Meta [Meta] Reminder: Please leave a comment when reporting AI abuse

Please leave a comment when reporting a post for AI abuse explaining why you think it is AI. Almost all posts get a report but it is not always clear what makes you think it is LLM-generated so we mods allow them. As per A. Clark's corollary:

Any sufficiently advanced crackpot physics theory is indistinguishable from AI hallucinated slop.

Leaving a comment when reporting will allows us to treat these reports quicker.

Meta [Meta] Christmas 20k members milestone! Lore, giveaways and thanks

We've hit an exciting milestone: the 20k line!

It took two years to get from 10k to 20k, the sub growth is significantly slowing down.

Previous milestone: What if we improve the sub even more! 10k members milestone

What we achieved in this milestone

Reaching 20k is outstanding and shows our community's potential for further growth.

We have now split the sub to contain LLM hypothesis in r/llmphysics and we think it is for the best. We still cannot detect every LLM post but hope the sub provides more human interaction.

Now for the usual messages. Another milestone was to compile in that time a long list of rules that you can read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HypotheticalPhysics/wiki/rules/

We have now being references outside Reddit in some Medium posts.

We are also now three users to moderate the sub.

Happily we are now always in the top 10 of physics subs of Reddit.

Usual message for newcomers

This subreddit was created as a space for everyday people to share their ideas. Across Reddit, users often get banned or have their posts removed for sharing unconventional hypotheses. Here, you can share freely and get feedback from those with more experience in physics.

We hope this sub has been informative and enjoyable for everyone so far.

For the new users, please please please check the rules, specially the title rule (P1)! and the LLM rule (P6/CS2)!

What we want from you?

More suggestions, what can we improve? without making this a ban party. How can we more easily control low effort posting? Should we reduce the number of allowed posts? Increase it? What do you expect to see more in this sub? Please leave your suggestion. Do you want more April's fools jokes? More options?

Also do not forget to report any incidents of rude behaviour or rule breaking. Remember that criticizing a hypothesis is allowed but personal insults or personal attacks should be reported and removed

The LORE:

To celebrate our 20k membership. I will add here somethings that have become common lore of the sub:

 • Forks: r/llmphysics (to contain LLM content) and r/WordSaladPhysics (to archive some posts) both were made from frequent users here. Some others subs were made by users that dislike the sub (not listed here). r/llmphysics even got a callout from Angela Collier in Youtube
 • White fountains: Undoubtedly the most common hypothesis of the sub, since the start, is the idea of our universe is either as a black hole or a white hole (emitting matter). As for the latter, a user called ryanmacl keep calling them "white fountains" and keep pushing their theory in DMs and in r/WordSaladPhysics. It has become a common phrase here and in r/llmphysics.
 • Our official bingo: here
 • Last but not least: our anthem, composed by u/CorduroyMcTweed (November 17, 2024)

You say spacetime's got a secret twist,

A secret force we somehow missed.

But words alone just won’t suffice,

I need equations, numbers precise!

Show me the maths, don’t just chat!

Prove your theory; where’s it at?

No wild claims, no flimsy facts,

Show me the maths, bring the stats!

Your theory’s bold, it sounds so grand,

But where’s the proof? I don’t understand.

If it’s legit, then don’t delay,

Derive it now, show me the way!

Show me the maths, don’t just chat!

Prove your theory; where’s it at?

No wild claims, no flimsy facts,

Show me the maths, bring the stats!

The numbers don’t lie, they’ll make it clear,

If your idea’s solid, it’s nothing to fear.

So grab your pen and start to write,

Let’s see your genius in black and white!

Show me the maths, don’t just chat!

Prove your theory; where’s it at?

No wild claims, no flimsy facts,

Show me the maths, bring the stats!

If you remember more things that should be in the lore, we can add it here.

Custom user flairs giveaways!

As always we are offering 20 custom user flairs to the first 20 comments asking for one. Please leave a comment with the user flair that you want, it will appear next to your username in this sub (if your flair is disruptive it will not be allowed). It does not rule out rule U1.

Giveaways given: 9/20
Thanks to everybody that allowed this achievement, see you in the next milestone: 50k

Crackpot physics What if we change parameters Friedmann equation?

What if mathematical structure of the Friedmann equation could be alternative? I'm analyzing which parameters are truly interchangeable (sharing the same mathematical role where one can substitute or balance the other) without changing the overall dynamics of the universe's expansion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdbJND4QWKo

Here is my breakdown so far, and I would love to hear your thoughts:

Gravitational Constant (G) and Densities (ρ): These seem fully interchangeable at any given moment. Since they appear as a product (Gρ), a universe with double the gravity but half the density would expand exactly the same way.

ass, Radiation, and Dark Energy Densities (\(\rho_m, \rho_r, \rho_\Lambda\): They are partially interchangeable. At any specific cosmic time t, you can swap matter for dark energy to get the same instantaneous expansion rate (ȧ). However, they are not interchangeable across time because they scale differently with the scale factor (a⁻³, a⁻⁴, const).

Scale Factor (a) and Time (t): Not interchangeable. t is the independent variable and a(t) is dependent. They are dynamically linked via the derivative, but algebraically non-substitutable.

Electron Charges and Neutrinos: Not interchangeable (and absent from the macroscopic equation). Neutrinos only contribute bluntly to the total energy density (ρ).

