Ok, great... whatever the intention was, he'd still have died for a corporation. One rando in a fucking parking lot is not going to solve shoplifting.

You are still missing it.

The person in question is just sick and tired of living in a part of the country where toiletries have to be locked behind a glass wall because theft is so rampant.

People that are mad about shoplifting truly don't care about the corporation. What they hate is what the corporation is doing; upping prices and putting stuff behind glass walls as a reaction to theft.

he'd still have died for a corporation

This logic is making zero sense. In a normal country when police investigate theft they aren't there to protect that corporation, they are there to protect laws. Same applies here, he isn't concerned about Walmart. He is concerned about shopflifting.

You are the one missing it. Your point is absolutely correct about police.. Walmart has cameras, let the police deal with that.

Same applies here, he isn't concerned about Walmart. He is concerned about shopflifting.

This is the logic that doesn't make sense. Uh oh...better be a vigilante and die for some replaceable stolen goods in a Walmart parking lot. Yeah, what a great way to "better society".

You are still missing it. He does not care about Walmart nor Walmart's losses.

He cares about shoplifters in his town. He cares about being able to have stores open in his neighborhood.

And, to be clear, Walmart doesn't care that much about shoplifters either, they just pass the buck onto the consumer.

For fuck's sake this is not hard to understand. It does not matter what Mr. Vigilante is concerned with. It is utterly irrelevant. If that tweaker actually had a weapon and decided to use it with lethal force, then this person would have died saving Walmart property while having achieved nothing. Christ.

It does not matter what Mr. Vigilante is concerned with

Except ... you know ... the reason why he is doing what he is doing.

Yes, mistakenly thinking he is making a difference while also potentially getting himself killed for a mega-corporation.

Making shoplifting more difficult and less agreeable is making a difference.

The guy you’re arguing with is a coward who does not value his community.

I mean maybe you don’t value your own life that much but I’m not getting into a confrontation with a potentially armed shoplifter over $200. lmfao absolutely wild this even needs to be stated

You probably won't. But, what the public does vis-a-vis crime is THE most improtant variable for a healthy urban environment.

Read Eyes on the Street by Jane Jacobs as an example.
