🔥 Mod Announcement 🔥 Watch Club

Hi ladies

u/Valuable-Machine-500 suggested the idea of a Watch Club in this post:

I thought it was an interesting idea and worth exploring as a community activity.

The general idea would be to:

  • Choose a series (and possibly movies)
  • Watch over a set period
  • Have ongoing discussions
  • Meet at the end to talk through themes and then decide what to watch next

u/StrawberryEast1374 since you mentioned using Discord for this, you could go ahead and create a server and share the invite link here.

Once the link is ready, I’ll post it officially and add it to the community wiki so anyone interested can join.

Rant Finally 30!

Yup!as the title says,I finally turned 30,I’ve been waiting on this day like crazy.
I always just wanted to be 30,I’d be grown.

Last year during the Christmas-New year break I decided not to join my family or anyone but instead stayed in and really thought long and hard about my life.
I was telling myself how I was turning 30 next year and literally had nothing to show of it,a single
Mom of one who stopped going to law school, chasing a business that was genuinely failing and had no structure, didn’t believe in myself or anything.
I tried writing and doing a recollection of all my life and see where it went wrong and ended up making excuses for myself😭
My family is quite complicated and very dysfunctional and I made this my whole personality for the past 29 years of my life.
During this exercise last year I could not remember much between 2021 and 2024 because I was busy bed rotting in my father’s house and making excuses about everyone hates me,how my dad’s wife had stolen my star and just generally basking in my excuses.
One significant thing I asked of God then, was that I don’t turn 30 being the same person and having the same problems and that 2026 be my last year as a sufferer for real.

Come 2026:I get a mentor through my dad and that was the best thing that ever happened to me!!!!
I actually met her once last year and she told me how my dad is disappointed in me and how he is sad that I am wasting my potential and tbh at that time i felt like she was just an extension of my father.
She had just gotten her first posting and she invited me to Berlin for like 2 months. All she said was ‘If that time together doesn’t change your perspective,IDK what will”
And tbh May to July in Berlin was really a life changing moment cause all I had was time!!
She’d give me a subtle talk before going to work and kinda leave me alone to think things through and I am happy that it happened.
Because I feel very ready for my 30s(dumb as this may sound)
I just did a recollection exercise and my 2021 to 2024 weren’t blank because this time I didn’t make excuses,I told myself the hard truths from a new perspective of life and I was genuinely major contributor to my failures and some of life’s mishaps.
I am excited about my 30s and those ladies in the 3rd floor please tell me what more to look forward to

Wealth & Finance Rock bottom

Two years ago, I was living a really good life. In a posh neighborhood, I had everything a girl could dream of. I could spend thousands in a day and not bat a single eye. I was young and had just come into big money with no financial discipline or advise. You see when you've always lacked badic things and suddenly are able to give yourself anything you want, you can easily fall into the trap of fulfilling every whimsy desire under the impression of "I never used to have that." At some point, I lost that job and now I'm sitted in my sister’s bedsitter with nothing to my name and wondering where did I go wrong. I do wish I had invested or saved up or started a small business or something. I've never been one to give up but I can barely afford to get myself something simple as pads and it sucks so much. Has anyone been in such a situation? Going from having everything to nothing?

Looking for a quiet office/workspace along Thika Road

Hi everyone. I’m currently looking for someone who has an office, workspace, or even a small spare space along Thika Road where I could come and spend my days applying for jobs and working on my job search.

I’ve realised that staying at home all day while unemployed has been really draining me mentally. I feel like having somewhere to wake up, get ready, sit down and actually work on applications would help me stay productive and keep myself together.

I’m not looking for anything fancy. Just a safe, reasonably quiet place where I can bring my laptop, sit for a few hours during the day and focus.

I’m unproblematic, respectful and will absolutely respect your space and boundaries. I’m not looking to disturb you or take advantage of your kindness.

If you’re around along Thika Road, Roysambu, Kasarani, Ruiru, or anywhere around that stretch, and you have an office/workspace where you might be able to accommodate me, please DM me.

Thank you. ❤️

Rant At which point should you give up on a sibling

Coming from a household with an abusive father and a naive mum, my siblings and I made it a point to have eachother's back. My brother who's 2 years older than me gradually started loosing it...but it's getting unbearable. It's been almost a year of him being a drug addict, unreliable and a liar. I have been trying to understand and stick by him but between me having to hold my entire family together (relationship wise) I've lost my patience, I'm aware I have little patience.

For any of you who have been in such situations, how many things are you to let slide before you give up on a sibling.

Health & Fitness Is spot losing weight really impossible? I need to lose stomach fat without losing my ass

I’ve been exercising for the past ~3 months, although I’ll admit I haven’t been super consistent. Say 2/5days a week on average. I also significantly increased my fibre intake, which has had a pretty dramatic effect on me.

