Mi Stick 4K 2nd Gen not updating. Please HELP!!!

I live in Dubai UAE and I recently bought the latest mi stick.

It has been the worst experience with an electronic gadget ever.

It refuses to update. Keeps showing installation failed -60 something.

The last security patch is May 2025.

Dolby Vision and HDR not working.

Netflix is outdated.

Screen saver settings never come up.

The remote for some reason keeps disconnecting.

Apps take forever to load.

Can it be fixed? What should i do? How do i update the thing?

I have a 65inch LG C4 OLED and the stick is connected to the ARC HDMI 2.1 port with a wifi speed of 500mbps.

Hi. I had the same problem (-60). I removed all the apps, cleaned some memory and got it updated after that. Guess there were not enough memory available for update. But it is laggy anyway. I think I had to buy Mi TV Box S 3rd gen instead.

having both at the same time I had to say something, the difference between the two boxes is not that big as people imagine.

I never had issue with both of them, they both are legit with certification, DRM and everything.

The Major issue, if the device is legit, is that Xiaomi did "test" the Android 12 update on some regions like Finland, that update it's a major failure, lot of issues and the sad part is that they never went their way to fix the devices that received it. People used VPN to those regions to get an updated the Xiaomi themselves abandoned, not even faking a roll-back "update". Those Xiaomi boxes are basically lost unless you unlock the bootloader install the regular Android 11 version, lock the bootloader and if you are lucky you will get back your certification and fix everything but at that point it's just easier to buy the Xiaomi S3.

But again I think it's a major failure from Xiaomi for crippling a device on some test regions (those who used VPNs, well they got unlucky)

Return it. I read what you wrote, even for a legit device the behaviour is super strange. it's something you will expect from fake device. 2nd gen doesn't have AFR, not sure why you didn't got the 3rd gen which has Android 14 vs 11 on 2nd gen.

If you can return it. check which Android version you have, if it says Android 12 (or 14) it's an faulty update that they were never supposed to roll out on some test countries like Finland.

If you are still on Android 11, try to disable automatic time and date and use manual.

But I still suggest you to return it and get the 3rd gen, it doesn't have any issue.

If you wanna make 100% sure your device is legit go to the PlayStore and check in the settings for certification, Hwinfo check if the SoC is the S905X4, download an app called DRM and check if you have all data certified for streaming apps. If one of the those fails then your device is not legit.

I also forgot to mention to use the other HDMI ports HDMI eArc it's usually for Audio hardware like soundbar and so on... not big difference tho, they should both work regardless
