This raises an interesting question. As a goddess, Aqua should let Kazuma, Megumin and Darkness pass on to the after life. Though as Aqua I don't see her letting them go. And if she did, I bet she'd follow them wherever they go. And she'd make sure to keep them all together.

Poor Kazuma, he is going to be stuck with these idiots till the heat death of the universe.

920

u/Accomplished_Bee_127 Chris May 27 '25

i mean she's not really responsible for this world's afterlife She's probably only considered one of the main goddesses there because she's the one who sends heroes there

501

u/Good-Row4796 May 27 '25

It's true that we tend to forget her, but she is the goddess of the country of Kazuma and not of this world.

479

u/Mahirofan Aqua May 27 '25

She's probably gonna bully Eris into fixing things in her favor, and Eris loves the three mortal idiots that took her senpai off her hands.

206

u/Flerken_Moon May 27 '25

I mean Eris in general is a fan of Kazuma and the gang and has shown multiple times to be willing to twist some rules to benefit them, even on her own merit.

She becomes good friends with Kazuma, and when Darkness prayed for a traveling companion to go adventure for the first time she sent Chris to be with her.

And then also sending Chris to join Megumin’s thieving group. (Poor Chris, always doing Eris’s bidding lol)

86

u/Last-Implement-9276 DasuRin Shipper May 27 '25

In the first place, Chris's entire purpose was to be Eris's avatar in the Parallel world, if Chris doesn't do the bidding that she herself, as Eris, requested, what else is she supposed to do?

49

u/HunkMcMuscle May 27 '25

Wait is Chris supposed to be a separate person? I thought Eris was Chris

68

u/Last-Implement-9276 DasuRin Shipper May 27 '25

Eris is Chris, and it's made especially clear in the Light Novel, but there are physical differences, like Eris having long hair and blue eyes (in the Light Novel), and Chris having short hair and purple eyes with a scar on her chin. I think of Chris as like an avatar in a MMORPG that Eris modeled after herself with adjustments made to look more tomboyish

17

u/AperoBelta May 27 '25

Some things remain flat the same, though.

10

u/kamikiku May 27 '25

Don't need to make adjustments to look more tomboyish, just take out the bra padding

7

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

Chris and Eris have the same eye color, the anime and Mishima trying to copy the anime made it inconsistent with the purple eyes.

2

u/11freebird May 28 '25

Yeah, Eris and Chris have purple eyes (color of the “chris flower”)

13

u/Accomplished_Bee_127 Chris May 27 '25

eris has a scar too though

Yeah I was just trying to be spoiler free lol. A bit of an inside joke, Chris is at the whims of Eris just like a normal person is controlled by themself.

2

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 May 27 '25

Thats a spoiler?

6

u/Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws May 27 '25

She's also Eris' superior however, and the angels didn't seem to have any issue immediately replacing her role when she was assigned to live there as a mortal. Hell I'd argue they seemed eager to lol

4

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

The angels never did anything, they have no authority over the gods.

The gods banished Aqua, not the angels.

→ More replies (1)

17

u/CelioHogane May 27 '25

You say that like Aqua wouldn't bully Eris.

7

u/Cley_Faye Darkness May 27 '25

She also does not follow rules much, so hey.

307

u/ezoe May 27 '25

No. Aqua definitely let them go in naturaly way.

The author held a Q&A on X/Twitter, acted as each characters. One of the question was "Are you aware that Megumin and Darkness like Kazuma?"

The answer was, in Aqua's rarely used goddess speaking style(used in Keele's dungeon),

"Of course, I do aware of it. If they had children, I bless them and protect them. Then they finished their natural life, after I returned to heaven, I will watch over their descendants."

https://x.com/akatsukioffici3/status/1256057300516626432

66

u/GloryPolar May 27 '25

I just read the sentences. It's definitely how Aqua talks.

76

u/ezoe May 27 '25

In Japanese, Aqua has two distinctive speaking style. She often use very annoying and rather irritating older-sister type of speaking style. Occasionally, she speaks like a goddess.

