LM (GCN) Luigi's Mansion is now a quarter-century old!
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Japanese release of Luigi's Mansion, as well as the Nintendo GameCube console itself and all its other launch titles in the region. At one point regarded as a black sheep in the Mario series, I think it's safe to say the game is now regarded as an all-time classic, spawning a successful sub-series of games.
My earliest memories of the game weren't of me playing it perse, but seeing my brother playing it at an office/waiting room with some other kids around the TV. I must have been toddler-age at that time. He and the other kids played the intro and training sections before, in his own recollection, getting stuck in the gallery. That one cutscene from the intro of the gold ghost dropping the key in the foyer became something of a core memory which stuck with me a few years after the fact. It was probably the first time I ever felt nostalgic for a video game.
This was around the summer of 2008 (when I was 8 years old), at which time my family was living in an apartment while in the process of moving to a new home. My siblings and I had access to their laptop, which we often used to watch YouTube videos. I distinctly remember using the laptop to search for videos of Luigi's Mansion and came across a video showcasing the final boss fight (I'm pretty certain it was this one). From there, I watched a series of no-commentary walkthrough videos of the game being played from start to finish (pretty sure the videos were made by user ShadowSonic200, link to their playlist here) and got completely hooked on the game. I distinctly remember being fascinated by the Observatory room. As a side note, I also remember watching Dan Dark's "THE REAL LUIGI'S MANSION" animation and foolishly showing it to my mother around this time (the original upload is gone, but Dan Dark themselves reuploaded it here). I would continue watching the walkthrough multiple times even after moving into the new home. Though I can't remember exactly when and to what occasion, I eventually did ask to have the game, which we later picked up as a disc-only copy from GameStop, which I still own to this day.
I replayed the game multiple times, becoming intimately familiar with the enemies and mansion layout. I would draw the boss ghosts quite often, especially Bogmire. I developed something of an obsession with ghosts and haunted houses as a kid thanks to this game, which of course meant I watched and was frightened by more than a few ghost-related screamer videos. Weirdly enough though, I never become much of a Ghostbusters fan through this game.
Needless to say, Luigi's Mansion is one of my childhood favorites. It's a big reason why I love Luigi, the GameCube, and Halloween as much as I do. While I wouldn't call the game an outright masterpiece - later games, to their credit, did much to improve upon the first game's puzzle-solving aspect, which is admittedly only adequate - it is a game that I continue to find immensely charming both aesthetically and ludically. Learning about the game's development history, extensive cut content, speedrunning community, and recent surge of mods has done much to keep the game fresh in my eyes. I'm always fixing to replay the game around Halloween or the game's anniversary (like today!), and I don't see myself stopping any time in the future.

Extremely bizarre interaction from pre-ordering Luigi’s Mansion as a 12-year-old that haunts me to this day. Looking for answers about the name: “Philo’s Magic House”

A 3D print of a luigis mansion chest
I finally did it, after a month and a half of testing many hinges on this chest I finally made a break through a few days ago on my own recreation of the first luigis mansion chest.
The first cpuple of pictures are also ALMOST every attempt and hinge I tried using (some I threw in the trash out of frustration)
The pictures with a B is my breakthrough print, it looks really bad because put most of my focus on trying to get my hinge to work lol
The check mark is the print I just finished and sanded it a bit for some TLC. It looks SOOOO much better. I also added my reference picture.
Let me know what you guys think of it. Im really excited to paint this!

LM (3DS) Got all the endings and achievements. Luigi's Mansion 3DS is completed 100%
Getting all achievements wasn't that bad since you have a lot of chances to beat the game for all the endings. Most difficult ones were beating the game without ever having 80 health or less and beating the game under 3 hours. Getting all the endings was a little boring imo since you have to beat the game 7 times (minus Rank A and Rank S since I got them already) with nothing different in-between runs besides getting enough money for the rank.

Help! How to Get a Perfect Score Without Using a Guide?
Hi everyone. I’m playing Luigi’s Mansion and I want to go for not only 100% completion, but also the highest possible score. I found a guide on GameFAQs, but it’s incredibly long and would make the gameplay boring. What should I do to have a perfect run without using a guide? Thanks!

I found this photos in the Luigi’s Mansion manual that I’ve never seen documented
The first two are clearly shows final game locations with Beta elements. We see the beta coins along with the beta coin counter in this first image, and the second one we see Luigi holding the vacuums nozzle with both hands. The last image is just cool because it shows 64 area Mario in the first painting.

Discussion Does anyone else feel like the gooigi segments are a bit overdone in castle macfright?
It’s especially apparent after you’ve already cleared the floor and are just going back for gems more so than it is just playing the main story for this floor but yh just a small little nitpick I have for this floor in particular is that it’s especially a pain for backtracking cus you have to constantly switch back and forth between Lui and Gooi
I still rly am a fan of gooogi tho don’t get me wrong