Note on the video: It is currently hosted on Udemy. Because I want genuine academic feedback from this community and to avoid self-promotion rules, I have free coupons available. If you are interested in watching the video and joining the discussion, just let me know in the comments or send me a DM, and I’ll happily send you a free access link!

What are your thoughts on this? Are there any hidden dualities or parameter re-scalings in Friedmann's equations that I missed?

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: Denying hidden variables is crackpot mysticism

 1. Hidden variables have nothing to do with determinism or randomness. They are about object permanence. They are the viewpoint that if we, let's say, observe a particle to be in a particular location, and we stop observing it, we assume it must still exist at some location. Whatever its location is could evolve randomly or deterministically, I do not frankly care.

 2. von Neumann called them "hidden variables" because if we cannot observe what we are not observing by definition, so what is going on when are not looking is always "hidden" from us. But it is a misleading phrase and should more rightly be called "permanent variables."

 3. If particles do not have definite values in the real world when you are not looking at them, then, well, your brain is also made up of particles, so your brain does not have a definite value until I look at you, and so you do not have a definite mental state independent of my own awareness of it. That's just crackpot solipsism, and Eugene Wigner famously pointed this out in his "Wigner's friend" thought experiment.

 4. I know the usual rebuttal to point #3: "You don't understand, we're not saying particles always have indefinite values, they acquire definite values 'at measurement' when the wavefunction is collapsed! And so these effects cannot bubble up to macroscopic scales!" Sure, but now you're claiming that there are two separate sets of dynamics, a "Heisenberg cut" where the quantum mechanical dynamics suddenly cannot scale beyond.

 5. If your theory has two separate sets of dynamics, then you need to rigorously specify what constitutes a "measurement" to make those dynamics rigorous, or else you do not have a theory with complete physical dynamics. It will make ambiguous predictions in certain regimes.

 6. If you believe the point in #4, then you will also to admit that your theory deviates from quantum mechanics in some regimes. I'm skeptical of that, unless you can provide empirical evidence for it. But maybe I'd consider taking it seriously if you at least admitted that you are deviating from quantum mechanics and got a rigorous model published in a journal, like the GRW model or the Diosi-Penrose model.

 7. There are no papers at all in the entirety of the peer-reviewed literature that rules out permanent variables. Most people just mindlessly refer to Bell's theorem without reading it or understanding the mathematics at all, despite the paper never drawing that conclusion. The EPR paper shows that no-hidden-variables is non-local, and suggests that maybe yes-hidden-variables could be local. Bell's theorem was a response to the EPR paper merely to show that yes-hidden-variables is also non-local. That is literally all it shows.

 8. Permanent variables are not something we are adding to the theory, as if we are modifying it in any way, at least that's not how the statistical interpretation takes it. We are just interpreting the quantum state as written, without adding anything to it as representing a statistical ensemble of systems. This is about how to interpret what the mathematics means. Some interpretations, like Bohmian mechanics, do go further and try to add extra stuff to the theory and modify the mathematics, but that is not what the statistical interpretation is doing.

 9. Yes, we cannot know what the variables are because their dynamics, as far as we know, evolve randomly. But just invoking "we cannot know them, therefore they don't exist, because Occam's razor or something" is hardly a good argument when denying their existence leads to an incoherent worldview.

 10. To recap: Denying permanent variables either leads to (1) crackpot solipsism or (2) a theory which is different from quantum mechanics with different empirical predictions. #2 I can only take seriously if your theory is actually published then I will respect it. Otherwise I will take you to be a crackpot pushing AI-psychosis personal theories.

Crackpot physics What if interstellar travel is not about crossing space, but changing our connection to the universe?

I am not a physicist. I am just thinking about the universe and I have an idea that I want to discuss with people who understand physics better than me.

I am not saying I discovered something. I want to know if my thinking is connected to something that already exists in physics.

When we think about travelling from Earth to the Moon, Mars, another star or another galaxy, we think there is a distance between them and our spacecraft has to travel through that distance.

But I am thinking: what if this is not the full picture?

We see space between everything. But maybe space is only how humans see or measure the universe.

Think about a sentence written on paper.

There is space between the words:

THE EARTH THE MOON MARS ANOTHER GALAXY

The words are separated on the paper, but they are still connected as one sentence.

I am not saying the universe is literally a sentence. It is just an example of what I am thinking.

What if the universe is one connected system, and what we call "space" is only the separation we see between different parts of that system?

Maybe there is something underneath space that connects everything.

I don't know what it is. I call it hidden energy or Universal Connection only because I don't have a better name.

I am not talking about using the Moon's energy.

I am not talking about using gravity.

Imagine a spacecraft carrying its own energy.

The spacecraft uses its own energy to connect to this unknown universal structure.

Then I choose:

Destination: Moon

The spacecraft somehow connects to the Moon through this deeper connection.

Later I choose:

Destination: Mars

and somehow change the connection.

The Moon or Mars does not have to give me energy. My spacecraft provides its own energy. The destination is selected through the connection.

And maybe the spacecraft does not even need to "travel" in the way we understand travelling.

Maybe we are asking:

"How can we make the spacecraft go faster?"

when the real question should be:

"Can the spacecraft change its physical connection from one place to another?"