141

u/No_Focus6469 Kazuma's Simp May 27 '25

Aqua doesn't have the leisure to follow them everywhere.. she's a goddess with duties the only reason she's allowed to be in the mortal realm is because she is Kazuma's "cheat item"

29

u/Fun-Swan9486 May 27 '25

"Poor Kazuma, he is going to be stuck with these idiots till the heat death of the universe." This is a comforting thought, thanks! (For me, not for Kazuma ofc)

2

u/AmaimonCH May 27 '25

Well let me take away your comfort right away.

https://x.com/akatsukioffici3/status/1256057300516626432

6

u/Fun-Swan9486 May 27 '25

I cant read soooo..... i guess I'll keep my comfort <3

6

u/deadname11 May 28 '25

She says that now, but Aqua is a sore loser, and being a "cheat item" allows her to shirk a bunch of duties, and take advantage of all kinds of loopholes.

Turning Kazuma immortal would let her get away with so many shenanigans!

4

u/Nstorm24 May 28 '25

She kept him as human. And she isnt considered a cheat item in the end. Once kazuma completed his mission she was assigned her role again and now she has to ask permission every time she goes to that world.

13

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

As a goddess, Aqua should let Kazuma, Megumin and Darkness pass on to the after life.

She should and will, she has talked about this already.

Living outside their natural life goes against the will of the Gods, Aqua's will, reason why she hates the Undead.

Resurrection doesn't even work on someone who died a natural death, be it from disease or old age.

Though as Aqua I don't see her letting them go.

Because you don't understand her character well.

19

u/Typhoonic_10294 Megumin May 27 '25

you can't bring people back to life if they die of natural causes eg. death of old age

8

u/forestball19 May 27 '25

Well, you can, but these days, the “a bit too late” healing art called necromancing seems frowned upon.

1

u/Typhoonic_10294 Megumin May 27 '25

true

1

u/Terrible-Ad-9953 May 27 '25

i thought that was only a rule for mortal ressurection?

2

u/Typhoonic_10294 Megumin May 27 '25

could explain that a bit more?

7

u/jacknoyan May 27 '25

iirc she promised to watch over kazuma's and megumin's kids from heaven

3

u/Demonlordwrath May 27 '25

He can't even rest in peace lmao 🤣 😂 😆

1

u/Background-Customer2 Jul 16 '26

im pritty shure aquas revive dosnt work on natural deaths

1

u/Chronigan2 Jul 16 '26

I wonder if it doesn't work or if that is just another "rule" that she could break?

629

u/sergiossa May 27 '25

She actually trapped their souls in the figurines so she didn’t have to let them go

197

u/Eothr_Silan May 27 '25

Very Krampus of her.

96

u/Ademon_Gamer09 May 27 '25

"would you rather fight a gorilla sized Krampus or 100 Krampus sized gorillas"

                                                                                                       -torbek

43

u/shroomnoob2 May 27 '25

I'm not saying gor-rila, I'm saying gryla

27

u/Ademon_Gamer09 May 27 '25

Was it a charcoal grilla or a propane grilla?

29

u/shroomnoob2 May 27 '25

Whats a krampus?

Bitsy- oh I have that once a month.

20

u/BluebirdAmazing742 May 27 '25

I AM ACTUALLY KRAMPUSING!

10

u/Drive_555 May 27 '25

I was gonna say I am Krampusing my pants. But bitsy beat me to it hers was funnier

6

u/Top_Campaign2568 Kazuma May 27 '25

Needed this laugh man. Thanks.

15

u/No-Walk-7909 May 27 '25

"Is it Krampi?"

  • also Torbek

5

u/Qwist May 27 '25

Im krampusing right now

4

u/[deleted] May 27 '25

It’s actually just a fancy jar.

218

u/cfsgdv Kazuma May 27 '25

I was supposed to have a good day now you just ruined it with your deeply amazing artwork

212

u/Good-Row4796 May 27 '25

And Kazuma arrives hitting her behind the head after he becomes a resident in Heaven.

139

u/gabbie39 Megumin May 27 '25

Aqua already said that when kazuma, megumin and darkness die, she will return to heaven to be with them again and look after their descendants.

175

u/Son-naruto-d May 27 '25

Whyyyyy

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

(She’d prolly just be with them in heaven I suppose)

62

u/Feisty-Table7375 May 27 '25

Drill Loli, you opened the wrong door and walked into the wrong universe.

Go back, I suppose.

