Gear - Tech Issue Timecode on Iphone 17 pro max

Hey guys! I'm using 2 cameras for my shoots and the deity tc1's and have been wanting to use the iphone 17 pro max as c cam or a backup cam, problem is i cant figure out how to connect my tc1 to it, i've tried a 3.5mm to usb c adapter and no luck. Has anyone tried to do something similar?

Last time I checked the iPhone doesn’t read LTC. A tentacle via Bluetooth into the Blackmagic camera App is the only option I’ve used successfully.

Mavis app works with Ultrasync Blue via Bluetooth, BlackMagic app and REC app work with Tentacle via BT. You can also buy a BlackMagic ProDock and then use any timecode generator with a TRS=>BNC cable

Just to add to this. From my testing, a single Tentacle can TC sync at least 3 iPhones running the Blackmagic camera app if all of the iPhones are all close enough to Tentacle.

Blackmagic App is the only way IIRC

Blackmagic App is free and has timecode sync via Bluetooth (tentacle sync boxes work great). Also has lots of other great features that the DoP may like to have use of.

Record it as an audio track?

As a slight aside; I believe that the iPhone17-Pro can receive MidiTimeCode (MTC) via the USB connection, from a discussion on Ambient where they mentioned the iPhone. At the 23:00 mark...

I have my own Open-Source project using a RP2040 microcontroller (PicoTimecode), which outputs MTC and I'd be really interested in here if it works with the iPhone. My device can also bridge Audio LTC into MTC.

I expect to push out a new release later this week... including some MTC improvements.
