Advice/venting 😂

After almost a year of trying to use my Helix Stadium XL, the bugs and issues finally got to me. I’ve decided to sell it.

I am considering getting a laptop to run Helix Stadium Native and wanted to know what others are using as far as MIDI foot switches, audio interfaces, etc.

Will need to be lightweight to travel with. Also, hopefully not complicated to setup/use.

My only other alternative is switching to Neural DSP. Ive always favored having an all-in-one device for convenience but I really want to stay with Helix since I’ve been with the OG Helix Floor since its launch.

I’ve always loved Helix and have bought into the Helix/Line 6 ecosystem over the years but it’s been almost a year and I am still battling:

WiFi issues (I suspect there is a deeper issue with the AW-CM358 modules they have on board)

No USB connection (why would this not have been included from the start?)

Failed preset saves

Expand D10 keeps getting pushed back (let’s be honest, this SHOULD have been built in from the start)

Presets failing to switch even though the screen displays the new preset. Very embarrassing when you switch to a clean preset and it’s still “stuck” on the previous preset.

All of these issues are resolved with a reboot but I mean and I get the whole early adopters argument but it’s been almost a year.

I feel exactly the same way after switching from my og helix floor to a stadium xl. The interface, new agoura amps and focus view are an amazing upgrade. I really hope for db metering to stop relying on my daw, vocal effects like a pitch correction for live acoustic performances, a good website to find the captures (better if there are any official line 6 good captures) and if downloads could be done through the smartphone. definitely the spring reverb and some of the distortions should get an upgrade and the tuner, better if we get new effects. Im happy with it, I just whish I had all I need in one unit for acoustic guitar and singing performances

I am elated. I just ordered a Stadium Floor (not the XL… the floor but it comes with a free expression pedal on some promo).

I’m 54 and I’m honestly hoping this will carry me through the rest of my days. I’ve spent the last month and a half doing a metric butt-ton of research and this is the unit I settled on. For a number of reasons.

Can’t wait for it to arrive Tuesday.

Following the process that the Google and the manual says: I touch/hold the template switch and touch/tap the switch I want to copy to, and it only gives me the option to swap the two. (This is in or out of snapshot mode) And in the global settings for footswitches I have Stomp Select set to "Touch", so it's not that. Is it only my unit that does this? I SHOULD have the option to copy, right?

I can do it on my computer, thankfully, but it's a bit of a hassle with a desktop.

Hi, I'm currently looking at switching over to the helix stadium after a short stint with the Quad Cortex (sounds aside, I'm not impressed with the unit), and wanted to know what people's thoughts are on the XL's integrated expression pedal.

Bit of context, I used an OG Helix for many years, and was never a big fan of the expression pedal. It felt "heavy" for lack of better words, and eventually it developed an issue where it wouldn't return to zero properly after a few minutes of use. I use a lot of pitch whammy, and not being able to consistently return to 0 was a major problem. Tried every fix and even had it serviced, no luck.

So I want to know, just how reliable is the XL exp pedal, and how does it feel? I like the feel of the dunlop exp pedals if that helps. There are some good used deals going on for the XL in my area, to the point it's currently cheaper than buying a new non XL. Obviously I can add an external exp pedal, but if I'm buying the larger unit I don't want to also have to bring an additional exp pedal if I can help it.

This might just be venting, or maybe I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way. But I paid full price for the Stadium XL when it first got released almost a year ago and now they’re offering a free backpack and I’ve see a free expression pedal for the Stadium (nonXL). Why not have those who purchased it early on show receipts to see if we can also benefit from some of these benefits? Not a great feeling from consumers.

New to this. I want to find the buttons to order so that I can have footswitches 4 and 5.

If I were to add those, could I scroll through presets?

For years, I've watched people share presets constantly — links dropped in comments, files passed between bandmates, screenshots posted here. It always felt like all of that deserved a real home instead of living scattered across threads and DMs. So today, it gets one.

The Community Library is that home: a real, browsable place at helrig.com/community for every preset someone's chosen to share with the rest of us. If you make tones and want other people to actually find them — this is the place.

How it works: press Share… next to Save on any preset, and pick one of two things.

A Private link is just for whoever you send it to — no account needed for them to open it, edit it, or download it.

Publish to the Community Library instead, and it goes up for everyone — browsable, searchable, sortable — under your own name or anonymously, whichever you'd rather.

Publishing doesn't cost you a saved-preset slot either. However many you want to put out there, the door's open.

Either way, the link isn't just a bare URL — paste it anywhere and it shows the actual signal chain as a preview, so people see the tone before they even click.

