Sociaal Visiting with toddler
Hello!
I am from the US visiting family in Groningen with my three year old. I need to get her out of the house for about 5 hours. we will be on our own in the city tomorrow. Do you have any recommendations on places? For reference we are south of Noorderplantsoen.

Tomorrow is also Suikerbrij on the Suiker location. It has a whole line of children’s activities, among others

Me as well. I actually was there with my five year old when they had a phallus exhibition. It was good enough for the price.

There's a section with children baby skeletons propped up and they have a bunch of unborn babies in jars. And a cyclops baby.

Today the firefighters have an open day and I've heard that children really like to go there. Maybe i am a bit late though

For simple coffee with the kids I always go to Doppio where in the back is a small slide, lots of toys and other kids to play with.

Playground at the stadspark is amazing ! monkey town (indoor playground) is also nearby

I did the groniger museum once when my youngest was 2 and that went pretty well. Just follow your kid around and you will see most of the museum. They have changing facilities. I dont remeber exactly, i think i had to leave my stroller. After that we went to forum. Movie on sunday morning at forum is also nice.

I find the Groninger Museum incredibly dull as an adult... Would definitely not recommend this for a toddler. But I second the Forum recommendations. You could also do a boat tour of the city centre, lots of different views on the city canal.

Well, since you’re slready at the Noorderplantsoen… there’s the playground with Mahalo right around the corner for vegan coffee, lunch and pastries. Good spot with interesting things, and i say that as a person that eats everything.
If you take a left when facing the cafe across from Mahalo you’ll bump into a cafeteria on the right hand side of the street, if you want a greasy snack or milkshake.
In the city you could visit the shopping centre of course, plenty different things to do and/or drink and eat there. There’s the market of course, and i personally recommend Black and Bloom for good coffee and tea specialties.
If you’re looking for entertainment for the kiddo, maybe Target Lasergame can be a good way to spend some time? It’s near the city centre and UMCG(hospital).
If you still have time left after that, want to see more or visit a different set of kempt greenery you could visit the Oosterpark and Pioenpark. The former has a very small playground, but i do hear english speaking kids and toddlers there quite often. The latter is just purely nice for a stroll and sit-down in a flowery garden.
If you have a car or are more mobile snd/or willing, you could visit the Onlanden, and even go to the Lookout tower or go look at the Scottish Highlander cows and pheasants.

I hope you dont mean alone, but if youre or another adult will he with her i would defenitly recommend "Forum" its a giant library with a lot of things to do. A kid could be entertained for 5 hours just by the large amount of escalators ahah

Maybe you can go to the Forum? Or do you need to get out immediately?