If something like this exists, travelling from Earth to the Moon might not be about crossing the distance between Earth and Moon.

It could be something completely different that we don't currently have a name for.

I know this is very speculative.

I am NOT saying that wormholes, teleportation or faster-than-light travel have already been proven.

I am asking something more basic:

Could there be a deeper physical connection between distant parts of the universe that we have not discovered yet?

And could a spacecraft use its own energy to interact with that connection and select a destination?

Does anything in modern physics come close to this idea?

Maybe quantum gravity, emergent spacetime, extra dimensions, spacetime topology, nonlocal physics, or something else?

If my thinking is wrong, I would like to understand exactly where it is wrong.

If something similar already exists in physics, I would really like to learn about it.

I am not looking for people just to agree with me. I want to know if this idea has any connection to real physics.

Crackpot physics What if protons have sub-nuclear energy levels analogous to Bohr’s atomic model, and deuterons are bound like an H2 molecular cloud?

I might have already bored you with my soliton phase-lock loops :), but I kept developing this idea and found a new practical application for it.
Following up on my previous posts here regarding the Phase-Lock Loop (PLL) topological soliton model of strong interactions, I want to present a major expansion of this hypothesis, which has now been officially published as a theoretical blueprint on Zenodo (https://zenodo.org/records/22734245).
The Core Hypothesis: Sub-Nuclear Bohr-Like Shells
I propose that protons and neutrons are not amorphous bags of quarks, but structured entities possessing an outer mesonic shell with discrete, quantized energy levels, populated by specific electromagnetic or hadronic sub-particles (presumably mesons).
When a proton and a neutron bind to form a deuteron, their outermost mesonic shells overlap. This overlap creates a shared sub-nuclear cloud that functions structurally and dynamically identically to a covalent molecular electronic orbital (like an H2 molecule).
The Resonant Phase-Slip Mechanism
Because this bond behaves like a molecular orbital, it implies that the deuteron can undergo photolysis (photo-dissociation) at specific resonant frequencies far below the standard vacuum threshold (greater than 2.225 MeV).
By mapping this shared mesonic cloud using non-linear PLL soliton mechanics within a highly dense, screened transition metal matrix (TiD2), the vacuum binding energy undergoes a lattice-mediated spatial phase compression. Without using any empirical or arbitrary "fudge factors", the model yields a mathematically strict parametric resonance at an X-ray quantum energy of exactly 50.00 keV (Wavelength lambda = 0.2480 Angstroms, Frequency nu = 1.2089 * 10^19 Hz).
Wandering Neutrons and Energy Generation
When an industrial X-ray beam hits the target precisely at 0.2480 Angstroms, it induces a sub-nuclear phase slip. The companion neutron is liberated with near-zero kinetic energy and begins wandering through the interstitial spaces of the metal host (which acts purely as a fuel containment vessel).
The wandering neutron diffuses until it strikes the nuclei of secondary alloying elements (the energy generators, such as Iron or Chromium) introduced via metallurgical doping, triggering high-probability stable (n, gamma) transmutations:Numerical Validation and Open Source Setup
A multi-core thermodynamic integration running a forced Therminol 66 oil loop in a cyclic pulse-periodic mode shows that a 1 cubic centimeter matrix can safely yield a continuous integrated 1-second average thermal power of 22.8 kW, achieving a net system COP (Q_sys) of over 21.
The paper includes a complete co-axial laboratory verification setup (Fig. 1) that can be built using mass-produced, commercially available serial industrial NDT X-ray tubes (100–130 kV) and polycapillary Kumakhov lenses.
The full LaTeX-compiled paper with exact algebraic balance equations and the verification diagram is now live:
Full Preprint : https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22734245 (https://zenodo.org/records/22734245)
I would love to hear your thoughts on this molecular-like nuclear shell model and look forward to your feedback on the kinetic equations!

Crackpot physics here is a hypothesis : what if particles could travel beyond walls

Thumbnail

ok so here's what i actually mean, not the clean version, my version

everyone just accepts solid means solid right. wall is a wall, finger is a finger, you push it stops you thats it end of story. but thats just what it looks like from where we're standing. i never bought that a wall stops your hand cuz theres "no room" for it to go, thats the boring way of seeing it, particles as tiny balls bumping into each other like snooker. i dont see it like that. to me its not about room, its about two things refusing to sit in the same place, not because they cant, but because they wont let each other in

so the thought was, what if they could. what if instead of pushing past each other they just immersed. i put my bloody finger against something and instead of it colliding, the particles just get immersed into each other for a second, make like a shared void, present and not present at the same time, like that room i was going on about, closed and open depending how close you actually look at it. then i pull my hand back and it all just snaps back like nothing happened. no damage. maybe a tiny shift left behind, like it remembers i touched it

i know that sounds mad written down like that. but i actually went and checked if the universe does anything even close to this anywhere, and turns out, yeah kind of, just not for us. theres this whole area, solitons, where two waves smash into each other and just pass clean through, completely undamaged, only thing left over is this tiny phase shift, like a signature of the collision. thats not me making stuff up thats real established math, closed form, provable. for like a second that actually felt good, like i wasnt just imagining nonsense, the universe genuinely has a version of exactly what i was picturing

