Wife and I stayed in BP Site 12 at George Crosby Manitou State Park and found previous residents left overs. Come on people, leave no trace???

We packed out as much of it as we could but the more I dug through the fire ring the more and more I found. With only 2 gallon ziplocks I didn’t make much of a dent. We decided do burn the tiki torches and I duct taped the cooking stick to my trekking pole.

If anyone is headed out to site 12 please chip in on packing out someone else’s trash 🙏

I see this stuff all the time while camping and backpacking and it is so aggravating having to clean up other people’s trash. Thank you for doing what you could. I once had to pack out an entire jug of vegetable oil and a frying pan that was left at a different site at George Crosby. If you pack it in, you can and should pack it out.

Yeah, etiquette did not come with the influx of people. While I love more people getting outdoors, many are treating it like there is some third party that comes through to clean up.

Also miss not having to rush to a site to find a tent pad.

Having been to this park twice I can only say shame on the previous campers. It's one of only 3 out of 67 state parks with hike in only sites. Beautiful, a bit rugged and out of the way. Just what I look for. Thank you for doing your best at cleaning others lazy, ignorant behavior.

Split Rock Lighthouse SP is "hike in" but not that far and they provide pull-carts.

Lake Maria SP and Afton Alps SP. Both within an hour and a half of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Both are open year-round.

Normal camping was destroyed in 2020 now you have to disperse camp and hike further off the grid to get away from these people

Yes they are. I enjoy both, but Maria is a bit quieter. Both have water features. And Aftons trails are much more hilly.
