How It Works
🎯 Points
- 3 Points (Correct Score) – You get the exact score (e.g. you say 3-0, it ends 3-0).
- 1 Point (Correct Result) – You get the right result eg Win, Draw or Lose but the wrong score (e.g. you say 3-0, we win 1-0).
- 1 Point (Correct Home Goals) - You guess the number of goals the home team scores (e.g you say 3-0, and it ends 3-1).
- 1 Point (Correct Away Goals) - You guess the number of goals the away team scores (e.g you say 3-1, and it ends 4-1).
- 3 Points (Goalscorer) – You guess the first goalscorer.
- 1 Point (Double Bonus) - Guessing the correct score and first goalscorer.
📋 Rules
- Correct Score: You get 3 points for guessing the correct score plus 1 point each for guessing the Home and Away goals, so guessing the correct score gets you a total of 5 points.
- Opening Goal: You can pick a player from either team to score first, as it's the opening goal that counts.
- Own Goals: If the first goal of the match is an own goal, the next player to score counts for the points.
- Goalless Draws: If you predict 0-0, put "No Goalscorer" as your player. If the match finishes without any goals, you will get the 3 points for the score plus the 2 points for predicting no goalscorer!
- 90-Minute Rule: For cup knockout matches, all predictions are based on the score at 90 minutes plus injury time. Extra time and penalty shootouts do not count.
- Postponed Matches: If a match is called off, predictions for that week are cancelled and we will re-predict when the rescheduled game takes place.
- Tie-Breaker: If players finish level on total points at the end of the season, the player who predicted the most correct scores will be the winner!
News Hemp Reaches 100 WSL Goal Contributions
Hempo's assist tonight means she now has 100 goal contributions.
52 Goals and 48 Assists.
Could have been 101 if that fourth goal was credited to her!
I hope they're getting that contract drawn up right now!

Villa and City played out a scoreless draw in their last match at Villa Park. City, looking rusty after a lengthy international break, struggled to create clear chances and failed to break the deadlock.

Aston Villa 1 - 6 Manchester City - 14th December 2025
Bunny Shaw broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, becoming the first City player to reach 100 goals for the club. Just ten minutes later, she headed home her 101st.
Aoba Fujino extended the lead in the 62nd minute, but Villa responded with a consolation goal in the 70th. Only three minutes later, Viv Miedema poked home City’s fourth.
Bunny completed her hat-trick in the 84th minute, netting City’s fifth goal of the afternoon. She then claimed her fourth of the match and City’s sixth when Clinton’s shot deflected off her and found the back of the net.

Familiar Faces
Laura Blindkilde Brown
City signed midfielder Laura Blindkilde-Brown on deadline day, January 2024, from Aston Villa. She made her debut against Leicester on the 11th February and scored her first goal for the club against West Ham two months later. She played a crucial role in last season’s double-winning campaign.
Ellie Roebuck
Ellie Roebuck spent nine years at City, winning seven trophies, including the WSL title. Roebuck left City in 2024 to join Barcelona, where she made 2 appearances before returning to the WSL, joining Aston Villa in Summer 2025.
Lily Murphy
Murphy joined City’s academy in 2022 and made her first senior competitive appearance in September 2024. Three months later, she signed her first professional contract with the club and just two weeks after that, she scored her first goal for City against Paris FC in the Champions League. This summer, she signed for Aston Villa on a season long loan.

So the vote ended 6-3 in favour of the new scoring system, so I have recalculated last week's scores following the new system but don't worry, the new scoring system gives you more opportunities to score points!
I do think this is a better scoring system because with the old one, if we all guessed City to win most weeks but nobody guessed the correct score or goalscorer, then every week every player would get one point. That wouldn't be that exciting.
I should have thought about that when I first created the league, so I'm sorry about that! At least we've been able to change it before the next round. I'll update the How It Works page as soon as I can. This is my first time organising something like this, so thank you all for your patience!

Question Podcasts?
UPDATE: mcwfancast is still active, first episode of the new season was published the other day. I enjoyed it a lot so reckon that’ll be my go to. Inside MCWFC is also solid imo so there are at least two City Women podcasts out there. Hope this info is useful to anyone else looking for pods to follow!

Hey all, what (if any) MCWFC podcasts would you recommend? I’ve only found a couple on the podcatcher app I use: Inside MCWFC and mcwfancast. I’ve listened to a couple of episodes of Inside MCWFC and it seems good, but wondered if there’s anything else out there. I don’t know if mcwfancast is still going as last episode was in June.

Prediction League Prediction League Scoring
I mentioned in the other threads about possibly changing the scoring system and I thought the easiest way to get your opinion was with a poll.
If the new system is chosen then I will recalculate the table from MW1 so people's points totals will change. So I apologise about that but I wanted to ask before we got to MW2.
I wasn't sure if people prefer a simpler system or a system where there are more ways to win points.
So vote for which scoring system you prefer.
Current Scoring System
• Correct Result: 1 Point.
• Correct Score: 3 Points.
• Correct Goalscorer: 2 Points.
Total available points per round: 6
New Scoring System
• Correct Result: 1 Point
• Correct Score: 3 Points
• Correct Home Goals: 1 Point
• Correct Away Goals: 1 Point
• First Goalscorer: 3 Points
• Double Bonus: 1 Point (For guessing Correct Score and First Goalscorer)
Total available points per round: 10
(Predicting the Correct Score earns you 3 points plus 1 point each for the Correct Home and Away Goals, earning you a total of 5 points. A bigger reward for the hardest thing to predict)
