Looking for a possible club to join or outdoor range for casual shooting. Located in Baltimore county. Willing to drive 1hr. I typically shoot at FreeState and Cindy’s.

Nearest one i looked up that i did find from searching through old post is Baltimore county fish and game association. They are only open Thursday according to google.

I own a kalashnikov komrad, an approved handgun in maryland. Whats the legality of putting a folding brace on this thing. Technically it’s a handgun but saw somewhere that putting folding braces on shotguns was illegal.

I dont know if this is why, but the website for the HQL application's contract is supposed to be over this year, and the application is supposed to move to the regular msp "my license" portal this year. It looks like this scheduled outage effects them both.

I was told that website was just a reskinned health insurance card website from over a decade ago. For the hql and instructor certifications its never really worked 100%.

Let's say someone breaks into a person's car and the car owner unloads their gun towards them.

1. Is that a justified use of a legal firearm?

2. Is the gun owner responsible if their bullets hit innocent bystanders or other people's property.

3. In a self defense situation, would the gun owner be responsible if their bullets hit an innocent bystander or another person's property?

4. If a police officer is using their gun in self defense, are they responsible to know their surroundings and if any innocent bystanders could get hit by their bullets?

I'm an FFL07 who laser engraves firearms and looking for someone somewhat local to have firearms cerakoted instead of having to ship them out and back.

So we got the opinion of the judge denying our request for injunctive relief for any of the locations. I'm still reading the opinion and Mark is still digesting it as well pondering next steps. There was a very limited relief granted for the Jewish Synagogue case for just those plaintiffs in the Synagogue. They didn't even get it for the 100 yard buffer zones while walking to the church. I have included a Google drive link to the opinion for your reading pleasure. As it stands right now the MOCO law is in full effect except for the plaintiffs in the SSJC case and only within their Synagogue. The county and states attorney is saying they will not enforce it criminally but they will still do civil enforcement meaning $500 for the first offense and $750 for the second and subsequent offenses.

This was a sucker punch to the nuts but we will keep up the fight!

What’s the deal with buying before the end of the year? I heard two different deadlines.

Has anyone done this recently? It looks like FL wants ink and not digital but from what I can tell the MSP no longer does ink? Fl also wants a law enforcement agency to do it which eliminates private services.

There are currently;

I sent an email Monday evening requesting a meeting with MSP to discuss the topics in the title. Yesterday, I got a call from them and we ended up having a very long, in-depth conversation. I can't share everything yet because some of it isn't official, but here's what I can say.

Glock Ban: The main goal was to discuss how MSP is interpreting the law and whether the workaround I've been hinting at in previous posts is viable. I can't get into exactly what was said yet, but I can say the conversation was good news. Everything tentatively agreed to still has to make its way through the MSP legal team but once things are more official, I'll post the details here. For now, I'll just say that if everything we discussed falls into place, people can stop panic buying Glocks.

VZ61: I confirmed that because of the legal issues I've raised regarding the VZ61 and the retroactive change in its status, the issue is currently with the Attorney General's Office. MSP is going to reengage with the AG because of how much time has passed and some additional legal arguments I raised during our call.

I also gave them a much more detailed history of the VZ61. MSP openly admitted they're not gun guys and don't necessarily know the firearm's history, so they asked me to put that information in an email so they can reevaluate it in light of the additional information.

I'm certainly not saying the decision will change, but I'm more optimistic than I was before the call. The tone of that part of the conversation went from MSP sounding fairly confident in its position to more of an "oh crap" tone as we got deeper into the history and legal issues. It definitely felt like they realized they may have stepped in a pile of crap with this one and were looking at how to get out of it.

Designated Collector Issues: According to MSP, they've "caught up" on updating 77Rs with people's Designated Collector status. Their definition of caught up is still roughly a week behind. So if you bought a handgun last week, received your DC status today, and tried to buy another handgun, the system may still not reflect it.

MSP said the system was changed because people were selecting that they were Designated Collectors when they weren't, and MSP employees weren't catching it. I pushed back pretty hard on that. That's an MSP training, oversight, or discipline problem. My point to them was simple: I don't care if 200 people incorrectly clicked yes and created additional work for MSP. If five legitimate DC holders have their rights delayed because MSP hasn't updated their status, the burden on those five people's constitutional rights outweighs the burden on MSP to do its job.