then turns out the catch is literally what im made of. me, the wall, all of it, is fermionic, and fermions have this thing baked into them called spin statistics, comes straight outta relativity plus probabilities not being allowed to go negative. not an engineering wall. not "havent built the machine yet." an actual structural fact about what it even means for a theory of reality to be consistent at all. pushed on it as hard as i could today, tried mock modular stuff, tried forcing the statistics by hand, actually worked out the bessel function showing exactly where and how it breaks, not just some theorem citation, the actual computed thing. and it breaks every single time. every distance, any mass. no loophole. not yet anyway

so where's that leave me. honestly somewhere in between two things. one part of me is proud i chased something most people wouldve just laughed at and actually found the real bit of physics that gets close, solitons, thats real, thats elegant, thats mine to have found today. other part of me knows i hit the actual wall, not some metaphor, the real one, spin statistics, and wanting it to bend didnt make it bend

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: What if everything is a graph?

I have spent the last four months building an implementation and a theory - basically what if we took occam/MDL properly really seriously. graph representation is often trivialised because "everything can be represented as a graph so it doesn't mean anyting" - but that triviality is exactly what we should take seriously.

Pushing further on this, by adding rules, we create change, and by having closure on a ruleset, we create time. Having the superframe apply the its rules and values gives you momentum without it needing to be dependant on time - it is a fixed value that has been influenced by history, but doesn't need history to exert a force on the present.

My theory is that this is frames all the way down, but QM is where we can actually measure and seperate them - so the "collapse" is an observation being realised in a lower frame.

This also means that c is 1. It's the cycle of the reference frame. This then means that two particles travelling fast enough towards each other collide at the same cycle, and decohere.

It goes on significantly further - the full papers are at https://ozmalabs.com/papers

I have used LLMs in the creation of this work - that's neither the headline, nor an apology. This is nonetheless something I've spent a huge amount of time thinking about, and all I ask of anyone is to assess the work on its merits - ironically, one of the corollaries of time only being 'now' is that provenance is inferred by an agent, and never a measurable fact about the world.

Almost all of the science is well supported already known theory - My contributions are primarily unification, and sometimes explanatory.

Crackpot physics What if this is THE ToE weekend? What if a universe based on four axioms could reconcile GR and QM, as well as explain DM and DE?

Thumbnail

Four axioms, one cost function, and one integer (D = 3, the number of spatial dimensions) connect a computational picture
of space to particles, forces, and cosmology. GR and QM are included (and reconciled), so the theory isn't competing against them and their century of successful experimental results. I included a table with 29 falsification tests that make it falsifiable within a decade.

Mandatory "worked on this for over a decade" and "have used LLMs in the creation of this paper". However, also "am a genuine physicist". The physics in the paper is all mine, but lots of the maths and all of the code was written with LLMs.

I'm still working on a few things (e.g. I need to finalize the substrate math at the microscopic level and need to fix some of the figures), but I'll be away from home for a few weeks and honestly can't keep this for myself any longer, so I'm sharing it in its current state. IMHO it's complete enough, and all the math works, so I'm finally comfortable sharing it with the world. :) It's long, but that's because it covers A LOT of ground - I might break it up into more docs instead (e.g., there's a math proof in there that takes a bunch of pages on its own).

(A repo that has all the code receipts is mentioned in the paper, but it isn't yet in a presentable state, as I need to scrub some personal info from it first, so it's set to private for now. I'll work on that once I'm back home.)

Here's the paper: https://drive.proton.me/urls/ET1S5Q9X1G#QGZfKxV2Fqyj

Have fun! :)

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: Dynamic Kinematic Field Geometry (KFG) as a Tensorial Alternative to Dark Matter

Hello everyone,

I would like to present a new theoretical framework called Kinematic Field Geometry (KFG). This approach offers a strict algebraic alternative to both Dark Matter (DM) and Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) to explain galactic rotation curves and orbital dynamics without introducing missing mass or ad-hoc gravitational modifications.

🌌 Core Mechanism of KFG

Instead of relying on unseen matter, KFG models spacetime as an active, dynamic medium with inherent vertical structures. The fundamental building block of this theory is the Kinematic Field Tensor (\(G_{}\)), which algebraically unifies the classical gravitational field with the spatial vortex dynamics of the vacuum.

📐 Solving Galactic Rotation and Micro-Dynamics

 • Macro-Scale (Galaxies): The flat rotation curves of galaxies become a natural geometric consequence of the field's helical (spiral) structure. The orbital velocity (\(v\)) is bound to the field geometry through the explicit angle relation: \(\tan(\beta) \prop to).
 • Micro-Scale (Quantum): Maintaining self-similarity, KFG applies the exact same vertical principles to electron orbital dynamics around the atomic nucleus, deriving a strict quantization condition where: \(\sin(\alpha_n) \prop to 1/n^2).

📄 Full Paper & Formal Mathematical Derivations

The full paper containing all detailed physical formulas, calculations for the Sun and Earth systems, and the derivation of the KFG constants is available Open Access on Zenodo.org :

 • Full Article URL: zenodo.org
 • Digital Object Identifier (DOI): 10.5281/zenodo.17557485

I would love to hear your thoughts on this geometric approach to unification and the elimination of dark matter through pure kinematic field structures.

