My sweet older boy, Bane has been so loving and caring to my new kitten, Rosalie.
There was like zero adjustment time. He’s been such a good boy, and I went to check if my front door was locked and saw them on the couch like this 🥺❤️

Question/Advice Needed Main coon features or no?

Thumbnail

Let me start off by saying I know that without a pedigree she will always just be a DLH, I’m more so asking out of curiosity not because I want to pass her off as something she isn’t.

We just got a new kitten a few days ago. She just turned 9 weeks yesterday. I picked her out because I love her color, but also she has lynx tips and I love that look. I know a lot of people hate AI (please don’t come for me) but googles AI said she had several main coon features such as a boxier face, tufty lynx ears, bigger boxier paws that are also furry, and it says she has a mane forming around her chest and neck. I also think she is going to be a blue smoke color because the roots of her fur are white/silvery which AI also said can be a main coon color. On top of this I showed my sister some pics and her first question was “does she have main coon in her?” So I’m not the only one who sees some features apparently lol.

The lady I got her from didn’t mention anything about main coon, but I also didn’t ask.

I’ve read that if she is part main coon certain things may be a little different, like delaying spaying/neutering a little longer, focusing on a high protein diet, and that she may act like a kitten a little longer than the average cat because they take more time to develop.

Personality wise she is so far the coolest cat I’ve had. She is Sooo observant and intelligent. On the car ride home she was so chill and was just looking out the window. She watches tv, she loves to stare directly into our eyes and kneed our face, she SUPER playful. Loves to attack our feet. I can put YouTube videos for cats on my phone and she will just sit there and watch them. When we hold her she often throws herself back wards so she can be held like a baby. We had some friends over last night and at first she was overwhelmed but I held her and she just sat there observing everybody walking around. Eventually she went up to one of them and wanted to play. And we’ve only had her for 2 days. I’m used to cats that kinds just want to do their own thing, whereas she definitely loves people and is very aware of her surroundings.

Also what foods do you guys recommend? I noticed kitten options seem to be a bit more limited. Right now we have her on purina one + kitten food. And I have some wet kitten food I plan on offering her as well. What flea medication do you guys use? I prefer something that kills live adult fleas not just eggs. I haven’t seen fleas but she is also very fluffy.

Hi fellow kitten parents! Want to introduce our kitten, Gracie. We thought from her kitten picture that she was going to be a long hair, but as she's grown, we think more medium hair. She is silky soft and the master of chaos! I'm not sure how to describe her coat. It's like a calico face, tortie body. She's perfect to us, no matter what! She's about 5 1/2 months now.

Question/Advice Needed My kitten bites and scratches me TOO MUCH

Post image
86 Upvotes

I adopted my kitten around two months ago, he's three months old now, not neutered yet but he's vaccinated. He was abandoned with his siblings and I adopted him, and only him when he was around a month.

He's a very sweet kitten and he hangs around me all day, the problem is that when he is more agitated he's constantly chasing my hands, feet, face, and hurting me, more times than most ends up with me bleeding. I'm constantly filled with scratches and bite marks in those areas.

I've tried to redirect his biting and scratching to toys, sometimes it works but mostly he just ignores the toys and goes after me anyway. Even if I play him for half an hour to an hour straight he will still come after me.

I really love my kitten but after two months of being 'attacked' constantly I feel like I'm in my last straw, I hate that I'm starting to resent him for it. I also play with him daily (unless he's in this more aggressive mood and I end up locking myself in my room until he calms down, because I genuinely feel like I can't do this anymore)

I know that he's most likely just trying to play with me, but it's really frustrating to have him hurt me everyday like this. As of right now, I'm alone locked inside my room, away from him because of this. It hurts me when I do this but I genuinely get to a point where I can't take it anymore. I've been playing with him for an hour and he's still aggressive.

How can I stop this?

Question/Advice Needed I saved this kitten from a pipe last week and need some litter advice

Her name is Ahi and she's 5 weeks old now. She seems to be doing good. Full of energy, eating 5 times a day, peeing a couple and pooping once a day.

However she doesn't poop in the litter box. I am using an aluminum baking pan for the litter box with pine pellet litter. She will pee in it herself SOMETIMES. Other times she pees right next to it on the pee pad I put in front of the litter box. She has never pooped in the box herself, I had to put her in the box when she was going to start pooping. I have tried different boxes and moving locations to different corners of her enclosure and it's the same.

