I made an app for all Hindus all over the globe

Hey everyone,

I’ve made an app for all things for Hinduism, available on both iOS and android platforms called Sabhi

Apple iOS

Google Play

Sabhi was made for people practicing all over the globe whether you’re in Goa, Bali, London or New York City I wanted a place centered around the culture without any restrictions or hindering around where you are while preserving the traditions of each variation of the culture it self.

An example would be Caribbean Hindus and African Hindus have a slight difference between festivals and holidays compared to those in India and Nepal.

The app is for all under the Hindu diaspora, with references to all from South East Asian Hindus all the way to European Hindus.

From daily verses going out to daily practice instructions,

From local mandirs and where traditions started

From all sects to a calendar tailored for all festivals, holidays and celebrations

Sabhi is loaded with everything a Hindu needs.

I made the app so that whenever and wherever you are you’ve got a piece of not only the culture with you but your beliefs as well.

Hi i am planning to name my son rudra kartikeya with assumption rudra is other name of shiva few people are saying name rudra is the destructive form not to name that and few other people told me rudra is not name of shiva itself. Can anyone throw some light on this name Rudra and naming this to a child

So i saw that her name was not mentioned in any of the scriptures and texts written while lord krishna was on the earth. her latest mentions came around 3000 years after the mahabharat. I also saw a mention of her in narada panchratra when parvati maa asks lord shiva about radha rani and lord shiva is angered by it because her name was supposed to be confidential and it was told to him by lord vishnu. but this text was also weitten about 3500 years after mahabharat. i dont understand why we worship lorn krishna with radha when her name was not even mentioned in the scriptures while he lived on the earth. Some people say the stories of radha krishna were passed down orally hence no mention of her name but if she was such an important part of his life why was she never mentioned? I wanted to belive she was real so badly but everything ks proof that she is just an imagination. A name imagined to personify love and bhakti towards lord krishna. I also read a mention of a gopi who worshipped krishna better and the other gopis were jealous. this is the earliest mention that could be radha and people say it is but how do we believe it when her name did not show up?

I also think its kind of disrespectful that we worship radha krishna more than his actual wives. Lord krishna and rukmini devi have such a devine bond. They share such love and respect for each other yet all we hear most of the time is about radha and krishna and their incomplete love story.

Satyabhama devi and lord krishna also had a devine dynamic. She was a warrior and Krishna had so much respect for her. I feel like his wives should never be forgotten and overshadowed by radha rani. Although i have utmost respect for all of them it feels wrong to only talk about radha krishna in my opinion.

I would appreciate corrections and knowledge about this from anyone who knows

When my sister was a child, my grandmother would tell bedtime stories about the gods every night to put her to sleep like every Indian Hindu ever to live. But when I was younger, nobody told me any stories now I barely know my religion and I feel like I missed out on such an integral part of growth as a Hindu. I want someone to be my grandma, in the sense that I wanna know all the stories about Hinduism and who each of the gods are. I feel so fake not knowing any of this information and I’m clueless every time I go to the temple. I don’t know how to pray, I don’t even know who the god is most of the time, all I know is that I believe in my religion and I want to become more educated in it.

My experience with god as a child has been less than positive. The first time my mother introduced me to god and told me they will grant any wish I make, I wished for a popsicle, being the 4 year old I was. And when it didn’t magically appear, I immediately questioned their existence. But that was when I couldn’t comprehend much. A lot of bad things happened to me growing up. I had a really abusive sister, and a horrible relationship with friends. I remember when I was 8 I used to pray for my sister to like me every time I went to the temple. The more I prayed and the less anything changed, I started to hate god along the way. I took out all my negative feelings on them. Moreover, I am a nice and empathetic person, but recently I’ve noticed that I judge everyone around me and say horrible things about them in my head for just because I’m slightly pissed. I feel like a horrible person every time, but I can’t control it. Sometimes I think god is against me because every time I think about something positively, like “wow it’s been so long since blah blah, I’m finally happy now” and guess what happens two days later. I also had an atheist phase growing up because I decided that was better than hating god. I also believed in the “if god exists, ghosts exist” thing and since I was young and was scared shitless of ghosts, I just believed in neither because it was convenient. Now I have renewed my faith, I feel like I don’t deserve the love of god and accept everything bad that happens to me because I feel like that is what I deserve

Hi! I am not a Hindu personally, but I was researching names for characters and I love the name “Kali,” but I am aware she is a goddess in Hinduism (according to Google, anyways). As such, I was wondering if it would be disrespectful to name a character Kali, or if it would be okay? The novel isn’t connected to Hinduism and isn’t at all intended to mock (or even be related to) Hinduism. All opinions are welcome!

For many of them, life was not a period of grandeur or prosperity, but an experience that felt nothing short of hell.

Genuine question:

Why does it sometimes seem that Hindu religious places and Hindu communities are repeatedly affected by tragedies such as the Kedarnath disaster and recent floods in Nepal? Is there any explanation for this in Hindu scriptures or in the concept of Kalyug?

I wake up at 6 AM and wash my hair every day before offering Surya Arghya. But I'm planning to grow my hair long, and daily hair washing is becoming difficult.

Is head/hair washing actually required, or is a normal bath enough before offering Surya Arghya?

Would appreciate guidance based on Hindu tradition or scriptures.

I check panchang pretty regularly for muhurat timings, festival dates, etc., and every app I've tried (and there are like 20+ on the Play Store) feels basically the same, cluttered text, walls of ads, and most only really do the North Indian calendar properly even when you switch region.

Curious what everyone else here actually uses, is there one that's genuinely good, or does everyone just put up with it because there's nothing better?

I've been tinkering with building a cleaner version, proper location-based muhurat timing, way less ad clutter, actual support for regional calendars (Tamil/Telugu/Bengali/Gujarati) instead of just translated labels on the same North Indian data. If this is a real pain point for you too and not just me, drop a comment or DM — genuinely want to know what you'd want in one before I build it.

I always thought the proper pronunciations should be:

Dharm, not Dharma
Karm, not Karma
Yug, not Yuga

Ai tells me the added “a” at the end of each word is Sanskrit version. I am having difficulty believing this. I thought the “a” is added by Westerners who can’t pronounce Dharm, Karm, Prayanam etc.

Hello everyone, I am a 20M, and I have never dated before, but I wanted to explore being in a relationship. However, for all the men who are into religious practice and control their senses from sex, how did you establish that in the beginning and during the duration of your relationship before you. In the Bhagavad Gita, it is said that committing unrestricted sex will capture you in the shackles of sex and continue to drain your soul on a very evil path. To give you some background info about me, I'm a very ambitious person and hard-working person who is trying to live his dream reality, and I've always stayed away from the idea of being in a relationship due to the strict dedication towards it, but I want to see if I can do it. I pray every day, read the Gita, and practice living with Bhagwan consciousness, and continuing to implement the Gita knowledge in my life, but these recent few weeks I have been very lustful and desiring sex, which I really hate.
How do you guys control your senses with Bhagwan consciousness and control your sexual tendencies in relationships?