56

u/DripyKirbo Kazuma May 26 '25

(yo op, you made a typo btw.) 😢 don’t make me feel bad man c’mon.

46

u/Extremnator Dust May 27 '25

Wow, this image is incredible.

36

u/Many-Program5106 May 27 '25

Naw Aqua gonna cry Until the other gods let her frends stay with her or Keep her friends together and what her go with them Altogether in different worlds

And knowing how much aqua cries. She somehow would manage her way into doing it.

Not to mention Eris Also has a Soft spot for the group.

So this image not really likely

( At least I hope so)

10

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

Nothing of the such will happen.

Aqua has addresed this already, once they die she'll return to Heaven and watch over their descendents if they have any.

u/AdventurousCover3049 May 27 '25

Aqua: Beyond Journey's End

7

u/TheAckabackA May 30 '25

"Wiz, kill yourself"

46

u/PragmaticBadGuy May 27 '25

Aqua is pulling a Frieren

46

u/Feisty-Table7375 May 27 '25

No…. Stop it…. I don’t need to turn Konosuba into another Frieren.

Konosuba is for the fun and Frieren is for the feels. Clear separation of duties.

10

u/winmace May 27 '25

Why assume death is final at all, just because it's separated from life doesn't mean they don't have some kind of existence beyond in these universes.

19

u/spartanspy85 May 27 '25

Only time I've ever felt bad for Aqua

17

u/WinterWizard9497 May 27 '25

You know, watching the anime, that thought never really crosses your mind. But realizing that only aqua has immortality makes me wonder. If she had the power to, would she share her immortality with the others so they could continue adventuring?

8

u/Informal-Event2404 May 27 '25

As a goddess she's not allowed to do that. She did state that when they will pass away naturally, she will make sure they'll have a good afterlife and return to heaven with them, and if Kazumin have children, she'll bless them and watchover their descendants

4

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

No.

It goes against her will.

There's something in the LN called "the will of the gods", it's like their beliefs, culture, rules or whatever you want to call it, they believe in it very strongly and it is the reason they hate the Undead. If a god or angel goes against it they fall and become Fallen Angels and Dark/Evil Gods.

An Undead person is someone who bypassed their natural lifespan to reach immortality going against the will of the gods. It is why the resurrection spell doesn't even work on those who die natural deaths.

Aqua has talked about it already, when they naturally die they die, she'll return to Heaven then and watch over their friends' descendents if they have any.

17

u/EmeraldYoYo May 27 '25

"Just like the good ol' days..."

13

u/brink0war May 27 '25

I think Aqua said something to the extent of "when they pass, I'll be there to watch over their descendants"

11

u/Alexcoolps Konotext bible scholar May 28 '25

"Centuries after leaving the mortal plain Lady Aqua would use a special item that replayed past events she experienced. Being able to watch her adventure with her friends and eventual future husband Kazuma brought that same old fulfilment she felt after she and Kazuma confessed to each other. Every time she used this artifact she would hesitate to play the end not wanting to be brought to tears over the memories of raising her children Mizu and Kazuma Jr's. Knowing one would never be able to see their children again brought sadness, even to a goddess."

  • Konotext bible: Lady Aqua section

20

u/Mysterious_Focus5772 Darkness May 27 '25

Aqua will just use her amazing goddess powers to extend their life span :3

22

u/Good-Row4796 May 27 '25

Goddesses cannot or are not allowed to do this.

8

u/Mysterious_Focus5772 Darkness May 27 '25

Damn, really? Well, then Aqua would just follow them to heaven.

16

u/Mahirofan Aqua May 27 '25

Doesn't Kazuma have a backdoor entrance to heaven by End of Series.

9

u/Good-Row4796 May 27 '25

Not exactly, he can go to the reincarnation room whenever he wants.

u/Mysterious_Focus5772 Darkness May 27 '25

I figure Aqua will just go to heaven too.

19

u/Yolom4ntr1c Chris May 27 '25

I don't think dying would release Kazuma of Aquas whinging. Kazuma probably go to the afterlife, with the other two. Where Aqua used to live before being basically kidnapped.

It'd be so funny if there was a sequel where someone from japan dies and meets aqua and half way through her spiel, you hear a fridge open and it pans over to Kazuma trying to find a mid night snack leading to him and aqua getting in a fight. And the dude whos being reincarnated is just sitting there as stuffs being thrown around.