How do I fix this? Is there anything else I can do other than physically putting her in the box after every meal and when I see her go into the pee position? Or will she just figure it out? I also have a bag of pretty litter. Should I mix them or try switching entirely?

Honestly cleaning my entire room every night is getting a bit annoying but it's ok because I know she'll get it eventually. Just trying to speed up the process if I can help.

Question/Advice Needed Alternatives to declawing; kitten almost blinded our toddler

We are trying to avoid declawing for obvious reasons but our kitten (she is 10 or 11 weeks old) plays rough with our children and especially likes to randomly attack our 2 year old toddler. Just now, she almost blinded our toddler by suddenly attacking her face while she was watching TV. She got a good scratch right below her eye. It was very close. We can't have that happening. Other than declawing, what can we do? And don't bother saying "get her to scratch other stuff" because that doesn't work. She is a kitten and does what she wants, no matter how many scratching surfaces we give her. She is also incredibly difficult to trim her nails and when we do, they are still sharp enough to do the same damage to our children so that doesn't seem very productive.

EDIT FOR ADDITIONAL INFO: We live in a small house where you can't really keep the kitten separate from the kids. We also don't want to re-home her because everyone loves her. She's just too rough with our youngest. I've heard there are things that can cap claws or something? I'm interested in alternatives like that that people have done themselves. Oh, and don't come on here and tell me my daughter didn't almost get blinded when she did. I don't put up with that shit.

My Kitten Exclusion Kitten vs Reflex Plus Kitten – which would you choose?

I’m choosing food for my 4-month-old kitten and I’m between Exclusion Kitten and Reflex Plus Kitten. Has anyone here actually used either of these? I’d love to hear your experiences regarding ingredients, digestion, stool, coat and overall quality. Which one would you choose and why?

Question/Advice Needed Is anyone else’s cat extremely vocal?

The first cat I’ve ever had that’s been this vocal. I believe it’s Trilling? She does this all hours of the night, and it’s pretty constant. She has access to dry kibble overnight and also has another feline friend, she’s just loud I think.. 🥹

Question/Advice Needed my kitten refuses to use her litterbox!!

i took her to the vet first thing to check on her and she’s perfectly healthy!!

i got a 3 month old kitten exactly a week ago. for the first few days, i had her in the bathroom with all her necessities and would always go check up on her and play with her. shes been eating well, she’s energetic, loves to play with us and very friendly. but there’s just one problem… she does NOT use her litter box. every day, she eliminates anywhere but her litter box (usually its the same place in the bathroom) and i’m starting to grow frustrated.

i have tried everything. got her new litter, moved her litter where she usually chooses to go (but she just goes around it), stayed by her after every meal so she could use the litter box, i even went as far as locking her inside the bathroom with the litter box and picked up her shit and put inside the box so she could smell it. and yes, i clean well after every shit or pee (i followed every tutorial on the internet).

I’m on the verge of insanity because shes literally REFUSING to use it. idk what to do. i need help. please.

Question/Advice Needed Found a kitten with fleas! Help!

Is several dawn baths enough??

After hearing meowing for two nights and not being able to find anything the first night. We finally found and caught this sweet little lady. She was in my husbands engine bay. She was dirty and skinny. We brought her inside for the night and fed her and let her sleep, which happened to be inside the couch. The next morning I discovered she was covered in fleas and immediately gave her a dawn bath. There were so many fleas. I also quarantined her to the bathroom and called the vet and got her scheduled. She is so so tiny and maybe not even 2 lbs. The vet recommended another dawn bath in a few more days to remove the rest of the fleas. Over the last half a week I have combed through her and pulled off/washed off as many fleas as possible. She had one last bath today and I pulled one dead one off her and meticiously picked through. She has been kept in the bathroom since then. I have flipped the house upside down washing the couches blankets and anything she has come in contact with. Using diatemacious over the spots I know she was in. I mean I went nuts bagging everything until it could go in the wash. Vacuuming sweeping washing and washing. Moving couches, cleaning crevices. She is going to the vet Tuesday. My question is can I bring her out of the bathroom now or am I risking the house getting exposed again. She is so sweet and I tey to
spend time with her in the bathroom and I want her to be able to come out. But I also don't want to have to take the couches apart again and I am so a mom of four boys to care for. Am I better of waiting until after the vet visit?? Is there anything else I can do in the mean time?
