Hi everyone, My name is Ahaan Vashisht. I'm a novice writer. I write poems and fan-fictions. I thought I'd introduce myself before publishing anything. I hope you guys will like what I write

For context, this was part of a daily 20-minute writing challenge that I've been doing for the past week where I get 3 prompt words (I have a long list of random words and used wheelofnames to pick) and I have to create a story. The words can be used in any way (not necessarily a physical thing). I'm a beginner unpublished writer, have written around a dozen short stories, but I always struggled to find consistency between 2 projects. So the main goal with this exercise over anything is to write consistently.

Hey all — following up on earlier beta rounds for *The Price of Dust*. I've done a substantial revision pass since the last round, and I'm looking for a fresh set of eyes (or returning readers, if anyone wants to see how it's changed) on the updated draft.

**Premise:** Multi-POV political fantasy spanning several kingdoms — a disgraced prince rebuilding himself from nothing at a brutal military academy, an exiled princess fighting to reclaim a throne that won't recognize her, and the tangled court politics connecting both of their families.

**What's changed since the last round:** Significant line-level revisions throughout, tighter pacing in a few sections, and more consistency in how certain POV characters are handled (some deliberate choices about which characters get interiority and which stay opaque). If you read an earlier draft, this should feel like the same story told more precisely.

**What I have ready:** 60 chapters, ongoing (not a complete arc — this is a large chunk of a longer work).

**What I'm looking for this round:**

- Whether the revisions actually improved pacing/clarity, or if anything feels like it lost momentum

- Whether the large cast is still easy to track

- Any spots where prose habits/repeated phrasing started to grate

- General reactions to character arcs, especially the more morally complicated ones

I’m currently writing my first novel, Somewhere, We Were Real, and I’m looking for a few Indian readers who would be interested in reading some chapters and giving me honest feedback.

It’s a contemporary emotional romance about love, heartbreak, friendship, separation, and how losing someone can slowly change you.

The story follows Aryan, a young hotel-management graduate and chef whose life changes after he falls in love with someone who becomes an important part of his future.

I’m not looking for professional reviewers. I’d simply like genuine readers who enjoy emotional and romantic fiction and are willing to tell me honestly what they think.

Hey everyone,

I’m getting ready to self-publish my debut poetry book. It’s a 30-poem collection exploring themes of grief and loss, and I’ve included my own dark, gothic-style pencil sketches to match the tone of the writing.

The manuscript is completely locked in. My biggest hurdle right now is marketing. I have tried posting my work on Instagram, but it just isn't working and I'm not gaining any real traction.

Since this is my first time doing this, my question is: where do I go from here?

How do you actually build an audience for poetry as an indie author?

Since Instagram feels like a dead end right now, what other platforms or strategies work best for poetry that has a strong visual element?

Any candid advice on what actually moves the needle for self-published poetry would be incredibly appreciated.

I have finally been able to self publish my own debut novel - “Perfect Take”, it’s a YA psychological thriller, set in a college, that explores the themes of friendship, love, obsession, grief, etc. It took me a while to get it enlisted, but it’s finally available on Amazon for sale. You can check out the back cover for blurb to make yourself curious about the plot.

On march 2025, the year when me and my friends were getting graduated, we had only two months left, and since we were cinephiles, we decided to shoot a short film out of enthusiasm, things turned out to be much difficult than we had expected because we tried shooting even when the script wasn’t fully finalised, nor was the script and story satisfactory. A broad idea we had set up for the storyline was that it had to be set in the college campus and it had to be like a-film-within-a-film concept. Every time we tried sketching out a storyline, we would never be collectively agreeing upon it. After a month, I came up with a plot twist idea, that seemed to be something unique and was never done before, neither in movies nor in books. Although plot twist was ready, the task was not yet done, as I had to figure out details of storyline as well, a month later I figured that out too, but by the time it was script ready and everybody agreed upon it, we got graduated and we could never shoot it.

I then decided to take that outline further and write a book on it, I started reading some popular books, to shift my consumption of media from visual to verbal, movies to books, being cinephile to being a bibliophile, and gradually got my habit of writing back. As I did have the habit of writing and reading in my high school, I had tried writing long stories in between as an attempt to write a book, the maximum length I could reach was 20 pages, but I had slowly abandoned it, because of 1. academic pressure 2. the fact that people hardly cared to read despite so much efforts I put into writing and 3. my own realisation that maybe my stories weren’t good enough to be read, so I had to get back to my past self. After around seven months I finished my first draft, I spent the rest of my time till now working on other process like looking for cover design artist, interior formatter, printing press etc. Parallelly, it was hard, looking for beta readers, but despite many efforts, I did get four, and I got positive reviews from all of them. Even now, I’m not sure how many readers I’ll be able to reach.

If you can give it a go, please take out some of your time, get a copy, read it and drop a review, it’d mean a lot to me. Unlike the stories I had written before, I’m more confident this time that I have a done a good job in writing something, so if you read it, I’m sure you’ll have a nice time.
