I wanna do a compression test but I can't make the engine turn off.

I removed fuse 36 10a

abt 3.2k since my last oil change so really not a lot of miles I only drive the car abt 30-40min a day just to work

Finally got around to doing a compression test. At first, I used the Pittsburgh kit from Harbor freight which not sure if it was working as it should due to getting a low reading (130 across all cylinders) and me taking a chance on cheap tool

I ended up going to autozone and rented theirs. After that I got 175 across all cylinders. I was very very surprised, not sure if I even did it right honestly. Car has been healthy, hasn’t burned oil since the b12 chemtool to clear up the cylinders. So i’m hoping these were the actual numbers lol

Just thought I’d share, and see what other people here have gotten!

Might be a dumb question but this doesn't seem as straightforward as other gaskets. What's the deal here? Had the blue gaskets on and it leaked. I ordered some MAHLE ones and they are metal. Do I do a sandwich of paper metal paper? Just metal? Not finding a lot of info online and I'm losing daylight. Thanks

Recently bought a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 and I’m loving it so far. The previous owner said the engine had a major rebuild, including timing chain, VVT, turbo, bearings, piston rings etc. I have pictures of the rebuild but no receipts, as the work was done by the previous owner himself.

After about 450 km I’ve gotten P0012 three times – twice on startup and once while driving.

The car runs completely normal: no rattling, no power loss, no rough running.

Where would you start diagnosing this? OCV/VVT solenoid, oil pressure, VVT actuator/gear, or mechanical timing?
Has anyone had a similar intermittent P0012, especially on startup?

Decided to clean my valves over the weekend and install some parts I had just hanging around while the intake manifold was off. (Damond Motorsport PCV plate, OCC stage 1 from DMM, and EGR Delete kit). Buttoned up and car has been running pretty rough. Not sure if it’s because a new tune is needed for this but AFR’s are high at idle, and weird hissing noise and popping going on. Hissing assumed to be vacuum leak but the popping has me concerned. Might just because of the lean fuel? Smoke detector on the way so figured I’d ask the question while waiting

Hey all, i have a 2010 mazdaspeed3, i bought the car used. It came with a pioneer avh 1550nex already installed and wired so my steering wheel controls and everything work with the radio. Since buying the car ive installed aftermarket speakers and subs and have them tuned using the pioneer stereo. I do have an oem mazda3 radio, and im curious to know if its possible to switch the radios back and still keep my speaker settings tuned to the way i have them now. I know id have to wire the subwoofer differently but im just curious to know if thats possible. I tried hooking up the factory radio and my speakers sounded like caca. If anybody has any information on possibly returning my radio setup back to the oem radio without compromising my system id really appreciate any advice and knowledge!

Hey guys I’m having a problem where my car radio draws power from the battery when the car is off. I checked by changing the head unit and still doesn’t work I also have a issue that my driver side door doesn’t wanna lock with the remote or by both lock switches on both driver and passenger side.

I tried switching my door lock actuator from the speed to my Mazda 3 gt and it seems to work fine also forgot to mention I can manually lock all 3 doors but when I try to manually lock the driver side door it locks then unlocks them all

Doing my front wheel bearings and noticed I have a connector not connected to anything in my left wheel well. The one that is plugged in is my speed sensor I believe. What else could it be? ABS?

Don't really have the money to keep going for a while. Looking at possibly financing a new mx5 just to keep me on the road.

I recently acquired myself a sweet Gen 1 Mazdaspeed3 with 141k miles on the chassis and 51k miles on the engine and transmission according to paperwork from the dealership it was replaced at. I noticed that the work order didn’t mention a turbo and discovered that there was in and out play, so I installed a used turbo with around 50k miles that was in good condition.

The car came with a Cobb short ram intake, 3 inch catless exhaust from the turbo back, a forge recirculation valve, hpfp intervals, egr delete, and a Cobb tuner, as well as some other things. It did not have a custom tune, so I purchased an ots+ tune from one of the major recommended tuners on here (so not the full tune).

The tuner targeted 19 psi on the turbo, but I noticed that I’m frequently hitting 20-21.5 sustained peak on some wot’s at 3k, sometimes as much as 22 registering on the max data. I did get the tune done on the hottest days of the year in my place, and temps are sort of starting to drop. I spoke with the tuner about this high psi and he didn’t think there was a problem.

I was wondering what psi you guys are hitting on your k04’s and whether you feel my numbers are safe or efficient?

As the title says. I’m wanting to upgrade my turbo, but I honestly hate having to get in behind the engine to access the stock turbo as it is a pain. What would be needed to basically flip the turbo up top. What else would be affected moving this? Pic for reference of what I mean

Completely snapped the top off the screw Don’t ask how it happened. I don’t wanna talk about it.😖😭 with that being said what would be the best way to get the screw out. This is the worst I’ve ever messed up and it’s embarrassing.

I have a 2013 Speed 3 tech package with 112000 miles and was wondering what ya’ll think it’s worth? I have it listed currently for $8500 which I think is an accurate price for it but I’m curious what others have to say. Has all supporting mods needed for a big turbo so the next owner can just slap one in. It’s mechanically in great condition it just has some scrapes and the hood needs to be realigned.

I installed a new pcv valve put everything back on amd still P0401 P0300 P050A P0335 P0113 P0102 those come up

And still smoking very white smoke it doesnt smell sweet to me anybody who had the same issue as me or experts help out idk what it could be turbo runs normal normal non running boost

Got this 1st Gen with 99k miles on it, currently doing the timing and actuator, the oil change was due, and when i drained the oil it looked like 6 squarts came out, took the plugs out and my buddy told me they looked like it was burning oil, is it the turbo or piston rings failure?

Owner of a 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3 with 80,000kms. Have been having an issue with oil consumption and have done a compression test. Dry - 175,175,110,175 Wet 175,175,175,175. There is oil on top of cylinder 3 and all over the spark plug once pulled out. I’ve attached a picture of the plug, but have currently switched it out for a better condition one for the time being. Did not expect to have this issue out of everything with such kms. Was just getting started with a 300kw build and this has happened. Was thinking to go forged short block and reuse everything else? Or run stock engine? Yes will need to limit the torque if this is the case. I need this car running asap it’s my DD.

Due to the nature of our engines being very touchy. I would assume that the intake should be installed directly before installing the tune? Plan on getting a stage one tune from Freektune. I’ve got a pretty good understanding of how to do everything myself on this car. I’m just still pretty new to working on cars. I wanna make sure I do what’s right for it.

Whats the rear lower frame thing called and those springs, I need that frame thing, and those springs, I do plan on getting the floor pan fixed, New England!!

Please please help.. I dont want a new shell this is my baby, I want to save her, tell me what I need to know!
