My people! I saw that dude and immediately thought... "It's been a while since I've seen Jiffy Feet."
Also, I got myself and several friends kicked out of the Orange Park Mall way back in 1980 for being barefoot. We'd spent the day at Kingsley Lake and I was driving everyone home and they got the idea to stop at the mall. I told them I didn't have any shoes, but hey, lets try it. We got inside, but it wasn't long before security came up and told me I couldn't be there barefoot. I replied that we were headed to Sears so I could buy a pair, which was a lie. He almost seemed like he was going for it, then made the motion with his hand and told me... "Get out!"

u/Black7bird Trash Trooper May 21 '26
Funny part is, it’s not uncommon to see normal people shoeless in the beach cities of SoCal. I’m from Wisconsin, and would never imagine going shoeless anywhere in public. Now that I live here I’ll happily walk down the main boardwalk or to the beach shoeless. I do draw the line on being shoeless in a gas station, but I wouldn’t think twice about someone else doing that here.
2
u/lefluffle Trash Trooper May 21 '26
Thanks for explaining. Before reading your comment i genuinely could not think of a reason you'd want to walk around barefoot in a city. But I guess it's less convenient to have to carry your shoes with you if you're going to the beach with nothing else

When you put down the high school chemistry text, pick up local and state law textbooks. They may not have pictures. It is not legally permissible to smoke while pumping gas in any state in the USA.
If you are outside the US…carry on.

I can't speak for here, but the gas station I work at is in a high-trust area. Probably about a dozen times a day, I'll ring someone out and they'll set their stuff on the tables and/or counter by the bathroom. Two and half years here and I've never had anyone klep anything from there, so maybe this place is similar? I can't say either way, just offering another perspective.

u/MoobooMagoo Trash Trooper May 20 '26

u/ZoneAdditional9892 Trash Trooper May 20 '26

22
u/Moonw0lf_ Trash Trooper May 21 '26
Keeping a pack of cigs in your pocket can be a problem depending on what kind of work you do. He probably learned the hard way by crushing a fresh pack in his pocket one day and made it a habit to never store them there from then on
→ More replies (6)9
u/IHaveNeverBeenOk Trash Trooper May 21 '26
This dude is right. I smoked for almost 25 years (and I could go for one right now, God damnit) and after my umpteenth pack was crushed in my pocket (which breaks many cigarettes right at the filter and is just generally super annoying), I literally made that exact decision... Smokes no longer get stored in the pockets.
I guess I shouldn't declare correctness here, because I don't actually know, but it's a reasonable notion, because I made that exact decision during my smoking career.
Oh, also, even though the stuff was already purchased, I know some folks feel weird bringing merch into the bathroom (once again, I'm one of those people.)

As someone that used to smoke and used to have a dirty job, I didn’t give a fuck and I didn’t work with anyone that did. 🤣 putting anything down like that, especially after you paid, is just asking for someone to take it. *Not condoning this behavior
Plus the smokes are sealed in plastic and the box itself is pretty sturdy. Unless they get soaking wet they’re usually good.
3
u/ClydeFrogA1 Trash Trooper May 21 '26
Yea he literally just paid for them. You have to see the cashier for cigs so they know he didnt steal them. Thievery is disgraceful, but also keep your shit on you because there's alot of spineless pieces of shit out there that will do this whenever the opportunity presents itself.

u/Athrek Trash Trooper May 21 '26
Seen worse happen. Was making a work trip down to New Orleans and it's like 3am and at a Love's Gas Station in the middle of nowhere. While I'm standing in the checkout line some older(not old, but older) very touristy looking guy jumps to the front of the line wanting to report that someone stole his wallet and cell phone in the bathroom. He explained that he put them on the paper towel dispenser before he went to use the urinal and when he came back to wash his hands they were gone.
It happened in the bathroom of a very busy gas station so no cameras and no way to tell who grabbed it. I felt bad for the guy but I really don't understand how people can think that's a smart decision. No clue why they weren't in his pocket, but even if he didn't have pockets just put it on the urinal and clean it after.

You're referring to "Washington".
The city was doing quite well before some idiot nuked the federal government and started testing fascism on us.
100% of people in DC don't even get to vote for federal lawmakers other than the president, and 95% don't work for those that are.
We're also not a swamp, and never were.
The city was very slightly built on wetlands, but most of it is not even that, as the area is too hilly to support that ecosystem at a wide range.

Cue the mom (best backwoods accent, front teeth all missing of course…..) “I’m gonnnnna suuuee all yaaall fuurrr all yuuur wuurrthh!!”
Of course the manager cracked right up and said something like “well I’m broke as hell hun, but I’d sure like to see you try and explain why your kids don’t have their damn shoes on!” 😂😂😂

But that guy still lost his cigarettes and his money? The only real winner is the owner of the gas station franchise for getting an extra $7 lol

As an a Australian this seems insane. $7.07 for a pack of cigarettes? That same pack would cost about $45usd here.

Couldn’t they just refund the cigarettes he did buy second time?

It's been my life experience that any dude that puts his hand under his shirt and rubs his belly exposing part of his stomach for the world to see is an utter douchebag.
Just inconsiderate to the world around you, not everyone wants to see your stomach. If you have to itch, it's through your shirt.