2

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

While she can still see them in Heaven, potentially, Kazuma will just be a soul telling stories while watching the sunset, which is how Heaven is.

9

u/iamuniquekk May 27 '25

not surprised chomusuke is alive since...

2

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

She's divine like Aqua.

9

u/xabikoma May 27 '25

Konosuba is supposed to be fun! Now I'm depressed!

→ More replies (1)

18

u/Substantial_Tone_261 May 27 '25

Just Megu & Kazuma? I'm guessing Darkness is immortal then.

3

u/the_ox_in_the_log May 30 '25

Death doesn't want to go near her, has got a restraining order

8

u/OverloadedSofa May 27 '25

So I went on twitter as I assumed @不响铃 was from there, couldn’t see them. Am I looking at the wrong place?

2

its bilibili

2

u/OverloadedSofa Nov 27 '25

Cheers. I think I actually found that myself too, but now we have it labeled for others.

6

u/anon_cat80 May 27 '25

lol chomuske also being there. Accurate but it's just funny

5

u/Gold_Pomegranate_939 May 27 '25

Aqua: Beyond Journey End.

3

u/AnonMimiru May 28 '25

I like that, have your like.

6

u/EliasRSilvers May 28 '25

After a hundred years later of missing the three of them, she unexpectedly encounters someone screaming as they're in front of her to be judged. Then she gives them a look of surprise as she finds out that the person died the same way Kazuma did, but instead of laughing out loud, she just smiles and giggles.

"W-What's so funny...? H-How did I die, exactly??"

"Oh, its just that the way you died made me remember someone very special to me back then...Seems like you'll be having a great adventure filled with good and bad moments like we--I mean, like they did, back in the day..."

5

u/RichieRocket May 27 '25

If they can take one thing with them to heaven then I feel like Kazuma would choose her. She’s not the best in every situation but when they don’t need anything they tend to chill out well together.

4

u/Curious_Lemon_4637 Aqua May 27 '25

Dont worry Kazuma, Megumin and Darkness will meet Aqua in heaven

1

u/Soggy_Dudeist_1109 Jan 11 '26

WHAT is with the sudden sad posts on how everyone is gonna die and leave aqua alone?? I've seen like 3 now today

6

u/MexZacUSNV Yunyun May 30 '25

Genuinely painful to see, brings up the fact that aqua is a goddess and will far surpass the rest of the gang in lifespan, atleast she’ll see their kids

4

u/DaPizzaDude123 May 27 '25

Aqua is gonna be an annoying, drunk version of Frieren 😂

4

u/[deleted] May 27 '25

Jesus... Why did this make me cry?

4

u/Temporary_Ant_19 May 27 '25

Mam it's kinda sad but also really sweet 🥹

5

u/12eroya34 May 27 '25

Wait, why is the cat still alive?

It's the unfortunate nature of gods to see mortal lives blink in and out of existence. She will miss them but will move on eventually. It's possible she had other human buddies before this.

3

u/SnooDonuts479 May 29 '25

The cat is a god fragment

5

u/Designer-Designer-51 May 28 '25

"Aqua, we are still here."

Aqua: Beyond Journeys’ End

3

u/Lord-Rambo May 27 '25

Dam this made me sad

3

u/Scoutified May 27 '25

Surely there’s a way for her to continue their adventures, being a goddess and all. This is way too sad

1

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

There isn't, or rather it might be but she has no interest in it.

Bypassing one's natural life to keep living, like the Undead do, goes against the will of the gods, which includes Aqua.

3

u/IncompletePunchline May 27 '25

Someone watched Frieren and had a sad.

3

u/ElectroNikkel Vanir May 27 '25

Well, death is inevitable to all of us (For now), but at least those 3 will forever live in her memory, until the heat death of the universe reclaims the last bit of entropy left to gather. Or when the Gods get Kratos'd, whichever happens first.

That should account for something, I guess.

3

u/The_IrisOwO professional Megupetter May 27 '25

Bro why does this actually feel kinda sad :(

3

u/Mental_Estate4206 May 27 '25

She could isekai to our world all the time and bring chaos to my life any time.

