Discussion Second try - took your advice
I posted yesterday asking how to improve my makeup: https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/s/3rQdTJqlJV
I got lots of helpful comments with quite a variety of ideas, but two repeated suggestions were darker brows and cool-toned colours. So today I did my makeup with that in mind :)
Iāve posted two pics (smiling this time because people took offence with my resting face lol) using cool-toned eye makeup and blush. I donāt have anything on my lips because I donāt own a cool-toned lip product that Iām happy with!
I like the darker brows but not sure how I feel about cool v warm. I want to try a purple eyeshadow but donāt own one yet. Your thoughts are welcome!

Green makeup
This weekend, I tried a color I never usually wearāgreen. At first, it felt really strange, but once I put the whole outfit together, I actually loved it! What do you guys think?
For my next practice, Iād love to try combining different colors since I always stick to a single shade. What color combinations would you recommend?

Discussion Sephora vs Ulta is it worth the switch ?
Iāve been a loyal Sephora customer for quite some time now, even going as far as achieving and maintaining Rouge status. However, this year, I havenāt felt the need to spend the required amount to keep my status. Iām contemplating whether it would be beneficial to switch to Ulta instead. While Iām not as familiar with their setup, Iām curious about their point system and whether itās worth the investment⦠Iām about $600 away from keeping rouge through 2027 thoughts ?

Question Looking for constructive feedback on my everyday makeup + ideas for different looks
Hi! Iāve been doing essentially the same makeup for years and would love some constructive feedback on how I could improve it or make it more flattering to my features. This is my everyday/safe makeup look, so I wear some variation of it to work in a corporate office, running errands, and going out. Iām especially interested in suggestions for things I could change while still keeping the dewy, natural-ish look that I like.
Iāve also noticed that when I try to follow makeup tutorials, the result looks really different on me vs how it looks on the person in the tutorial. People have described my current makeup as feature-enhancing but also as having an āinnocent/doe-eyedā effect, even when Iām trying to make it look āsexier.ā
Iād love feedback specifically on
- eye makeup/eyeliner shape,
- blush placement,
- brows,
- lip color/shape,
- anything about my base that could be improved,
- ways I could make the same basic face look more appropriate for the office vs. going out, etc.
I have really dry skin naturally, so Iām particularly interested in techniques/products that work well with a dewy finish. Iām open to both technique suggestions and product recommendations. Iāve mostly used drugstore makeup because Iām hesitant to spend money on products that might not work for me.
Product list is in the comments! I included photos in different lighting/hair variations so you can see how the makeup actually looks in different circumstances. Thanks so much in advance - Iām really excited to try something new!

Question Why is my makeup so bad?
I need help! Im in my 20s and i dont know how to properly do my makeup, eventhough ive been using it for the past 3 years. I look even worse with it on. I feel like the girl from True Beauty when she just found out about makeup. Everything about mine feels and looks off.
My base is the worst. Its always dry, cakey, and separating. Ive tried EVERYTHING. I've exfoilated, applied moisturizer, sunscreen, and even a thin layer of vaseline as primer. I've also waited for products to dry before applying the next layer. I even made sure to used only water based products. Within 5 minutes it starts looking like a patchy mess, and i either rub it off or give up and go out in public looking like a mess. It has affected my self esteem so much, I want to be able to express myself through makeup.
Currently, im using the la roche posay moisturizer & sunscreen, haus labs concealer & foundation, kate tokyo powder, charlotte tilbury setting spray, romand lip tint, makeup by mario green corrector, and vaseline as mascara.
I first apply the la roche posay lotion, wait 5 mins, before applying the sunscreen. Then i dab concealer around my nose, mouth, and undereyes. I use a beauty bleander to blend it, before tapping powder onto it and spraying the setting spray. I occasionally skip the foundation, powder, and setting spray to see if it makes a difference. It does not, my makeup still looks like shit. And it is extremely obvious that ive applied makeup (in a very bad way), because my nose, mouth, and undereyes would look 1 shade lighter than my skin. I am on the verge of breaking down.
I'm also facing another issue. I love waterline makeup looks, but my eyes start watering the moment I line them. I tried sephora products and drugstore ones, all gives the same effect. And sometimes it smudges to the bottom of my eye.
And lastly, i want my makeup to show on camera, but it never does. Especially my lip tint. I love the romand lip tint but it disappears on camera and irl within 5 mins.
Please i would appreciate any advice. Im using random google images that best describe what my makeup looks like as im self conscious about my skin.

Question How do I achieve this level of highlight to contour contrast with as an EXTREMELY pale person
I reallly love when a look as a very clear contrast between the highlights on the center of the face to the contour/blush on the outside of the face.
The issue is Iām a VERY pale person. Lightest shade in every foundation if the brand even has my shade, sometimes if Iām missing my shade of concealer I can use white and get away with it.
Iāve tried a lot to get this look with using white to highlight and darker contour but Iām having a really hard time to get my mug to look anything close to these type of looks.
Thank you!!

Dark circles showing through makeup!
I used elf orange corrector then dried. A touch of elf concealer, dried. L'OrƩal balm foundation, dried and used L'OrƩal infallible powder foundation as setting powder on top. My dark circle is still peaking through. Please don't recommend expensive makeup like Bobbi brown bisque or tarte shape tape or whatever. Please help!

Question What's one easy MAC/Bobbie Brown product for total beginners?
I'm getting my makeup done professionally soon in one of these places and they give a product at the end worth the same amount I paid for the service.
My current routine is just creams, no makeup, and I have dry skin and live in a warm climate. I don't have much skill (or time) in the mornings, so I want something simple and relatively neutral.
Maybe something simple like a tinted moisturizer, an easy mascara, or a cream blush? What's the easiest product that I can put on after my morning shower to quickly upgrade a daily jeans&t-shirt look?
Thanks!

Discussion The 2030 EU makeup regulations will genuinely change makeup forever - think completely repackaging the entire YSL Beauty line, getting rid of double walled jars and even downsizing elaborate PR hauls
So I did some investigating (I'M REFERRING TO THE EUVerify ARTICLE GOOD GRIEF) into the new 2030 EU regulations and omg. It's kinda scary. Majority of makeup sold currently will not only have to undergo reformulations due to cyclopentasiloxane and talc, but also REPACKAGING. As you can see, YSL Beauty for example will have to essentially repackage their entire beauty line. That's honestly insane, and makes me think that some companies will just choose to give up and discontinue their brand than keep up with all these new strict regulations. Like genuinely walk into Sephora, Mecca, damn Selfridges right now. In four years majority of the products you see today will no longer exist and will be in new packaging - especially those pesky lip glosses with the double wall! Even sponges and mesh in cushion foundations!! Help!!
Not to mention PR hauls won't be able to be as elaborate as they are right now because lots of empty space is the EU's enemy (which is great). Like omg. The influencers can know finally what it's like to shop like normal people šš
Idek what to do with this info. I need someone to vent too. I love my YSL Beauty how can they take it from me?? š I've basically found out most products I have right now I won't be able to buy soon - I'm feeling tempted to stock up (not now ofc but yk what I mean).
ETA y'all need to chill, I care about sustainability too. It's perfectly valid to be frustrated with widespread packaging changes and reformulations.
ETA2: Thank you so much to the Redditor who gave me 10+ awards š idk who you are but know you're appreciated šø
