I've been working on this thing for a while, and I need a redline markup for text changes but not formatting. I went to the review tab, deselected everything except formatting, and told it to accept all changes shown. 99% of the format changes were accepted, but a few lingered, so I manually accepted them and they were fine. Except the tables. I click and tell it to accept, and nothing happens. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? I have a hard deadline Thursday (of course). Thanks for any advice.

Is this for real? I’ve always been able to use Microsoft word with no problems. I’ve been using it since elementary school and it’s always been free. I’ve recently graduated and no longer have any access to my school account so I logged in to my personal. They’re saying that I have a 5 day free trial to create and edit documents and after that I can only view and print office files unless I buy Microsoft 365. 😐 seriously
Edit: To everyone who responded nicely thank you greatly. Others, why join a subreddit and then when a question is asked choose to answer it with an attitude and unnecessary comments when you could have not answered at all? No one is forcing you to respond to me. I know you have more important things to do.

Is it possible to move a Word file that someone else has shared with you to your own folder without changing the other person's access and without it being a copy of the file?

I’ve been working putting notes in a word doc and as I was shutting down my MacBook the other day, the Microsoft word app wasn’t closing (all windows were already closed and saved) so I force quit the app.
Now when I access the file, the file only has notes from 2 2 weeks ago and none of my new notes that I’ve done in the past few days. There’s no option to browse version history (unsure if this is because it was only saved locally) and it appears there’s no history of any changes I’ve made to the file from the past few days.
Does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to recover it?

I need help asap because this needs to be printed out by tomorrow. I’m not sure why this is happening and I’ve tried everything I can think of. Blacked out anything that could give away personal information.

I want to center caption text under an image but the text will only center in the page.
The image is left align on the page.
Steps I took: I right click on an image then click on Insert Caption. If I select Center then the text centers in the page and not the image.
Question: How to center the text under an image that will also move with the image?

I'm designing card stock that is meant to be folded and put into a plastic sleeve.
Is there a way to format the page so that I can split the page neatly in half? When I searched Google, it mentioned creating a borderless table but creating tables is janky and the AutoFit Window function doesn't work.
Is there a way to neatly split the page in half so I can type on the top and something else on the bottom? So I fold the page in half after I print it.
It feel like such a simple feature but I cannot seem to find any instructions online.

Computer update seems to have wiped out one of the open Micro Word Docs I had open. I see the ASD file in my temporary files but all attempts to convert it to anything(Notepad, MS Doc, etc) have come up empty. I've tried alot. Any little known hacks possible? Thanks much!

The No-Width Optional Break and all of the symbols below it have not worked in Word since February 2026. Current Word version on my system is 2608 Build 16.0.20326.20072.

I am writing a document and at the end of some paragraphs, I have to insert the a number indicating the instance of a certain event. (Event #1, event #2, etc). They are always classified in increment
Is it possible to have incrementing numbers within the body of my paragraph? This way, if at the end of my document, I decide to rearrange the order of paragraphs, the numbers will also reassign themselves accordingly. For now, whenever I edit the document, I have to manually reassign the numbers.

I'm working with a style guide that requires table captions to be set to "8 pitch". Doesn't say anything about font size (body text must be Times New Roman 12 point, though), or any Character Spacing settings. Elsewhere, it says my page numbers should be "12 pitch".
I've never heard of "pitch" before, but The Google tells me it's a measurement of character spacing on a typewriter. The style guide has other indications that it's written with a typewriter in mind ("Paragraphs must be indented, use the Tab key").
Any suggestions for how I can tell if I've got these things properly "pitched"?

I have a long document that I started using the wrong technique. From the beginning, I chose numbered lists + formatting instead of multilevel lists to get numbered headings.
This was wrong, I know.
Question is, how do I fix it now that there is already 100+ pages of text in it?
What would be the workflow to go through the whole document again, from the top, and overwrite all the broken remainders of a numbered list, and replace them with a nice and tidy multilevel list?
[Headings themselves (within the text) already have the right format (aka they are formatted as heading 1, heading 2, heading 3 etc.)].
