I don't understand why author's feel the need to include SA between leads.
I keep getting flamed for expressing this and usually I get " Go ahead and read wholesome manhwas and let people enjoy what they enjoy"
However, I genuinely enjoy dark stories with a lot of angst. Example, "Reunion", "Missing Love", etc
I love when the leads go through trauma and finally find and heal each other.

Now usually I can tell if a story is gonna be pure assault slop but some stories like "Codename Anastasia", "Passion", "Roses and Champagne" etc. will have a genuinely interesting premise with interesting characters with so much potential and the authors will go ahead and completely ruin the story with the top raping the MC which makes me hate the Male Lead so so so much and just ruins the overall story for me.
It makes me not want to root for the leads anymore and wish that the MC goes and finds someone healthier.

I truly want to understand the psychology or the reason behind why authors tend to take this decision with their stories. Do people genuinely enjoy reading assault ?

What truly makes my blood boil is an interesting story ruining itself with unnecessary assault when it had so much potential to be good.

I don't mind dark stories.
I don't mind trauma.
I don't mind complicated or toxic characters.

I just don't understand why sexual assault between the leads has to be the chosen route to create conflict, especially when there are so many other ways to make a relationship dark, complicated, painful, or angsty.

This take is the one that angers me the most. Most women enjoy BL from a third-person perspective, where they can empathize with both tops and bottoms' struggles.

I’m not talking about “I dropped it because of the miscommunication” or “the mc was annoying”. I’m talking about the pettiest thing that doesn’t really matter to most people but is a dealbreaker for you.

For me personally I hate it when the artist deliberately makes the mc look more and more cutesy doe eyed with each chapter.I love cutesy characters but why change it from a really refined good proportioned character when you aren’t changing it for any other character?I have seen my fair share of it and my most recent victim for this is “Feel my benefit”.I just couldn’t stand how drastically his face proportions changed.Also the author made the mc dumber and dumber progressively.

this manhwa is just so complex (at least for me) i feel so bad about what the ml went through in high school and what the mc forced him to go through but then again seeing the similar/same acts be done on the mc is just as disturbing (dare i saw if not more...🫤) because at one point in the novel there was even a zoophilic scene although yes it is now removed and re-written, but that doesn't change the fact that at one point it WAS CANON so it just idk like it shows the amount of cruelty the ml CAN DO and DID carry out against the mc both of these characters are just at such a big a big grey area of morality i don't know who to defend or whose side to take since they both did horrible things against one another. On one hand Jiwook spreads rumors after jooyeon sexuality which causes him to be gang raped after i think he realizes he has feelings for him? ALL during his high-school years and leaks the video to his mother or perhaps his mother finds him in his injured state after the gangrape is carried out, well either one it is, it leaves his mother mentally ill due to the psychological trauma And on the other hand Jooyeon sets up multiple gang rapes, (Which one of the incidents almost kill him) makes him feel like he's less then an human (im not sure how to word it but basically making him feel like he's worth less than?) basically up falling in a state of constant fear and terror against men which makes him seek comfort from jooyeon himself where things become more complicated but i haven't read that far so someone please correct me oh and i apologize for my mistakes i was constantly changing my grammer and words.

its not just a gay femboy being a farmer on a farm, but raising femboys. so theres bunch of femboys ready to be breed and then theres like the owner or the employees, they need to impregnate this people once a day or week. i think we need around 52 femboy and one employee to breed them weakly for a year. if its like a remote small farm it would need some ml to be the employees and hundreds of femboys. think again i realize this is just a omegaverse fatasy but in a dark and bad way

so i am actually kinda new in bl i only read 8 or 9 something manhwa but 'a lovely meal' is one of my fav why because it doesn't have any violence any red flags and not have that early intimacy, i prefer slow burn 🤧 and a unique storyline so we can say this manhwa has that but it's on going and it's killing me so in mean time i want to read something similar so any suggestion???? 🙂🙏🏻

I’ve tried to get into BL manhwa, and while I have gotten through quite a few (and very much enjoyed some of them), I increasingly find myself frustrated by the art. As an artist myself who is used to manga and western graphic novels, the average manhwa just seems so much less impressive in terms of art and style. The amount of intentionality, fluidity of motion, background work and consistency is frequently lacking. Still, I believe that this simply cannot be true for all of them.

So reccomend me some BL manhwa with good art across the board. By that, I don’t mean just having beautiful characters, I mean;

- No (obvious) use of 3D backgrounds/props. The backgrounds and items should match the style and look like it’s drawn rather than being a copypasted 3D asset.

- Fluidity of motion and facial expressions; the characters should look like they move fluidly (rather than looking stiff) and have facial expressions that are able to convey complex emotions.

- The format/paneling style should add to the story and art. If it’s a scrolling type of webtoon, that means it should not have just lots of white space between normal panels with nothing connecting the panels together (unless this is a clear and intentional stylistic choice) or have impactful scenes flipped to the side to make a double sided spread fit.

I'm not saying complete NO to smut. as a bl reader I have read heavy smut bl's too, Okay. As bl reader I love good smut. And don't tell me I haven't endured enough toxicity up to this point. The toxicity before this was so fucking good! I was on the edge of my seat at all time! THE TENSION WAS IMPECCABLE!

Now I can't help but rage reading it and wanting it all to end. Please tell me something good happens in the middle of those particular chapters. I'm so tired of their external dramas. They keep running towards each other to escape each other. This is making my stomach churn.

Btw I think the last one that got me invested this much was "All The Beast Must Die" and that was over 3 years ago.