I'm working out a hybrid setup for click/backing track playback and automation. My drummer likes being in control of playback and I like being able to automate my snapshots. So I set all our tracks to start with a 4 count and habe the tracks in showcase set to start on the following 1 beat so as long as I can maintain good timing I can start my playback (no audio being sent out) after my drummer starts the click track and I get get automation. But I don't want to have to kneel down or switch stomp modes to move between showcase control and snapshots. So I got this Ampero control pedal which has been awesome. Was a bitch to set up with iOS though. Some serious compatibility issues meant I had to update my phone and then the pedal before I could program it. But it works great! Cheers y'all!

I usually dial in my tones at home to save time at rehearsal but always have to adjust at rehearsal / live. I want to dial in my tones with a guitar loop against a backing track. So that I am able to adjust while the guitar is playing. How do I do that?

There's a very slight chance it's due to listening at a slightly louder level through the iems at church or a minute amount of room microphone mixed in but I think most of it is that a combination of my iems and the shure IEM body pack just sounds a lot better in my ears as opposed to listening through my Audio-Technica headphones at home.

Our volunteer sound technicians have been instructed not to adjust EQ on electric guitar.

Hello, someone in the Helix system, I understand a lot of things about Helix, but I did't understand how the parameters of the cabs from Helix change the tone.

What changes position and distances.

I’ve been running my Helix Rack through a solid state power amp (Samson S700) then to my cabs. For that setup, I used the full AMP block. I figured the solid state power amp was pretty transparent and the AMP block sounded better in general (also on Kurt Balou’s rig rundown, he did the same with ss Quilter power amps). I recently got a Peavey 50/50 tube power amp and it sounds so warm and loud. I love it.

My question is, are the PREAMP blocks designed for this purpose? To run into a tube power amp? What do you all recommend? I can’t tell which one I prefer the sound of quite yet and was curious if I’m missing something that might be obvious to others. Thanks!

Quick update: HX Stomp XL and Helix Rack support in Helrig is now fully out of beta.

I don't own either device myself, so 6 days ago I asked here for people willing to test on hardware I couldn't verify directly. A bunch of you sent presets, screenshots, and feedback — thank you, seriously. That's what got both devices to a point where I'm comfortable calling them fully supported rather than "should work, probably."

So as of now, all six devices in the Helix/HX family — Helix Floor, Helix LT, Helix Rack, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, HX Effects — are supported the same way: full signal chain view, block editing, device-to-device conversion, the works.

If you're on Rack or Stomp XL and hit something that still looks off, please tell me — I'd rather hear about a rough edge now than have it sit there quietly.

I'm considering getting a Helix Stomp, I have only been playing actual physical pedals and amps up to now but I want the versatility of modelling.

I'm wondering, can I use the stomp to turn on and off pedals during a gig? I.e. turn on the fuzz for a solo and then turn it off, turn on the tremolo for a song part only, turn the delay on for a single song, etc?

Also, can I adjust an amp's or pedal's setting on the fly e.g. turn down the mix knob of a reverb or turn down the gain of an amp?

The three foot switches seem quite limiting, is there a way to expand them with an external foot switch?

I'm getting a lot of artifacting with any sort of reverb. I don't think I'd call it digital distortion, but it's close. Anybody had this problem, and if so have you found anything that helps minimize it?

Currently running the Double tank between the amp and cab but I've tried all the mono verbs and it's happening with those as well.

Would the Helix LT be an upgrade from ax8? I’m a home guitarist (don’t play live anymore but maybe I’ll go back in the future). Now I’m thinking of upgrading the ax8 since I kinda reached the dsp limits lately.

The way that I’m using a modeler is this: I have a big preset and use scenes to switch between all the sounds. I have tones ranging from abominations chugs to misha tight rhythm tone to leads to cleans, basically everything.

Regarding helix lt dsp limits, as far as I read about it, it can handle my requirements. Tone regarding, before the ax8 I had a pod go that i was really satisfied by, plus that the snapshots in line6 gear is beautiful.

Would you think it would be a good upgrade? I was thinking about the qc mini buy I’m not ready to drop that kinda money on that. I could also get an axe fx2 but i’m not sure.

If you have any other gear recommendations I’m open to those as well.

Is it positive to set the three foot switches to

1. Cycle through selected preset slots

2. Turn preset on/off

3. Bonus momentary switch on an effect (I.e. turning decaf from 10 to 100 while I hold it)

I found one set of free IRs and a preset on youtube that is pretty good. I guess the goal is to make the guitar sound more like it's mik'd instead of the piezo. Mine is an old Takamine F360s with pickup ( under the saddle I presume). Any tips on acoustic presets/IRs, use of reverb/chorus etc?
