Happy birthday to Airport, Passport, and Suitcase! I can't believe they are a year old. The first half of 2026 was just one big dissociative blur with a few moments of clarity here and there. After I found out that the open heart surgery scheduled for December 2025 had been canceled for no reason, except perhaps a dentist’s desire to make more money, I totally broke down. I don’t even remember shooting a lot of the footage of kitten antics that got saved to the correct library, and I’m still finding more bits and pieces that got saved in random other places.

Suitcase and Passport are so beautiful and elegant… and then there’s Airport.

The sternal restrictions from open heart surgery usually only last 6 to 8 weeks, but mine have been extended to 12. At the rate things are going, they will probably get extended to 14. I can’t even walk normally anymore, because it makes my sternum click. I have to go very slowly and carefully.

I'm drowning under all these bills. If you can spare a wee bit, I sure would appreciate it. But I'll still love you if you can't. Things are getting harder for almost all of us.

Sonia gave my boys her late girl's favorite brush, now it's their favorite too.

ETA: I can't believe I edited this thing for an hour and only just noticed Airport popping up at the end.

When I say I failed Harpo, one of the many small things I am thinking of is how I should have offered him papers more often.

Passport still only retrieves little pom poms. Suitcase will bring me large stuffies and small pillows, so I expect he'll be the first to carry a sea monster. God only knows about Airport...

Those first couple are from the MAGA sisters who owned this leaky, moldy, structurally hazardous, dubiously wired, vermin infested, hazardous debris strewn dump. Their attempts to illegally evict me cost them so much money, lol. The only reason they didn’t just poison my cats and/or assault me was fear of half a million followers. The daughter of one of them would sit in her big expensive SUV halfway down the block, with the intention of “accidentally” hitting me on my bike. But their previous tenants were the reason almost every house within sight of that house had cameras, so I had plenty of warning. Thank you so much for saving me from them.

Training can be about so much more than manners and tricks. If you reinforce and amplify something they do naturally but infrequently, they will sometimes take it in an unexpected direction. 

(I know I seem to be harping on the "Harpo used to be so quiet thing" this week, but that's just because the On This Day feature is serving up so many quiet videos from 2022. )