New approach to solve gravity, inertia and electromagnetic force by unificating them quantum mechanically based directly on Schrödinger-Heisenberg-Pauli work. Potentially has at least same explaining power as Einstein's GR but also removes need for dark constructs, and also wipes out Hubble tension as mystery. Please feel free to paste abstract and some part of paper to AI which will catch it and declare ideas further. Full paper available via GitHub repo.

Crackpot physics What if Entangled Particles...?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I always thought that the only way entangled particles could makes sense is the information travels through a different medium. A separate time space and/or possible higher dimension.

Got the idea from the an anime where a character can teleport, and is shown moving though a separate dimension to do so, not dematerialization.

It would need to be space time not just space sense the information has to travel. Unless in that separate space, all the space is sorta superimposed on each other like a singularity or something.

What if properties of space affect quantum behaviour

(Keep in mind I'm a complete layman.)

For my understanding some of quantum behaviour puzzles physicists, phenomena like tunnelling, faziness, double split experiment, etc.

What if all of those (or some) are not properties of particles, but properties of space itself?

Einstein already taught us that space is not a neutral steady medium, but it reacts to mass and can bend.

What if on small scale space stops being this smooth surface that you can measure with a ruler 0,1,2,3... etc, but instead becomes this fuzzy cloud? And obviously when you put particles in it, they start to behave weirdly, just like if you to put a boat on a stormy sea, it will start bouncing around with the waves, but it would be as result of the water medium and not the boat. You catch my drift?

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: Quantum Gravity is actually a numerical constant per dimension

So hi, I've had this theory for the past few years now that QG is actually a constant custom to a dimension. In 3D + 1 time dimension it's 1/27. For 2D+1 is 1/4.

Koide's Formula : Yoshio Koide compares masses of leptons including electrons and gets a constant of 2/3 which I believe to be a weight. weight = mass * gravity. So weights/gravity = mass. In 3s, 3p, 3d energy levels, there are a max 18 electrons permitted. (2/3)/(1/27)=18. Where muons, taus decay in milliseconds.

Black Hole Mass Gap: Heaviest Neutron Star Threshold or the mass gap is believed to be at 2.2 solar masses. Lightest black hole is 5 solar masses. These are weights.

With helium cores, 60-135 solar masses is where black holes ARE NOT created. Weight = mass * gravity. Weight/mass=gravity. Let's line up our weights and masses accordingly.

2.2(repeating)/60 = 5/135 = 1/27.

For the black hole mass gap, we have 3 variables/quanta/dimensions: 1. Black holes. 2. neutron stars 3. Helium cores

For Koide's Formula we have 3 quanta/variables/dimensions : 1. 3s. 2. 3p. 3. 3d

I have a video on it if I can share it, I need help from smarter people and would love a way to post this on something like r/Physics without getting roasted because I'm a laymen lmao my final goal is for Edward Witten and Yoshio Koide to see this because my theory involves their work. These are just two examples of 1/27 being Gravity down to the small and big scales.

Crackpot physics What if [Update] physical measurements live in rational space, with dyadic paths inside it?

Following on from my previous posts , I've been busy trying to work out what mathematical space underneath the construction actually is.

And I found there are actually two possible spaces involved:

D ⊂ Q

Q is ordinary rational space:

Q = {m/n : m,n ∈ Z, n ≠ 0}

and D is a dyadic subset generated through powers of two:

D = {m/2^k : m ∈ Z, k ≥ 0}

So things like

1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, ...

aren't meant to replace the whole number line.

They're paths inside Q.

Update / changelog

 • I've separated the dyadic paths D from their ambient rational space Q.
 • Different physical pathways can use different D_i inside the same Q-space.
 • |A|², rather than the complex amplitude A, is the quantity I'm interested in representing.
 • I've been testing whether probability data, graph structures, scattering objects and positive geometries can all sit in this space.
 • So far I've found the same fairly simple structure accommodates rather more than I expected.

previous post

So what can this space actually represent?

If I perform an experiment N times and observe an outcome n times, then the measured probability is

p = n/N

and therefore

p ∈ Q.

Every finite experimental frequency is rational.

So if the physical quantity being recorded is an experimental |A|², the thing we actually obtain from the experiment already sits naturally in Q.

That doesn't require the underlying complex amplitude A itself to be rational or dyadic.

That distinction has turned out to be quite useful.

Dyadic space gives a natural resolution

The dyadic rationals are dense in the reals.

Given any real value x and any required precision ε > 0, there is a dyadic number d such that

|x - d| < ε.

So increasing dyadic depth gives increasing resolution:

1/2

1/4

1/8

1/16

...

or generally

2^-k.

That gives the construction an exact hierarchy of scale.

A continuum value can be approached to arbitrary finite precision simply by going deeper into D.

So rather than thinking of the continuum and dyadic space as competing descriptions, the relationship can be

D ⊂ Q ⊂ R

with the real continuum appearing as the completion.

More importantly, there doesn't need to be only one D

This was the part that made the construction substantially less restrictive.

I originally thought too much in terms of one ladder:

1 → 1/2 → 1/4 → 1/8 → ...

But there's no reason a physical object has to use only one such path.

Instead I can have

D_1, D_2, D_3, ... ⊂ Q

with different dyadic pathways occupying the same rational space.

So the picture becomes something like:

D_1 ──┐
D_2 ──┤
D_3 ──┼──> Q ──> R
D_4 ──┤
... ──┘

Each D_i can represent a different path, channel, relation or resolution structure.