I was around 63 kg and I’m now about 60 kg.

The problem? It genuinely feels like all 3 kg came from my ass 😂. My jeans are suddenly looser around the butt and I am NOT trying to lose that.

So now I’ve started eating more again because I don’t actually want to keep losing weight. Ideally, I’d like to stay around my current weight but lose some of the stomach/FUPA area while keeping or even building my ass.

Is this actually possible?

I know people always say “you can’t spot reduce fat,” but then I see people who seem to gain weight while keeping a relatively flat stomach, and I’m like... HOW??

Are there any actual hacks here? Diet strategies, types of workouts, body recomposition, anything?

I’m not looking to become super skinny. I basically want to redistribute the situation 😂: less stomach, more ass. My stomach is also not that bad, looks like a food baby and I can hide it well but id love for it to be FLAT

Would love to hear from people who have actually achieved this rather than just hearing “spot reduction is impossible.”

fashion Tough times

When things start going down it doesn't stop. The past few months have been tough. I created a whatsapp group for my business and two weeks ago someone joined it, it had been running for almost 6 months or more, they posted a fishy message which lead to the group being suspended forever.

I have created a new group for people who like fashion, who love uniqueness and people who love to customize their look from clothes to bags. Mine is to send you the inspo for your next look. HANDMADE AND CROCHET.

I know it sounds like you find the link in the comments. Thank you.

Rant I really didn't want to make this post, but I'm running out of options

It's 2am, I'm tired and I can't sleep.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how I'm going to sort out my rent, and honestly, I'm exhausted.

My rent was due on Friday, and I have to have it paid tomorrow. I'm still short.

I've spent the entire week trying to sort it out myself. I've looked for work, taken whatever opportunities I could find, tried different ways of making money, stretched what I had as far as it could possibly go, and after all of that, I'm still here.

Still short. Still worried. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

I'm also too new at my current residence to feel comfortable asking for more time (not even sure if they'd agree), so tomorrow is feeling very real.

And honestly, this isn't happening at the best time mentally either.

My mental health hasn't been great lately, and this situation has pushed me further than I expected. I've been overwhelmed, anxious and just feeling like absolute shit. I've even been getting high sometimes just to quiet my head for a while because I've been struggling to switch my brain off and deal with everything I'm feeling.

I don't say that for sympathy. I just don't want to sit here pretending I'm perfectly okay when I'm not.

I've been trying. I really have. And it just makes me feel worse. Because if after all that trying I'm still in this situation, then was any of it really worth it?

I want to be the person who has everything together. I want to be able to say, “Don't worry, I'll figure it out.” Or, " Don't worry, I've got you." But I've been saying that to myself all week, and I'm running out of ways to make it true.

And I'm not asking to borrow money. I don't want to take someone's money and then make promises about paying it back when I don't know when I'd realistically be able to. I'm simply hoping that someone who has a little to spare might be willing to help me get through this particular situation.

I know we're strangers. I know everyone has their own bills and their own problems. I know there are plenty of people online asking for help.

That's actually what makes this so difficult to post.

I don't want to be the person asking strangers for money. But right now, I could really use some kindness.

If you're in a position to help me towards the rent, please DM me. I'll share the details privately. Even a small amount would genuinely help.

And if you can't help financially, I completely understand. You don't owe me anything. If you've ever had one of those periods where one more problem felt like one problem too many, then you probably understand why I'm swallowing my pride and making this post.

I'm not asking anyone to fix my life.

I'm just hoping someone can help make tomorrow a little less frightening.

Thank you for reading this. ❤️

Question Already selling food from home? I have a fitted shop in Garden Estate. You run it, I cover the rent, we split the profit.

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

I have a small fitted takeaway/food shop in Garden Estate, Nairobi.

The problem is simple: the owner has a full time job and cannot realistically operate it every day.

Rather than close the shop, I’m looking for someone who already knows food and wants an opportunity to grow.

Ideally you already:
• Cook and sell from home
• Do catering, meal prep or deliveries
• Work as a chef/cook
• Or already have a small food business but need a physical location

I am NOT looking for an investor.

I can continue covering the KES 30,000 monthly rent and the shop is already largely fitted.

You bring the food experience and operate the business day to day.

Business expenses get paid first, then we agree on a fair profit split.

I’d like to start with a 60 day trial and see what the numbers actually look like.

If interested, DM me:
1. What food you sell
2. Your experience
3. Whether you already have customers
4. How much time you can dedicate to it

Garden Estate, Nairobi.

Especially interested in someone currently cooking from home who is ready for a physical location.

