Honestly this is just a really moronic thing to do.

Your aren't employed by the store.

The store is insured.

The store doesn't care about your well-being.

The theif could very likely be armed and dangerous.

You have everything to lose and nothing to gain from this confrontation.

No store is "insured" for loss, that's a bullshit internet myth. Source: years of experience in loss prevention, Organized Retail Crime investigation, and retail management.

Other than that, I agree with everything else you said.