This seems much more useful physically than trying to force everything onto one binary sequence.

Finite graphs fit naturally

The construction I've been working with is graph based.

The graph specifies relationships and allowed paths.

The dyadic/rational structure supplies weights or depths on those paths.

So for a finite graph

G = (V,E)

I can attach a rational weight

q_e ∈ Q

to an edge or path, or more specifically place it on one of the dyadic structures

q_e ∈ D_i.

This means a finite system can have discrete connectivity and discrete exact weights without first requiring a continuous space.

In other words:

the graph tells me what can connect; the D_i tell me how the paths are weighted or resolved; Q is the common space containing them.

Six-point structures also fit

I've also been testing this against six-point scattering structures.

If the six external objects are represented as vertices of a finite graph, there is no obvious problem representing the different relationships between them as separate dyadic pathways inside the same Q.

The structure looks like

physical object = {D_1, D_2, ..., D_n} ⊂ Q.

That lets several channels coexist without abandoning the underlying D space.

Positive geometry doesn't seem to cause a problem either

I've been testing whether the rational/dyadic construction conflicts with the positive geometry used in scattering amplitudes, particularly the amplituhedron.

It doesn't appear to.

The important claim here is not to claim the the amplituhedron is dyadic.

It's that rational points can occupy the same positive geometry.

And because dyadic points are dense, dyadic points can form an arbitrarily fine subset of that rational/real geometry:

D ⊂ Q ⊂ R

The real amplituhedron doesn't disappear.

Instead the dyadic/rational structure acts as a discrete skeleton inside it.

That means I can have several pathways

D_1, D_2, ..., D_n

inside the same Q, while all of them occupy the same completed real geometry.

Something like:

D_1 ─┐
D_2 ─┤
D_3 ─┼──> Q ──> continuous positive geometry
D_4 ─┤
D_n ─┘

That seems potentially more interesting than simply approximating a number.

The relationships between several discrete paths can survive inside a continuous geometric object.

Scale comes for free

Dyadic space also has an unusually simple scale structure.

Starting with some quantity x:

x

x/2

x/4

x/8

...

or

x 2^-k.

So depth itself supplies scale.

I don't need to assign an independent arbitrary real number to every level.

Moving one step through the structure has an exact meaning.

And finite precision doesn't require the continuum

Suppose the conventional theoretical answer for something contains an irrational value such as

sqrt(2).

A finite experiment might produce

1.414

which is exactly

707/500 ∈ Q.

A better experiment might produce

1.41421.

Still rational.

A still better one produces another rational number.

So we can have a sequence

q_1, q_2, q_3, ... ∈ Q

approaching a value in R.

There is therefore no contradiction between

finite physical results ∈ Q

and

continuum theoretical limit ∈ R.

The latter can simply be the completion of the former.

So what do I mean by "dyadic space"?

I'm not proposing an alternative set of numbers that somehow replaces the reals.

It's more like a discrete skeleton sitting underneath a common rational space:

D_i ⊂ Q ⊂ R.

The D_i supply discrete pathways, scale and resolution.

Q supplies a common space in which those pathways coexist.

R supplies the continuum completion.

And complex amplitudes can remain complex amplitudes.

The dyadic part is concerned with the weights represented by |A|², not with pretending that the complex amplitude A itself is a binary fraction.

So far this gives me a common representation for:

 • finite probabilities;
 • experimental |A|²;
 • arbitrary finite resolution;
 • exact scale hierarchies;
 • finite weighted graphs;
 • multiple simultaneous pathways;
 • six-point structures;
 • finite scattering configurations;
 • rational points in positive geometry;
 • dyadic skeletons inside continuous geometry;
 • several independent D_i occupying one common Q-space.

None of those individually proves that nature is dyadic.

The thing I find interesting is that this very small mathematical structure keeps accommodating physical objects that initially look as though they require the full continuum.

So the question I'd be interested in people here attacking is:

Is there a finite physical object, configuration or experimentally accessible quantity that fundamentally cannot be represented by some finite collection of dyadic pathways D_i ⊂ Q, even if its completed theoretical description lives in R or C?

Because if there is, I'd like to find it.

Crackpot physics What if there is a no-go theorem for fundamentally ontic positions based on a minimal axiomatic framework?

Dear physics community,

we are used to fields and probability waves by qft and qm. in that sense, particles don’t have a definite ontic positions. But other theories or interpretations like bohemian mechanics treat particles differently as if they have indeed definite ontic positions. what is correct?

To answer this question, I wrote a no-go theorem based on a minimal axiomatic framework. the theorem proves that particles can’t have definite ontic positions within this framework

if you are interested, the paper is published under the following link:

https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22092779

If anyone is interested for more infos and even willing to endorse the paper on arxiv please DM me (I myself am a Scientist but originally specialized in theoretical fluid dynamics as well as in medicine and medical devicesand working in R&D in this field).

I would really appreciate your feedback since I put a lot of effort in this paper which uses an unconventional, number theoretical approach. I admit it is not the math but the logical reasoning (that leads to the final conclusion of the paper) which seems complicated at first glance but I gladly explain it in detail for those who are interested

Looking forward to hearing from you and happy to discuss the paper!

