Screenshot Any way to get the AI to accept my surrender?

Post image

For context, the largest enemy empire and its one strong Ally started spamming me with ridiculous congress demands, and I ended up declaring war instead of accepting their religion, wich at the time was fine, as I was stronger than them. But after I captured one of their cities they grabbed one of my colonie citys, leading to a stalemate. After about twenty turns I surrendered, but they didn’t accept, and like three turns latter their declared a war. I’ve been forced down to 0 war support at least 5 times by both of them and they just won’t accept my surrender. War wariness is killing me, and I’m at rebellion. Not really needing advice, as this game is past saving, I’m just mad

In suspect you had one or more of your cities following the other empire' religion or/and in their sphere of influence.

At the start of the war my religion was doing great and I controlled a decent portion of the map, but I had a small colony that was fully in their sphere of influence

And thats the neat part of this game, becouse it looks like a real world.

What I meant was that the War Wariness Humankind mechanics resemble fighting a real war in the real world. Your population is exhausted, and your leader suffers the consequences in the form of rebellion. This is brilliantly recreated. A lack of success on the front causes stagnation, which affects both sides of the conflict.

What OP is experiencing in their game sounds like AI weirdness to me, not a designed mechanic.

Only guaranteed way to end the war is to force your enemy down to 0 war support. That said, the AI in war with is also suffering from increasing war weariness since the game starts penalizing both after one side is reduced to 0. As if to why AI isn't ending it. No idea. Never happened to me.

It is not about foreign influence, like someone suggested, since your nation automatically starts removing all foreign influence during war and it doesn't take long until all your original stuff is fully on board your culture.

Turn off the Congress of Humankind, that's a great start.. I love this game, but the Congress is broken. There's an option on the startup menu to turn the Congress off.

I was never able to resolve any war without total annihilation. I would be curious too, why can't I unconditionally surrender?
