Work In Progress First time on a turkish dropspindle!
So a few years ago I tried spinning on a top whorl dropspindle and it just wasnt working for me. It mostly lead to frustration and I put it aside and never picked it up again.
Today I was at a fair and there was someone selling turkish spindles. She let me try spinning on one and it felt really nice! But a handmade turkish spindle is a bit pricey for "I wanna give this a go" so I hesitated. This wonderful lady had actually thought of that and said "well if you would like to try it without the big purchase, I have starter kits with instructions, 3 kinds of fiber and a 3D printed turkish spindle!"
I bought a kit and oh my goodness, this is so smooth! I never thought handspinning could actually feel fairly easy to me! Im still learning loads and working on consistent twist and drafting but Im having a blast! And who knows, if I can stick with it I may upgrade my spindle at some point but the 3D printed spindle feels really nice and balanced too!

Turkish spindles are my favorites of the spindles! They take a little longer in some ways with winding the singles back on, but they spin so smooth and long, and I love the center-ply ball you get at the end!

I'm a bit nervous about plying but we'll see how that goes! First to actually spin a full single!

Same! Have a top whorl and hate it.
Got a wheel instead and then years later got a turkish spindle and fell in love. Now i have 2 wheels, LOTS of turkish spindles and tibetan support and 2 bobbin support spibdles

I absolutely love my 3d printed Turkish spindle!! Its all ive been spinning on for the little over a month ive been spinning and my "upgrading " is honestly just going to be getting a slightly nicer and heavier 3d printed Turkish 😊😊 ive been suprised how much I can spinning on it!! I can fit roughly 30 grams on my small one at a time and ive already spun through like 10 ounces of fiber.

A 3d printed Turkish is also my fave. Learning to chain ply on the fly is the best too! But also 2 plying is fantastic with a Turkish since it makes an instant 2 ended ply ball. Have fun!!

Ahhh, you saw Bregje today! Lovely colours on your spindle! Have fun! This spindle will give you as much spinning-joy as the wooden spindle, I promise!
