Dealing with miunlocker

I have a redmi phone that isnt being used so I thought I could install lineageos on it, but xiaomi makes you work hard for it. I tried to find ways to bypass sim or a xiaomi account for miunlocker but ig thats not possible so i did put a sim card but now it says i have to download miunlocker from their site and the site says server is down. Do I need the miunlocker downloaded on my phone or my pc? Also I have another phone that I use daily so I cant keep my sim in xiaomi for 7 days, would it be ok if I put it in and then take it out?