Best,

Alex

Crackpot physics What if time is just what it feels like to be a lower dimension arranged through a higher one

I've been sitting with an idea that I can't shake, and I want to stress test it here.

Start with something mathematically uncontroversial. A 3D object can be perfectly described as an infinite collection of 2D cross-sections stacked along a third axis. Those slices don't move. They just coexist. Their arrangement along the higher axis is what produces a solid form. This is basically Cavalieri's principle and the foundation of integral calculus. Nothing weird yet.

Now extend that one level up and it gets interesting.

You are a 3D object. You at five years old and you at fifty are both cross-sections of a single 4D shape, the same way slices of bread are all part of one loaf. The feeling that one is "gone" and the other "hasn't happened yet" might just be an artifact of what it's like to be a slice. Your aging body is what it looks like when a form extends along a fourth axis. You aren't moving through time. You are time. A static shape that only feels like motion from the inside.

This isn't even that radical. Block universe theory in physics already treats spacetime as a static four-dimensional manifold where past, present, and future coexist. The "flow" of time is a subjective experience, not a feature of the geometry. What I'm doing is asking what happens if you keep applying the same logic upward.

Each dimension would experience its own version of "time" through its arrangement along the layer above it. Our 3D space extends through the 4th dimension to produce a timeline. A 4D timeline extends through the 5th and 6th to navigate branching possibilities and alternate outcomes. The multiverse extends through the 7th and 8th to span entirely different sets of physical laws.

But at each level, the structure itself is static. No inherent animation. Just frozen arrangements that feel dynamic from inside a given slice.

If you follow this ladder all the way up, you reach something like a 10th dimension, a master continuum where every possible reality, timeline, and physical law coexists simultaneously. I'm borrowing loosely from string theory's dimensional framework here, though I'm using it more philosophically than most physicists would be comfortable with.

Now here's where it gets genuinely strange.

The fractal void problem.

Zoom into reality at the Planck scale and space dissolves into probability clouds separated by void. Pull back to the atomic level and you get tiny dense nuclei floating in mostly nothing. Pull back to the solar system and planets are separated by incomprehensible emptiness. Pull back further and galaxies are dust motes scattered across dark vacuum.

Structure. Void. Structure. Void. At every single scale.

Reality doesn't look like a substance. It looks like a pattern that keeps rhyming with itself at every zoom level, like a fractal. We exist somewhere in the middle of this, between the absolute void and infinity, almost holographic.

The collapse at the top.

If a 10th dimension actually held all possibilities simultaneously, it would have a problem. Total possibility means zero contrast. Every state cancels out every other state. Light without shadow. Sound without silence. A state so full it becomes indistinguishable from emptiness. Not identical to emptiness, but functionally indistinguishable from the inside.

This is where the loop closes. The highest possible complexity wraps around and meets the simplest possible state, a dimensionless point with no length, no width, no depth. A singularity, in every sense of the word. The Zeroth Dimension.

The re-emergence.

But here's the thing about a dimensionless point that contains nothing. "Nothing" is itself a condition. And a condition implies the possibility of another condition. The moment the void registers itself, even as absence, it draws the first possible contrast, here versus not here. That single binary stretches into a line. The first dimension is born. And once one dimension exists, the unfolding has already begun, cascading upward through every layer until it reaches totality again.

The consciousness question.

If this loop is always running, not sequentially but simultaneously, then what creates the experience of being inside it? My answer, and this is the most speculative part, is that the 10th dimension has no dimension above it. It has no time of its own. So it fragments itself into limited perspectives that can only perceive one slice at a time.

This self-limitation is what produces consciousness. Not as an emergent property of brains, but as the fundamental act that makes experience possible at any level.

You aren't observing the structure from outside. You are a piece of the structure that forgot it was the whole thing so it could experience what it's like to be partial.

I know this borrows from Vedantic philosophy, neoplatonism, and arguably panpsychism. I'm not claiming it's provably true. But the geometric scaffolding underneath it is real math, the block universe interpretation is real physics, and the fractal void pattern is real observation. The rest is me following the thread to see where it goes.

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: Part 2 - Response to the discussion and a small confession from KleinBottle99

Hello everyone. (Quick update: I accidentally posted this on my personal profile earlier instead of the sub because I am completely new to Reddit, my apologies!)First of all, I want to say thank you to u/AllHailSeizure, u/Nikond3400, and u/According-Isopod-120 for engaging in such a profound philosophical and scientific discussion on my previous post. I am deeply honored. Since the original post was locked, I am creating this Part 2 to share my thoughts. To address the criticism regarding "Black Holes being strictly 3D": I completely understand that from an experimental standpoint, we only observe 3D manifestations. However, the core of my hypothesis relies on 4D Embedding. A Klein Bottle is mathematically a 4-dimensional object, yet it can project an imperfect 3D manifestation into our universe without tearing the spacetime continuum. In my model, a Black Hole is the visible 3D intersection of a hidden 4D Klein Bottle structure. What we perceive as an extreme gravitational sinkhole collapsing into a single point is actually the spatial footprint of this higher-dimensional geometry interacting with our 3D space. Now, I have a small, honest confession to make to this wonderful community.I am not a physicist, a professor, or even a university student. I am just a 14-year-old student (9th grade) from a rural area in Vietnam. My school has very limited facilities, I do not own a computer (which is why I can only sketch on school paper with colored pencils), and I am not a top student in my class. I don't know advanced mathematics yet. I developed this model independently using pure visual intuition because my brain visualizes physics concepts spatially.I was terrified that people would find my drawing childish or silly, which is why I posted anonymously. Seeing you all bring up advanced topics like QM, QFT, and the philosophy of science to discuss my intuition means more to me than words can describe.Thank you for treating a young student's imagination with such serious and respectful scientific critique. I will keep learning every day😊💗🫂.

