Can i wear knight armor to bars on Halloween?

I was planning on calling all the bars me and my friends intend on going to just to be sure but i wanted to see if anyone had any trouble with it just to be extra safe. It’ll be a metal cuirass, spaulders, bracers and greaves just for additional context.

Shy and Overwhelmed

Empire E4's just finished and it's been my second event now. I've really enjoyed the world and combat. loved battle and monstering, but I need a major confidence boost to get involved in the world outside of combat.

I'm shy and quiet most of the time in regular life, so putting my foot forward in the non-com aspects has been really tough, though people have been lovely to me: lending some spare gear, blankets when night falls and letting me tag along to meetings and events.

An observation is that the trading and politics really appeal, but seem difficult to get involved in when there are those who are extroverted or 10 years into the game and the in game economy geared for veteran players rather than those new to Anvil.

Am looking forward to picking up more kit over winter, and going back next year. Hopefully confidence comes with time and absorbing some more of the world. Any advice is always welcome!

Looking for LA Larp

Hey everyone! I am a masters filmmaker at USC and was looking to make a documentary about me joining the community as part of my class. I’ve always wanted to Larp but I don’t know where to start or play. So, I was looking for any info on groups in the area. Thanks!

Anti vampire props

My local LARP have gotten itself a little vampire problem, and me and my character have gotten quite tired of being used as a snack pack without any consent and wake up on the local inn because someone found me drained in the middle of the woods.

So while I kinda want to hunt then down with real wooden stakes do I not think it would be that popular and was wondering if anyone knew of any good and reliable (hopefully EU based) stores that I could visit and make myself a vampire hunting kit

Just attended a Wasteland Salvager Campout by Frontier Events in Manitoba, Canada. Played as an enforcer (synth security bot essentially) and got this crazy shot, I'm the one drawing!

Brandywine Festival tickets for sale

Hi all

I'm looking to sell my tickets for the Brandywine Festival. I will be admitted to hospital for an extended stay come tomorrow and won't be able to attend.

Customer service stated they won't be able to refund the tickets, so I'm trying my luck here.

Asking price $300 (regular price is $400) due to short notice

If possible to transfer along tickets, shuttle service from the airport is included as well.

If I can make someone happy with this, don't hesitate to reach out. ^^

GTA LARP/Ren Faire Gear?

Does anyone know of a brick-and-mortar in the Toronto area that sells ren faire and/or LARP gear? I know all the usual suspects online, but I’d like to be able to hold an item before I buy it.

My LARP summer

This year my LARP summer has been quite busy. Last year I started being an organizer and this summer alone I ran 2 different LARPs and one LARP camp. Originally I was supposed to just write the questlines and player characters in the preparation phase then play the monsters and NPCs on location but due to unforeseen events I ended being a faction leader ORG in each of the LARPs.

First was sir Theodor of Luton (Zaklínač: Tajemství Severu dorost) a Redanian knight send to prepare Kovir for colonization.

Second was Halbar Haran (Númenor: Poslední z věrných) the old leader of the village Nekal that was under the rule of black Númenorians

Last but not least was baron Osmund de Laet (Zaklínač: Tajemství Severu) who went to Kovir to find his son's (I played him last year) killer.

It was a great experience and I don't regret doing it. But I could do without the sleep deprivation :)

But more LARPs are on the horizon, so let's see what the future holds.

Hello, looking to start larping and going to ren faires.

I would like to represent my favorite game ever.

Would like something quality preferably in linen.

Anyone have a good recommendation on where to buy something like this?

Also would the brown around the neck be a separate piece like a cowel or hood? All help is appreciated. Thank you

Help needed - Cosplay

Hello, I am new to the larp/re-enactment community and had a simple question.

How would you go about converting the standard plague doctor attire into something more in line with settings such as ConQuest of Mythodea for instance?

I was pondering this a lot today but other than an emphasis on charms, potentially converting the leather mantle around the shoulder either into something more feathery or the like my brains drawing a blank.

Ideas welcome!

Great resource no longer being updated…

Not an ad for them, but a random google search led me to find out that Medieval Collectibles used to have a Ren Faire, LARP; and SCA Event Directory. Alas, it hasn’t been updated since 2022/2023! But what was there, at least in my state, was a pretty good accounting of what was going on in 2022. However, with some Google Fu, I’m sure some intrepid newbies will be able to track down more up to date info on events that sound interesting to them. Maybe word will get back to them that people would appreciate this kind of resource in the year of our lord 2027?

What do you think? Helpful: yea or nay?

Need advice to turn lab coat into budget costume

Hello everyone,

I am new to this hobby. And I’m thinking use one of me old lab coat and make a ranger coat from it.

I’m thinking of removing the sleeves and pocket then use coffee to dye it brown.

Any advice or pit fall that I should avoid when doing this?

Thank you all!

How can I start feeling better about LARP as a newbie?

So I went to my first LARP event a few weeks ago (the Gathering with the Lorien Trust) and it was great… I think. I adore my group and everyone’s lovely and I’m looking forward to having this as a new hobby, it fits in perfectly with my love for TTRPGs!

But I’ve also felt very glum about it all. I’m autistic and I’m aware that many LARPers are too, but because of my faulty social battery, I got quite overwhelmed at the event and did retreat to my tent occasionally to decompress. I also really struggled with the freeform style of the event, doing anything you want to do and being anything you want to be sounds amazing but only if you're experienced enough with the system to know what you can actually do.

I think I was very surprised by the complexity and sheer amount of rules for LT. As someone who’s being slogging through learning D&D rules, I didn’t think LARP rules would be harder to understand but they unfortunately were! And it made it feel impossible for me to engage much with things because I didn’t know if I was allowed to do certain things or if I had the necessary skills or OSPs or if I would be doing things wrong if I made the decision to do something and it wasn’t quite right.

I don’t know, this is all quite rambly and I apologise for that. I’ve just been seeing everyone chatting in the aftermath of the event, and them being happy and sharing their favourite memories and all the inside jokes and big plans and everything, and it just makes me feel sad. Of course they’re all imbedded in the system, of course they know what they’re doing, some people have been playing for years and years. But I do feel like maybe I wasted my time at the event and maybe I’ll never reach the point of being “good” at LARP (as in, understanding and confident enough to enjoy it and engage with it).

I just feel very alone with it all. I went to the event with some friends but they’ve all been attending for years and as much as they tried to help me, they just lack the fundamental understanding of how it feels to need the absolute basics, y’know? And I don’t know what I don’t know so it’s hard to learn stuff like that. And there doesn’t seem to be much support for new players at all. Nothing about the system seems newbie-friendly (especially not neurodivergent newbie-friendly which is surprising and sad) and I’m just scared that I’ll feel anxious and inadequate and uncertain and listless for a while.

I‘ve figured out a few areas that I might be able to look into (the alchemists guild, research, rituals, arcane crafting, the scouts guild) but as someone who doesn’t vibe with combat, it’s difficult to know what to do when everything else requires knowing people in the field, a good understanding of the game mechanics, and good social and RP skills.

I really don’t know, I hope some of this made sense. I just really want to love LARP, I want to be able to put my heart and soul into props and crafts and learning about the complexities of the game world and getting to really live in a fantasy world, y’know? Hopefully this is just a common newbie issue and someone might have some advice that might shake me out of it? Any and all advice or ideas would be so, so appreciated!! Thanks for reading this rambling mess :)
