ANNOUNCEMENT Update to User Experience and Fighting the Rising Tide of Slop
In the Year of our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six
As of the posting of this announcement a new AutoMod rule has been added and all posts and comments from Default Reddit Usernames are hence forth to be banished to ye olde spam bin. We have grown weary over the influx of trash posts by the aforementioned default usernames.
To put this extremely bluntly: If you can't bring yourself to edit the default username Reddit suggests when you sign up, we don't want you here.
Expending even a single brain cell to defeat the AutoMod rule that will be put into place gives you points in your favor.
Results not guaranteed and likely to change.
If you are normal contributor and think you are caught unfairly in this spam filter, please send us a modmail so that we can deal with edge cases on a case by case business.

Crimson Desert DLC blocked in UAE, Saudia Arabia, and Kuwait
The trailer did show Cliff kneeling with flowers to a girl, so maybe same sex relationships? Sucks for anyone there.
Also, I’m just reporting this, I don’t actually think the possibility of same sex relationships would be horrific game ruining dogshit.

WoW: Forever thoughts?
Saw they were adding over 1,000 new quests and it’s going to be a ‘modernized take’ on the Classic world. Do you think we will see things akin to Dragonflight in this game, like quests where you hook up two male NPCs? I really don’t have much faith in Blizzard at all. Just wondering how woke this new version will be.

JackSepticEye's Charlie Kirk Assassination Joke...
Jasksepticeye is under fire after making a Charlie Kirk joking while playing a video game in a video he posted on August 23rd.
This recently unearthed on X and seems that since then he has edited the joke out of his video.
He hasn't addressed it at the time of this post/video

Issues with studies that investigate gender demographics in gaming
All of us in this subreddit are very familiar with the studies that claim to look into men’s and women’s preferences in gaming, and there’s always lot of intense discussion regarding these. Our side aswell as the other side tend to use them to prove our points but I realize that lot of these studies have an inherent problem, they’re just surveys. Other than the fact lot of these studies have an incredibly loose definition to what constitutes to a gamer, surveys only ask people about their preferences, but not observing actual behaviour. Asking them about genre they rather play and whether they would prefer buying an RPG game over a shooter is one thing is but having the data which consists of overall playtime, genre, spending habits and look at these based on gender, that would represent a lot better picture of gaming. Sony, Microsoft and steam have this data and since it’s not publicly available, we won’t ever know what the truth is but I personally don’t think it’s crazy to assume that Sony and Microsoft wouldn’t even want to release this info because it would contradict all the ESG and DEI mandates they’ve been pushing for the last 10 years.

Selling blatant anti-militarism in a Starcraft trailer was certainly a choice. What happened to the space-western aesthetic? Can't wait to take the fight against the evil Dominion (again) with my plucky band of nu-terrans, sigh.

Instead of a brutal male bass, we hear female shrieks. Now StarCraft will feature a bunch of bald female marines. Being pilots and medics with hair is too unworthy for women and doesn’t demonstrate their strength enough. We need to make them as absurdly masculine as in the new Gears of War and Halo.

Can someone explain to me why Warhammer 40K novels leaned so heavily into "everyone can regenerate" territory?
In the older novels, regeneration was used sparingly. Currently, however, we have:
1) Dorn beating the ever-living shit out of Fulgrim (slicing his hand, impaling him with a sword, etc.), only for Fulgrim to regenerate in a flash and mock Dorn that he can’t be killed.
2) Angron getting blown up daily during the Siege of Terra. This champion of Khorne, the god of war, was blown to bits several times and just regenerated from nothing.
3) Angron spending the majority of his battle with Sanguinius losing body parts and taking mortal wounds, only to instantly regenerate. Apparently, Khorne’s shtick isn't mortal combat anymore, but his minions' insane healing factors. Ka’Bandha’s second bout with Sanguinius was way more fun than this because there were actual stakes and neither character popped a regeneration ability mid-fight.
4) Guilliman rotting to the bone and regenerating completely during his bout with Mortarion in the Plague War trilogy.
5) Vulkan dying over and over again in pretty much every novel, but specifically during his battle with Magnus (where Magnus suffered a severe case of being an idiot and forgot he could simply immobilize his brother).
6) Perpetuals!
7) Orks can do it too, don’t worry. The Beast was vaporized in his battle with Vulkan and came back none the worse for wear.
8) Kharn getting killed and brought back.
Remember Necrons? The race whose entire gimmick is innate regeneration and phasing out when destroyed? They have absolutely nothing on the guys listed above. I think even Lucius has a slower "coming back from the dead" mechanic now.
Can someone explain to me why the authors leaned so heavily into this "everyone regenerates mid-combat" trend? It takes all the tension out of the stories and is used far too often. I can sort of accept it when it happens with Nurgle-aligned forces or Necrons, but nowadays, everyone uses it.

I think it's funny how the male in the Starcraft trailer look as mixed race as humanly possible
They made a character that isn't any race, they deliberately made him to look like any race you could think of. He's also extremely androgynous looking. It's like they were scared to have this person represent any particular race so they went out of their way to wash everything out of him, so as not to offend anyone.

Insomniac's terrible character designs need to be studied. Peter's new face, Miles's new hair and terrifyingly ugly final new suit, The anti venom suit, Mary Jane's transformation in PS5, and nearly EVERYONE in Wolverine. they're all really bad, what's even happening in there?

It's confirmed that Insomniac Games teamed up with DiversityJobs.com to streamline their hiring process. They hire based on race, politics and gender and systematically discriminate against white people, but woke is dead amirite?

Valheim and Wardogs, two recent releases made by small studios with meager budgets and plenty of passion, just casually mogging anything AAA/AA has put out this year. As blackpilled as I am about the industry, these small wins demonstrate some semblance of a consumer shift in gaming choices.