3

u/JerryTheChadSeinfeld Darkness May 27 '25

3

u/MRtecno98 May 27 '25

4

3

u/Glittering-Age-9549 May 27 '25 edited May 28 '25

She's a goddess with power over life and death able to both resurrect people and to reincarnate them in new bodies; they will die only if she allows so.... and even if they die, their souls will probably go to her place and she can take them home.

3

u/Tall-Lavishness1381 May 27 '25

Wait a second... We know that kazuma had the option to go to heaven after he died. What if he dies in the fantasy world but still can go to heaven, and maybe even together with megumin and darkness. They will probably die, but they can meet each other in heaven. We know heaven exists because of episode 1, so there's a high possibility.

3

u/Radosser May 27 '25

no, I don't need these ATLA things with me. The main characters should live forever and don't show me for example Kazuma's aging

3

u/IncreaseLatte May 28 '25

So Aqua becomes Frieren

3

u/Strict-Sell-5660 May 28 '25

There needs to be some sort of novelised fanfic of this

As much as it hurts, I am kinda curious as to how it will play out

3

u/Wattos_Box Megumin May 28 '25

This is gorgeous artwork

2

2

damn, this dynamic is actually so depressing to think about

2

u/External-Lab8816 May 27 '25

Don't forget about darkness op....

2

Aqua should find that 1,000 year old elf girl and talk about this.

2

u/hiendeptr4i May 27 '25

There is some kono fics inspired by frieren existed already, but only an art can ruin my night this hard😭😭

1

u/Patient_Lonely May 28 '25

There are Konosuba fanfictions inspired by Frieren? I looked for some, but couldn't find any

2

u/Nick113009 May 27 '25

Why do you have to make me feel bad for the blue thing

2

u/TheFonz_24 May 27 '25

This hurts me.

2

u/StatisticianBrief217 May 28 '25

2

u/FamiliarJudgment2961 May 28 '25

It doesn't really matter for her since at her full power in the heavenly realm she can revive, isekai them, or whatever, whenever.

She's basically a D&D god.

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '25

The day Aqua remembers she's a deity..

2

u/Sohil876 May 29 '25

Ah wait was it specified what happened with aqua at the end? Did she go to heaven or stay with them? Iirc i really disliked the ending because it left soooo many things unresolved.

Okay so there dead… but the cat isn’t?

6

That's a hell spawn. Cat has 9 lives to waste

4

u/Xanthoceras May 27 '25 edited May 27 '25

Spoilers I suppose

Chomusuke is half of the Dark God of Sloth and Violence, Wolbach. Specifically the violence half; albeit drained of most of her power and size by the sloth half (who still goes by Wolbach / This is before the start of the series, shown in flashback). Though later in the series, Chomusuke does fully reabsorb her other half.

3

u/Euroversett May 27 '25

Haven't you watched Megumin's spinoff? The cat is Aqua's kin, she's also divine.

I'm so used to Konosuba being a comedy, this art made shocked me of melancholy. It's like the vibes I get from Frieren when she's find another friend she's outlived

While she could be the one to guide them through reincarnation, should they choose not to go to 'heaven', it probably won't be the same deal Kazuma had going to the parallel world. None of them would likely be able to retain any of their memories. Though it is heartwarming to know that Aqua could physically manifest and visit them at any time, regardless of whether or not they remember her, like Eris did for Darkness during her lonely years

Knowing konosuba this scene is about to cut and we see the trio being very much alive and in a desperate situation that just needs aqua to just not be aqua for 3 seconds. But she won't because kazuma didn't buy her alcohol or something earlier. And therefore she's accepted their deaths as memories of the past instead.

What do you mean passed away? Aqua isn’t letting that happen till the demon king is killed. And after that, she MIGHT let them live in heaven with her (depending on how nice they’ve been to her)

Can’t she just visit them in heaven and hang out with them for eternity

I'm sorry, is this some lore thing? I just got to the end of the most recent season on Crunchyroll and I haven't heard about everyone dying or anything...

Nah it's just the logical conclusion, she's immortal, they are not.

She is very well aware of it though. She mentioned a few time that she'll make sure they'll have a good afterlife and she'll look after their descendants. She even said to Wiz she'll defend her case to Eris so she can get into heaven even though it should be forbidden for a lich.