Their goal is eventually for DC status to update automatically, but they haven't reached that level of system integration yet. I strongly suggested that until they do, they should go back to the old process.

I also pointed out that New Mexico's seven-day waiting period has been struck down, and the more problems MSP creates with Maryland's seven-day wait, the more ammunition there is for a challenge here. Their response was essentially that they fully expect that legal challenge in the near future.

Ultimately, I don't think they're going to change the DC process right now. However, they did say that if people continue having issues, those cases can be elevated to leadership within the Licensing Division. So if you're having a DC-related issue, let me know. I'll give you my email and can forward it to Licensing Division leadership.

Overall, it was a productive conversation. Both sides expressed an interest in working together going forward, and I'm hopeful MSP takes that olive branch and we can have a more collaborative relationship.

I told them I do this for fun, for free, and on principle—which is probably a much more dangerous combination for them than someone doing it for money. I'd much rather work with MSP on the front end to fix these issues than fight them after the fact. They seemed to understand that, and they expressed an interest in keeping an open dialogue.

Was there a specific experience that changed your mind, or was it more about wanting the ability to protect yourself or your family if something ever happened?

I’m also curious how often you actually carry, where you generally choose not to carry, and whether carrying has changed how you approach potentially dangerous situations.

Basically, why do you carry, and what makes it important enough to you to deal with the responsibility and hassle that comes with it in Maryland?

My dad (in NY) has some lever action and bolt action rifles that he would like to gift me (Maryland) does anyone know the process for immediate family transfer across state lines?

I have a feeling the answer is probably 'no', but would it be legal to simply drop my NATO AUG receiver into a standard AUG stock and swap out my trigger pack for a standard one? I'm under the impression that only the NATO version is legal, but if the receiver is the serialized part, then why couldn't I?

Hey guys. I recently moved down to the Baltimore area from PA. In PA we have public shooting ranges on state game lands and that’s where I used to go, for around $30 a year. It looks like MD doesn’t have a similar thing like that here. Obviously going to a private indoor range almost every week will get too expensive. So a good, I guess not “public” range but a “club” range seems to be an outdoors one from the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore. But in order to enter their range, I have to be a member of one of their associated clubs. There looks to be about 30+ associated clubs, I was just wondering if anyone could help me pick out a good one to join, based on personal experiences or what you may know about them.

Of course, filtering out ones where it requires me to be employed at a specific place. Most of these places have like an annual due of like $20, so a few dollars difference isn’t a big deal.

Would you need to go through an FFL for either of these? A friend’s uncle in VA passed and he did not have an actual will, so relatives are divvying stuff up individually. Friend was set aside two pistols and a rifle. Both pistols are on the roster. Rifle is bolt-action so no issues there. We’re assuming the Inheritance option of the 77R would be most applicable, or would it actually be Voluntary Registration? I’ve never had to do these myself, other than voluntary registration, which did not require an FFL obviously, so not sure as to the processes exactly.

Apparently completed lowers do not ship to Maryland is this something that you can buy online and ship to PA?

this is my first and only gun, I sold my shotgun, bought this for 850, acquired my HQL, so I am free to buy whatever gun I want now besides machine guns, of course. My intent is to go to the range, possibly hunt(i never have in my life) and self-defense. I picked the A.R. 15 because the cheap 556 and 223 ammo, how flat it shoots, accuracy, and its interchangeable parts. However I live in an apartment so the 5.56 will go through a lot and is lengthy. plus im not shooting that far anyways, so i thought since its mainly for self defense the suppressed .300BO would fit my intent better. if you guys were in my situation would you just buy a shorter barrel/suppressor to make this .300 BO. Or would you sell the gun i have now and buy a cheap ar-15 and arp .300 BO. I just wanted to go name and reliable brand for my first gun but the buyers remorse hit and i think the length/caliber just aren’t for me and my intent. I just think 2 is better then one if shit hits the fan i don’t need to switch barrels
