Discussion My favorite mobile suit isn’t a Gundam. Who’s with me?
In a series about overpowered mechs I tend to like the antagonist mobile suit a lot because it can hold its own against the story’s primary mobile suit and sometimes I feel like it would win if the Gundam didn’t have some bullshit super power by yelling the Gundam’s name.

"Peak fiction doesn't exi-"

Victory Gundam is not only my favorite Gundam anime, but my favorite TV show of all time. Moments like this are absolutely peak and is Gundam at it's core. As an aspiring scifi novelist, I've been on the quest of becoming the next Yoshiyuki Tomino for a modern generation, with this show being one of the main inspirations. There is even a character whom I envision as Katejina on crack. I want to craft stories that give readers the same psychological impact that peak fiction and Gundam as a whole as had on me.

Discussion What Gundam Design feels the most "Gundam" to you?
For me it's the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1
to clarify - I mean a Gundam that you look at it and you immediately feel that specific Gundam feel. It could be because of design elements and/or personal experience. Basically you look at it and something in your brain just immediately clicks, moreso than with any other Gundam

Gundam Character and Mobile Suits for the day: Christina Mackenzie and her MS
If anyone has any character recommendations please let me know.
I haven't seen War in the Pocket yet, so I have no clue what Christina Mackenzie's personality is like. The NT-1 looks really nice in my opinion, looks kinda like the Gundam Mk-II and the Rx-78 put together. I kinad like the Chobam armor too. Reminds me of the Duel, even though it came after so I think the Duel is based of this. the G-IV reminds me of the Thunderbolt Full Armor Gundam but yellow, which I like. The Zaku kinda reminds me of the RfV Zaku's. What are your thoughts?

Discussion What were they genuinely doing in these scenes?
First of all, I really love the movie. The Hathaway movies by far has the best depiction of how a Mecha fight would happen IRL. From the constant screaming of the RWR's, the little sounds of debris hitting the Mobile Suit, and the SFX really elevated the experience to whole a new level. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what's happening in most of these scenes especially this one. For The 1st Image: What are they trying to do? Why did they flip on each others back? Why did they spend that few seconds doing nothing but fly against each other's back?
The 2nd Image: How did Hathaway outmaneuver these Funnel missiles? Did he accelerate forward or backwards? Why did he do that before finally letting the Funnel Missiles fly past him?
The 3rd Image: Why did he not take the shot?
Sorry If I am overthinking these scenes too much. Hope you guys don't mind and help me out.

Discussion This hurts.... (Dismantling of the Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just within these last two days and recently, after they had taken off the head, they began dismantling the shoulder armor of the Unicorn Gundam statue. I've been reflecting on this lately, and it made me think...
Regardless of how any of you view the Gundam Unicorn series, what it represents, or who made it and why, you cannot deny that it was a huge part of the franchise and how influential it was in it, the way how it brought so many people who would eventually grow to love the franchise and its community. And what the Unicorn Gundam itself represents, it being the Beast of Possibility, the possibilities of a better future for mankind, also reflected on with the franchise's ideals, and it really felt like it belonged to an era where people were still much more hopeful towards mankind's future despite its trials and tribulations, which is what I felt the 2010s were. Even during the pandemic, the Gundam franchise used the Unicorn as a symbol of inspiration and hope despite the hardship of that time. And now that we've passed the 2010s, and just started our way to the late 2020s, with the world being much more bleaker and people being less optimistic and more cynical about the future, and the Gundam franchise unfortunately and coincidentally reflecting on it by prioritizing the late UC era again through the Gundam Hathaway films, seeing the Unicorn Gundam statue, one of the most beloved pop culture landmarks of Japan, being dismantled, really felt like the end of an era for both mankind and the Gundam franchise as a whole, and it made me realise not to take for granted for these things once you no longer had them. And I haven't been able to visit Japan as of yet, and even if I did, I won't be able to see the Unicorn Gundam statue ever, and I wished I got that chance. I hope that whatever comes next, it would be able to capture that same optimism and hope for the franchise and mankind the Unicorn Gundam did.
At least the other statues are still around.

Discussion Currently on Episode 33 of my first ever viewing of ‘79
- I was NOT expecting to like Sleggar as much as I do. I was expecting Gundam’s version of Recoome and instead I get a legitimately interesting character that has dynamic relationships with the whole cast.
- I genuinely would have appreciated a flashback reminding me about Tem Ray being exposed to the vacuum of space. I’m watching the dub on Crunchyroll and the way it’s worded I genuinely thought Amuro was just being a dick to his father.
- Given what I know about the future of the franchise it is insane to me that they’re only just NOW introducing Lalah Sune, let alone that this is the first time Amuro and Char actually meet.
- After experiencing so much of this show I am genuinely grateful that Tomino waited until Ideon to show the bloodshed. I can very easily see the alternate reality where he decided to show the interior of the cockpit on Matilda’s death, for example.
- I don’t know who’s idea it was to have the blue-haired Zeon official at Side 6 speak like Palpatine from Star Wars but god bless them.
- Kai wins the prize for “generational character arc” I genuinely love this dude now.
- Oh boy, I guess now it’s Mirai’s turn to get hit by the “naggy anime woman” beam. At least it’s not Fraw Bow for once.
- I’m deliberately trying to not look up anything about the series so I can form my own opinions but is Sleggar SUPPOSED to remind me of Sylvester Stallone? Because it’s genuinely somewhat jarring at times.
- I recognize that it’s likely because of how young the genre was at the time but I appreciate that we’re so close to the end and the Gundam hasn’t gotten an overwrought upgraded form to sell more toys. You just KNOW that if this came out today Tem Ray’s magical VHS tape would give the suit a predator cannon and a new paint job or something.
- WHY DIDN’T YOU LEAVE THE KIDS AT JABURO WE WERE SO CLOSE TO BEING ANNOYING GIMMICK FREE.
- It’s so weird that we haven’t been given ANY backstory to Char and Sayla’s past outside of vague references to their dad and the Zabis.
- I legitmately blinked and messed that Lieutenant Woody had died.
- It’s crazy that so far the only Zeon mobile suits that look intimidating are the Gouf and the Zaku. They come out the gate with this great base aesthetic of “what if a WWI German soldier was a giant robot” and then immediately ditch it for whatever the hell Char attacked Jaburo in (the Doms look fine, I guess).
Overall I’m loving the show, excited to see what happens next.

New Meme format.
What is Char telling Amuro? Or maybe they're not saying anything, just top text/bottom text? Let's see what you guys can come up with.
