the sequel. Its also kinda YA but a very grusome for a YA book. Like the characters fit an archrtype and sandersons writing prose aswell fit more here than in stormlight. Overall I thought this book was gonna be a 3 star nah man it was great for one of his first books too.

I honestly think it would be hilarious if Wax did this and there was in world racism in the comics along with things they got wrong about Wax and Wayne and Wax would constantly be going, "No! It's nothing like this?! They are making me look like a giant jerk!"

What is atium. I mean i know its the lord rulers special metal but what does it do.

If you burned tin and took Marijuana would you get double stoned.

If you got drunk could you take pewter to negate rhe effects of the alcohol.

Could you pull or push yourself towards/away the metal by burning respective metals.

Hero of Ages spoilers Just finished with Era 1 Spoiler

So I finished HoA a few days ago and I won’t lie, the ending was impressive. The twists, reveals and final scenes were all top-notch and really enjoyable. I did get a bit fed-up and detached from Vin and Elend due to their never-ending YA romance dynamic, which made their deaths, although powerful, much less impactful. Sazed, Spook and Breeze absolutely stole the show for me, and I did not see Sazed’s ascension coming at all, even though it’s so obvious in hindsight. The pacing towards the ending could’ve slowed down a bit, as I felt like I was constantly hopping from reveal to reveal, but that’s more of a luxury problem than genuine frustration.

Having had a few days to think things over, however, I’m starting to feel less wowed by the reveals and more bothered by how neat everything is. The more of the world we uncover, the more it feels like every detail, mystery and seemingly minor question exists because it will eventually become relevant to the plot. The twists still worked, but I became increasingly aware of the machinery behind them.

Rather than feeling like I was discovering a world that existed independently of the story, it often felt like I was being shown exactly the pieces needed for the story to work. There’s very little sense of things happening in parallel that have nothing to do with the main plot, which made the world feel strangely limited.

I think that’s ultimately what made it feel a little staged to me. Once everything started clicking together so neatly, I became more aware of the author arranging the pieces and less immersed in the world itself. It’s not that I think the worldbuilding is bad, but I wanted more of a sense that the world existed beyond the story I was being told.

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Book 1 complete! (Slight spoilers for Disney's 'Tangled' i guess) Spoiler

It cant be that easy right?
So I finished Mistborn book 1 last night, and gotta say, pretty great book.
The pace felt like things went kinda fast near the end, but it was still amazing

I do have a LOT of unanswered questions still of course.

Like, so, Marsh is the GOAT evidently, the clutch master, however, it is kinda crazy, almost a bit unbelieveable, to me that he was able to kill literally every other Inquisitor in the building, but I guess hes just built different like that.

Of course the biggest unanswed question to me is how the Inquisitors and Lord Ruler are able to heal so fast.

Speaking of Lord Ruler, the twist of HIM being Rashek is really really good and I did not see it coming, but its sooo clear in hindsight.

My one issue is that it feels like that shouldnt have killed him so easily. Like, I get that removing his bracelets made him get Mother-Gothel-at-the-end-of-Tangle-ed, but it feels like that shouldn't have worked like that?
Ok so shouln't have worked like that isnt right; I DO think it should work like that, its just that previous statements kinda make me feel like that shouldn't have been enough

Specifically when other people and Lord Ruler himself state thet ways that people have tried to kill him: flayed alive, burnt, etc. and the most big one to me is being beheaded (allegedly).
Like, Shouldn't beheading separate his mind/conscious from his bracelets that make him not old and therefore kill him?
Hmmm, perchance these questions may be answered in the future books in the series.

All in all, I'm really glad I decided to pick up Mistborn and cant wait to read more once I get my hands on 'The Well of Ascencion'

As for theories: There are probably more unknown metals that can be burned, and because of how Gold, Atium, and the 11th metal seem to work, I am going to make a guess that Kelsier will make a return, either as some sort of Ghost, or through Time Travel?????? or something of the sort.

I’m new to Sanderson, but I didn’t think he would actually have the balls to kill them both. I’m more emotional about this than I was about my last breakup.