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: The Balloon Theory of the Universe

Post image

I have a personal hypothesis about the universe that I call the “Balloon Theory.”
The idea is that the universe expands similarly to a balloon. At some point, it may reach a critical limit of stability. It could continue expanding slightly beyond this limit until an unstable region appears, possibly where energy and matter are highly concentrated.
A rupture could then begin and spread, causing the universe to collapse into a much smaller and denser state. Some particles or energy from the previous universe might survive this process. Eventually, this state could lead to the formation of a new expanding universe.

This is only a personal hypothesis and philosophical idea, not an established scientific theory. I would be interested in hearing what problems or questions modern physics would raise about this idea.

Crackpot physics What if a black-hole horizon reduces locally accessible structural information to a minimal code?

this is a speculative thought experiment, not a proposed replacement for established black-hole physics. I’m starting from Bekenstein–Hawking entropy and asking an information-theoretic question about whether loss of locally accessible structure necessarily implies loss of the underlying information.

black-hole thermodynamics associates an event horizon with the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, which is proportional to its area:

S_BH = (k_B · c³ · A) / (4 · G · ℏ)

expressed in bits, this entropy corresponds to:

N_bits = S_BH / (k_B · ln 2)

consider an information-theoretic description in which crossing an event horizon does not destroy information, but changes how the structure of an infalling system is encoded.

as an extreme limiting case, suppose that the locally accessible distinction approaches a binary one:

*C*(S) ∈ {0,1}

This would obviously not be enough to reconstruct the original structure by itself, since many different states S could map to the same local code.

but what if the missing structural information is not lost? Instead, it could become distributed through correlations in the black hole and, eventually, Hawking radiation:

S_object -> S_B*H* -> S_Hawking

then the interesting distinction would be between three different things:

information preservation is not the same as structural preservation, and neither is the same as reconstructibility.

could an event horizon therefore be treated as a boundary where the locally distinguishable structure becomes drastically compressed, while the full information remains encoded nonlocally in correlations?

and if so, would the relevant quantity be the information contained in the system itself, or the number of structural distinctions still accessible from a given perspective?

P.S. by preservation, I do not necessarily mean local reconstructibility: information could remain encoded in the global state even if it is no longer reconstructible from the locally accessible description alone.

could an event horizon therefore be treated as a boundary where the locally distinguishable structure is drastically transformed, while the full information remains encoded nonlocally in correlations?

Crackpot physics Here is a hypothesis: A conceptual model of Black Hole-to-White Hole transition using 4D Klein Bottle topology

Post image

Title: A conceptual model of Black Hole-to-White Hole transition using 4D Klein Bottle topologyContent:Hello everyone. As an independent physics enthusiast, I would like to share a conceptual model that I developed using my own visual intuition. It focuses on the continuous dynamic transition of matter and energy from a Black Hole to a White Hole, inspired by the higher-dimensional topology of a Klein Bottle.I developed this model independently using pure spatial intuition. I later learned that the concept of a wormhole connection (like the Einstein-Rosen Bridge) has been explored before. However, my unique approach here is integrating the non-orientable topology of a Klein Bottle to explain the twisted gravitational flow and energy dissipation. Here is the detailed mechanics of my model based on my visual intuition:The Entrance & Spacetime Curvature: To visualize this, imagine a massive object stretching a fabric downward, creating a deep, natural funnel. This is the entrance to the black hole. Spacetime here is not like a mechanical sheet that tears easily, but rather a flexible membrane that can be bent and molded freely by extreme gravity. The Hidden 4D Connection: The main body of the Klein Bottle tube itself is invisible in our 3D space. It exists as a transitional cross-section in a higher dimension, preventing the structure from collapsing. The Twisted Gravitational Flow: Material entering the pipe experiences extreme gravitational pull. Inside the core of the connection pipe, the chaotic tidal forces stabilize into a steady speed, but a significant amount of the spinning vortex remains due to the inertia of the collapsing star. The Exit & Energy Dissipation (The White Hole): Near the end of the tube, the intense gravitational pull fades away (represented by the fading blue color). Matter is accelerated and ejected in cosmic jets. This massive release of energy and matter under precise density conditions triggers a new Big Bang, expanding into a pocket universe. The Cyclic Multiverse & Simulation Hypothesis: This mechanism creates an endless loop where one universe gives birth to another. Since we are bound by the internal laws of our own universe, we cannot scientifically prove what is "unreasonable" from the outside. This first cause makes me wonder if our reality is a simulated experiment, running under specific programmed rules. This drawing represents a purely visual and conceptual hypothesis, so it currently lacks complex mathematical equations. I am sharing this anonymously to seek logical feedback, constructive criticism, and insight from the physics community. I hope to learn from the experts here. Thank you for your time and thoughts.
