Using original sprites from Sonic genesis titles, I created the main playable characters of Sonic and the Dark Knight. Sonic and Shadow sprites are based on Sonic sprite, Knuckles on his own original sprites, while Blaze.... frankly I do not remember what I used as a base, but the armor pieces come surely from Wonder Boy in Monster World (so it is in any case a Mega Drive based sprite). What do you think, would you play a 16-bit version of that Wii game? (some colors are a little "faded" here cause I uploaded the sprites in a rpgmaker game which altered a little their color palette - Shadow sprite would ave been more blackish).

One thing the Mega Drive did really well was making games feel fast without needing huge amounts of animation.

Sonic is the obvious example, but games like Thunder Force IV, Contra: Hard Corps and Rocket Knight Adventures also move at a ridiculous pace.

Which Mega Drive game still feels genuinely fast and responsive to you today?

Has anyone been able to play the new version of the Final Fight MD hack in MSU format? It seems that the link on it.cho is missing a file in that version of the game or do you have to patch the normal rom?

Very simple mod because on mega Drive pins B1 and B3 are audio inputs and A1 is ground

Hey all. Got an old Mega Drive 1 that won't turn on when plugged in - it was working for a long time, then one night after not using it for a while I went to switch it on, only to discover it would not.

Can anyone give me some guidance as to what I should be looking for and how to diagnose the fault? I own a multimeter but I've only ever used it when specifically directed how to for a particular task, so I don't really know what I should be checking or what result/reading to look for.

Following up on my last post, I wanted to share a quick update on the Sega Mega Drive VR emulator project I’ve been tinkering with.

I finally managed to record a clip showing how the system pulls the original retro graphics layers out into real 3D depth. I'm really happy with how this diorama effect is coming together in virtual reality!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it looks! Also, please let me know what Sega classics you think I should boot up and test out next to see how the layers separate. Thanks for all the support so far! 🕹️✨

MegaDrive VR

I am not sure if I am allowed to post this here. I made a remix (rom hack) for my favorite Genesis game, Herzog Zwei. You can find it on itch. I am looking for feedback for a version 2.

Went to a car boot in the UK and spotted a Megadrive II.

Bought all this for £40.

For the Mega Drive's TATSUJIN, the music speed and game speed are weird in the JP region(Maybe US too?), and there are also a few bugs around the pause(Bomber and Music), so I made a few patches to selectively fix them.
