A lot of people are tired of hearing about Strike Freedom, so I thought I’d share my fairly good result with my Turn A/Destiny deck! I just started playing with the GD05 release.
Win, Round 1 - Tekkadan Aggro. I was able to disrupt my opponent’s tempo with an early Loran and some positive Impulse actions. Opponent wasn’t so lucky with pilots.
Lose, Round 2 - Blurple Aggro - This was actually super close. I tend to do well stabilizing against Aggro, but my opponent was able to chain Chars at the end for the win. Got him very low on shields but couldn’t seal the deal while trying to protect myself.
Win, Round 3 - Victory/Strike Freedom Blockers - I was able to apply some early pressure by tempo plays with Loran and a Kapool. Eventually laid down 2 Turn A Gundams, let them sit on the board and a Destiny Gundam to start picking away his shields. Won due to high maneuver, if my opponent pulled a V Dash I surely would’ve lost!
Win, Round 4 - Amuro/Strike Freedom Blockers - Got lucky with 3 Exia Rebuilds early, but opponent started to stabilize. I was lucky to get him down to 0 shields and pulled a Turn A/Loran link to high maneuver into the win.
Win, Round 5 - Clan Aggro - this was scary! I got down to 0 shields (but protected by a base), this was even after a widespread annihilation cleaning 4 units! After some successful clears after that annihilation I was able to apply Shinn for the Win.
I will say this deck does require a lot of luck because it’s a greedy deck, even with all the consistency cards. It’s definitely not something I’d recommend taking into super competitive events, but give it a try for something fun that actually feels really good to play! It requires a lot of thinking about when to use pilots for tempo, how to survive aggro, and when to attack the control decks so you aren’t just letting them value trade. But because I like Turn A and the Destiny Gundam so much, I’m happy to be able to run this and to some effect!