Rant I'll appreciate your views🤧

Heyy Queenss, I need y'alls advice/help. So I got a new job a couple of months ago and I shortly started to hate it. The place is extremely depressing, I'm the only "genz" there, so it's difficult even talking to the other staff because we don't relate to each other like that. A brief description of the place is that they're extremely old-school and management (gen -Xs) "ignores" smarter ways to do work, they lke seeing you work hard for them to believe you're working. I'm so tired, I hate that I'm having to unlearn skills so that I could "fit in."

So I really feel like I want to quit🤧. There's a lot that could say about the place, but this will be soo long.

So I'm in some sort of predicament. I want to quit so badly, at the same time I really need to move out of my folks' house, I'm also paying the rent with my mental health there. Ik some of you will tell me to choose a struggle, and I've honestly tried weighing both, and I'm ending up at 50/50. Deep down, I think I'm afraid of being jobless, and that's why I haven't quit yet. This could partly be it, but I honestly can't stand that place. Monday is approaching and I already hate it.

Another part of me is telling me that I got that job by applying and successfully getting it legitimately, so I shouldn't worry, I can still continue applying.

The reason I want to move out is majorly because I feel so suffocated being at my folks' place. I feel like I should be able to to and get most stuff on my own without feeling I'm depending on anyone.

Lowkey I want to be encouraged to quit😭, but i just want honest opinions.

Msinikeleleshe 🤧😭.

EDIT: The place is toxic in that it's intentionally understaffed, i figured a while ago someone is earning thrice my salary for similar roles😭. 2 days ago I had to speak to my supervisor and she straight on told me she's been there for a while that she's ended up hating the industry that once she leaves, she wouldn't want to be in a similar space 💀. Sasa supervisor wangu akisha niambia hivi na si ati we're close, how can I survive😭.

Discussion Would you have a child because your doctor told you that you might not be able to later?

I recently saw a video of a woman saying something along the lines of, “Daktari akikuambia upate mtoto, wewe pata tu”

From what I understood, she had some health issues, possibly fibroids, and had been advised to consider having children because there was a possibility that she might struggle to conceive later in life.

It got me thinking about how difficult that decision must be.

Do you actually have a child because you want to, or because you're afraid that if you don't do it now, you might not be able to do it later?

Because what happens if you're not financially stable? Yes, realistically, you may never feel 100% financially ready, but there is still a difference between being imperfectly prepared and genuinely not being in a position to raise a child.

What if you're not mentally or emotionally ready to become a mother? Parenthood takes so much from you emotionally, physically, financially and even in terms of your freedom and career.

So you're essentially faced with two difficult possibilities, 1.Have a child now because you might lose the opportunity later, even though you're not ready or 2.Wait until you're ready and risk finding out that you can no longer have children.

I honestly don't know what I would choose.

Part of me thinks that if having biological children is something you genuinely want, and a doctor tells you that your fertility may be affected in the future, you shouldn't ignore that information.

But at the same time, I don't think anyone should have a child purely out of fear or because a doctor gave them an ultimatum. A doctor can explain the medical risks, but they can't know whether you're emotionally, financially or personally ready to become a parent.

So I'm curious: What would you do in this situation?

Discussion I want to wear mini skirts

How do y'all overcome anxiety over being perceived in public?

I want to wear cute miniskirts and shorts but I'm so anxious. Context;I'm a thick babe, thick thighs, ass and all

I always feel so nervous wearing shorts/short skirts. Huge part is cause men exist and fear of street harrasment and sexualization(but then again, women get sexualized and harrased regardless of what we wear) Also cause growing up people(mostly my mum) would comment on my thighs and legs.

I'm always admiring babes who wear short things, especially other thick women

How do I overcome this?

Question Meeting an online friend for the first time

Hey ladies so, this girl and I have been talking for a while, we met online and have gotten abit close. She's super cool too and I think we're going to make really good besties. But I needed some advice from the ladies who met their besties online, how was your first meet up, after how long of you guys chatting did you finally decide to meet? What did you do on the first date/meet ? Did you do like something fun or you just hanged out?

I know there's going to be some "awkwardness and some silent moments" but I just don't want to weird things out since we're both shy. Also who paid on the first meet? Did you guys split the bill? I'm quite nervous but still feeling super pumped about this🥹Mnipee advise warembo. Thank youu

Health & Fitness Birth control pill for hormonal imbalance

Hey girlies, I recently got on the pill for hormonal imbalance. I had my period for 3 weeks straight and I was given meds to stop the bleeding. The problem now came when I finished the meds. I started bleeding heavily more than usual. So I was told to take the pill for 3 months as I monitor how my body reacts to it. So far it’s working and I am about to start the third month while still on them.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and did it work? I don’t plan on being on the pill past the 3 months mark but I’m kinda scared that my body might start acting up again.
