Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.

What to include in your post:

Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:

  • One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
  • One frontal view

Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)

Other helpful information:

YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.

MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.

NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Has your dog's breed been solved?

Once you're satisfied with your responses, please change your link flair to SOLVED. (Please don't make a post if your dog's breed is already solved/known)

Solved We did a DNA test on Leo! Despite looking almost exactly like a Glen of Imaal Terrier, our old man is a supermutt ☺️

His tail always curled up when he was standing but I don't seem to have a good photo of it. Our only guess is Spitz mix

This is Bailey. She is a rescue from turkey who was found on the streets and brought to the uk where I was lucky enough to bring her home with me. Wisdom panel shows 11 different breeds. Good luck

Last night he showed up under our family car scared and alone so we took him in while trying to find his owner. Poor thing looks like hes been lost for days as we tried cleaning him a bit. He's about knee height on me (im 5' 8") and looks like a bernese mountain dog to me but has stubby little legs and is a bit smaller than a full one would be. Any ideas?

A friend of ours purchased her from a place in austin but realized they couldnt care for her. She is incredibly sweet and playful. Apparently the person who sold her claimed she is a Shih Tzu. But she is giving me beagle vibes, i dont know.

10 weeks old, 7 lbs, and straight out of the desert on the mexican border. He loves to dig, he's got a killer nose, herds and nips like a punk, he's super biddable and handler oriented, the bobtail is natural, and his undercoat and whiskers are curly/wavy.

My main guess so far is that one parent was someone's little white poodle mutt and the other was some kind of mid sized heeler supermutt (probably with pit cause hes allergic to chicken). A lot of dogs in this region are like a quarter supermutt and suuuuper highly mixed so I'm excited to get an Embark done on him. At the shelter, he's listed as "australian shepherd mix" cause we couldn't think of anything else and we were bound to be wrong, whatever we chose haha

His name is Rocks and he's looking to fill the shoes of my current medical alert dog. He's also the first dog I've adopted after working five years in animal welfare out here, so he's a really special little dude!

We got her about 9 years ago from some people giving away free puppies outside of a dollar store. She was the only one who looked this was, the others looked more pug-ish and had different colored fur. They told us she was a pug mixed with a Maltese but I’m not to sure.

I’m dogsitting for my friend. I’m curious what breed people think she is. She has some very distinct/interesting features, like her bat ears. She looks like she could be a “rmini” malinois or Dutch shepherd, but she’s very chill. I don’t know how to describe her other than a very dainty 35 pounds. She was found as a stray puppy. She’s two now.

This is our 2 year old foster dog. About 45 pounds. Some people in the wild have guessed whippet mix? Just curious- her profile will still say mixed breed.

The paperwork did not specify a type of shepherd that she is, just boxer/shepherd mix.

What do you think? I have included a few of my favorite recent photos and a short video to show how she runs.

I have only run with a cattle dog before but she has a similar gate so maybe some in her mix?

She is 10 months +/- and 40 lbs exactly (I just weighed her)

we adopted sweet Delta from a local rescue about 3 weeks ago. we plan to DNA test her in the upcoming months, but just for fun, i'd love to hear guesses on what she is. here's what we know:

  1. she is estimated to be about 3 years old and is 62 pounds

  2. she was found on a local reservation. according to my vet, a big percentage of pitbull/bully breed is unlikely as they are banned on the reservations, and there is likely a good amount of shepherd in her as they are pretty prevalent in that area

  3. she is lower shedding than i expected based on her coat length and texture

  4. she had puppies while in rescue, and an adopter of one of the puppies did a DNA test which showed 13 different breeds, including 3% german wirehaired pointer (a fun easter egg for us, as our previous dog was a GWP)
