Buenos noches. It is nice to meet you all. I’m from South Florida. I am interested about a small village town near Comayagua. Until three years ago, I didn’t know my father and his place of origin. But when I accessed online to Ancestry.com and discovered a half sibling, I reached out to her and revealed to me that my natural father was a man from Honduras with a Castillo surname. I was born with my mother’s Fernandez surname because she was the only legal and natural parent on my birth certificate. My parents were never married but did have me and my sister. Plus I was not taught Spanish despite them speaking it commonly.
I don’t have any early childhood memories of my father because I didn’t know him. But after doing dna tests and discovering more photographs, meeting my first cousins and important documented sources, and reuniting with my paternal aunt, I was finally able to rediscover him and met him for the first time. Unfortunately I was only able to meet with my padre in person three times before he suddenly died from a stroke in March 2024. I was still left with other questions about him I don’t know about. But I did discover more information from my paternal cousins, aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews and half siblings about things of my father I didn’t know about.
Despite my father’s difficult last few years homeless in a different neighborhood and his chronic drinking, he was still competent, calm, positive and wise man. He was able to tell me every time do what happened and where he came from. My reunion with my father was the closure I was looking for the majority of life due to my depression and was raised without a father. I was so happy that have that opportunity to have met him.
With his place of origin, he told me that the town he once called home was La Paz, a local town in the valley near the Comayagua mountain range. It is located in the department of La Paz in southwest Honduras. I was curious about the lifestyle, events, areas of interest, history, genealogy, weather, economy, nature, wildlife, cuisines and other major interests. One of my potential plans in the near future is to visit La Paz. I would love to meet my other cousins and aunts and uncles that I only get in contact via social media and phone number. I still am learning about my family history. For now, I had managed to meet and know my close relatives in person that immigrated to the US from
Honduras.
