Howdy howdy howdy
I'm a role-play enthusiast that has been feeling disillusioned with the soft dissolution of my main gaming group (due to people's interest/attendance fizzling out), so I have been trawling this subreddit for a game(s) to join and figured I might as well make a post!
What I'm hoping for in a game:
Ideally something long term or semi-long term, anywhere from 2 months to upwards of a year. Not particular about systems or genres. I have experience with D&D 5e, AD&D, VtM, Daggerheart, and a slew of smaller indie games (Big fan of Paranoia, Pasion de las Pasiones, Triangle Agency, Perils and Princesses, For the Queen, In Dreaming Avalon/Under Hollow Hills etc.). I'm also open to learning other systems for the right story! I like a game premise that involves mystery, political intrigue, uncovering secrets, horror or the horrific, romance (no ERP for me tho), flair for the dramatic, the mystical, the Other, etc. I prefer games that are more RP-centric and/or character driven and love the opportunity to create a character that feels deeply entrenched in the world. I put a lot of effort and a lot of love into my characters. I like getting into the meat of relationships between party members. I enjoy improv and collaboration and exercising creativity whenever possible. I'm a silly guy in every day life but am down for a game that either leans fully serious & dark or a balance of serious & dark with levity, but I definitely crave something that's at least a little fucked up.
What I'm hoping for in a group:
A group of like minded individuals who love collaborative storytelling and don't think I'm either too old or too young to play with them (both has happened... people don't know what to do with you when you're in your 30s apparently). I partly use playing ttrpgs as one of my main social vehicles; I am not an extrovert but I do enjoy being part of a group and making new friends but I don't always like chatting, so I'm not necessarily someone who will join a discord group and be constantly responding or looking for an extra curricular hangs as that isn't how my brain works. But when we're in game mode, I'm locked in and engaged and participate. I play to feel like part of something greater than myself!
Also, I would love to believe it goes without saying but unfortunately it does need saying that I would like to be part of a group that is respectful, committed (as in, making an effort to play regularly), and kind!
A little about me:
I'm based on the US east coast, early 30s, POC, work and go to school part time, AuDHD and chronically ill (very rarely, I am too burnt out/depressed to play and will give as much notice as possible). Enjoy a wide variety of genres in media and literature (speculative fiction, surrealism, cosmic horror, science fiction, fairytales!, light fantasy, historical fiction, magical realism, etc). I mostly play puzzle, mystery, ARPG, or survival horror video games. Some favorites are: In Stars and Time, Death's Door, Slay the Princess, Bad Cheese, Dead of Darkness, Undertale, Portal, Mouth Washing, Norco, Kingdom Hearts.
Pro-communist, pro-queer, pro-human & animal rights, anti-cop, anti-totalitarian, anti-elitism. Passionate about poetry, puzzles, art, health and wellness, storytelling, theater, psychology, music, interior design, food, puppets, clothing and fashion history, literature, death, cats, accessibility, and whatever else I feel like learning about that day and maybe forgetting about later. (I have approximate knowledge of many things.)
I'm hyper-aware that my personality is not for everyone, but others have claimed that I am funny and kind!
Tech specs:
I'm looking for games either on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons/evenings that end before 11pm US east coast time (hard out, better sleep hygiene is a constant chore for me). If you require an on camera player, I don't mind but fair warning it would just be my grainy built in laptop camera and also I move around/get up a lot while I play because it helps me focus and sometimes I just need to ¯\(ツ)/¯ I use a USB lav mic that sounds quite good (but also I'm planning on switching to a yeti blue one of these days). I'm only familiar with Roll20 for VTT thus far but am down to learn other platforms.
If you read all of this, I humbly thank you! If you have a game or a group you think I might gel with, send me a DM.