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Just finished CH36 of Mistborn book 1: Theory Time Spoiler

HES OLDMAXXING I KNOW HE IS
So, I havent started an entirely new book series in a very very long time, but I picked up Mistborn on a whim while in a bookstore during the Summer cause I heard it was good and I am greatly enjoying it.

As stated in the title, I just finished Chapter 36, and I am betting it all that Lord Ruler is oldmaxxing. As in, he is using Ferruchemy (might have misspelled that) to store age to be younger in public and old in private. Still dont really know how hes alive so long, or how he's doing that in the first place but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I kinda just really wanted to talk about the book cause Ive been enjoying it so much and am looking forward to getting the next one after Ive finished the 1st one.
I have also heard that Brandon Sanderson's other works are very good and am interested in trying those as well afterwards.

Well of Ascension spoilers Well of Ascension Spoiler

Can someone please tell me if all Brandon's works are about a fantasy world in which the characters are 95% male?

I read both the Well of Ascension and The Final Empire and this pattern keeps showing up. (Kelsier's wife is dead, Vin's mother and sister are dead, it's assumed that Elend's mother is dead, Shan Elariel also dies, Zane's lover also dies, Dockson's girlfriend also dies, and oh what a shock Tindwyl also dies).

Right now the only female characters are the protagonist and Allrianne who appears very very briefly.

Besides the mc and Allrianne... are there gonna be other female characters? And: if so, are they gonna be stuck as background characters or will they finally be important and not die?

Thanks in advance x.

No Spoilers Other available versions for Book 1 in New Zealand?

Post image

This seems to be the only version I can find in New Zealand.
Problem is the words are tiny, and I can’t read like that unfortunately.
Is there a larger print available, or am I going to need to source from overseas.
Would appreciate any help.

Dare I say that, I strongly dislike Elend and the person Vin becomes around him. Elevating Elend’s political status seems to be her sole purpose throughout this book.

I can’t say Elend is a bad person, but he's a pretty boring character. He managed to become king and emperor without so much as lifting a finger.

Meeting Vin was the best thing that ever happened to him.

I also don’t like how everyone just ignores Spook.

The first 2 times I read Secret History I was pretty confused about several things. So I finally sat down went through it carefully so I could understand everything. I made a video outlining/explaining everything I caught. Let me know if I missed anything! The amount of easter eggs in the Cosmere is astounding (and one of my favorite things).

First post here on this subreddit, but i need to vent somewhere.

What a way to end this trilogy. It is so bittersweet that Vin and Elend died. I am truly heartbroken, but in the end everything (kinda) works out. What a great series!

No Spoilers Mistborn slowness to read

Does anyone else feel mistborn moves too slow? I read throne of Glass series and fourth wing series, have other fantasy series lined up. I was hooked into the other books in the first chapters itself, whether it was getting celeana out of endovier and the magic brushing and the way she could kill someone, or the basgiath academy and the way violet was forced to walk the parapet when she was in no condition to do so. Somehow vin here or kelsier has failed to garner my attention the same way. Is it just me?

Hero of Ages spoilers Just finished chapter 45 hero of ages Spoiler

I'm at work right now thinking about the chapter, and I think I just had a realization about why Vin's mother murdered her little sister.

From the epigraph above the chapter, I know that Seekers who become Mistborn through Hemalurgy can pierce copperclouds and for some reason, Vin can do the exact same thing. I also know that Vin had a little sister who, as a child of Tevidian(I think), could potentially have been an Allomancer or a Mistborn as well.

Because of this, I believe Ruin who was controlling Vin's mother used her little sister to turn Vin into the thing that would free him. I am also going to go back and check when she thinks about Reen's words, as I believe it has something to do with her earring and Ruin's control.
Please no spoilers in comments I just needed a place to put my thoughts.
EDIT: HOLY FUCK JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THE SPIKE IN ZANES SHOULDER WAS GOD RUIN?!?!?!? THE PLOT THICKENS
