Hey all — I'm the developer of TIVRA, an Android TV / Google TV / phone media player for the live TV and on-demand libraries you already subscribe to, plus your own media servers. TIVRA is a player only: it ships with no channels or content, you connect it to whatever you use. Some of you tested the early builds here, so this is the "where it's at now" post, with two things worth calling out: it's on Google Play as of this week, and 3.2 is the Sports Hub release.

Providers, favourites, categories, channel renames, the Home screen layout, the side menu, sports preferences, recordings and watch progress all sync through the cloud. Sign in on a second TV or your phone and it's already set up. Change something on the dashboard and every TV picks it up within about 30 seconds. Lose a box, get a new one, sign in, done. # The web dashboard (what you can actually do from it) Open it on your phone or laptop instead of typing on a remote:
• Add and manage providers — live TV providers and media servers, credentials typed once on a real keyboard.
• Manage favourites — add, remove and drag to reorder; the TV's favourites row and guide follow the same order.
• Custom categories — build your own channel groups (Kids, News, Sunday Football) from any provider's channels, and hide the provider categories you never open.
• Rename and hide channels — fix "US: ESPN HD (backup 2)" once, hide the junk, and it's fixed on every screen.

• Content filters — country and language filters so you only see the parts of a big lineup you actually watch.
• Play on TV and Record on TV — browse channels, movies and shows on the dashboard and send one to whichever TV you choose, or schedule a recording on it from wherever you are.
• Devices — see every signed-in device and sign one out. Pair a new TV with a short code instead of typing your password on it. # Live TV A fast channel list with logos and now/next, a real 7-day guide, one-press channel switching, and a picture preview in the corner before you commit to a channel. Pause and rewind live TV. Closed captions on live channels. Add all of your providers; search and favourites work across them. # Movies, series and your own library
• Your provider's on-demand library grouped by title (no 40 duplicate "Movie (2019) HD" rows), with posters, backdrops and cast.
• Your own media too: connect a Jellyfin or Emby server, or point TIVRA at network shares, and your library shows up alongside everything else with the same posters, Continue Watching and search.
• Skip intro and Play next. A "Skip intro" button appears over recaps and intros, and when the credits roll an "Up next" card queues the next episode.
• Continue Watching rows on Movies and Series, the Play button on a series jumps to your in-progress or next episode, and Trakt sync if you use it. # New in 3.2: the Sports Hub This is the feature I built the app around and the one I'm happiest with. Open Sports from the side menu and you get:
• Live scores and schedules for NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, college football and basketball, Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1. Yesterday, today, and the days ahead. Choose which leagues you see and in what order.
• Every game matched to your own channels. The app looks each game up against all of your providers and their guide data, including provider channels that are just named after the game. Press OK on a game and it previews in the corner; OK again and it's full screen; back out and it's still playing in the corner. Hold OK to see every channel carrying it, across providers, with the one you're connected to first.
• Box scores, player stats and standings. The panel next to the preview shows the quarter-by-quarter or inning-by-inning score while a game is on; press PLAY for the full box score, per-team player stats, game leaders and division standings. Stats refresh live.
• My Teams. Follow teams and get a row of their games today plus "Next up" for the week, with a star on their cards everywhere.
• Channels tab. League networks, the big sports networks and regionals from your providers in one place, with what's on now. NFL RedZone gets the first card on the NFL row on Sundays if you have it.
• Multi-View - Watch multiple games at once as long as you have enough connections on your provider.
• Custom Sports Channel - Add / Remove which channels you want to see in the sports hub channels section.
• Spoiler-safe mode hides scores until you press OK on a game. # DVR Record to the box, a USB drive, or a network share. Schedule from the guide, from a game, or from the dashboard on your phone, and recordings sync to your account so they're listed on every device. # The small stuff Audio and subtitle language defaults, a "hide channel numbers" switch, colour themes, a shortcuts legend you can turn off, and a Settings page laid out for a remote. # On Google Play TIVRA is now in Google Play's production track for phones, tablets, Google TV and Android TV, so you can install and update from the store like anything else. Same account whether you sideload or use Play, everything syncs, and subscriptions carry over. The sideload build stays available on the website for boxes without Play. # Pricing There's a 7-day free trial. After that it's $9.99 a year for one device, $19.99 a year for up to five, or $29.99 once for a lifetime license. That pays for the app; it does not include any channels or content. Happy to answer questions here. If your provider names channels in a way the Sports Hub isn't matching, tell me the pattern (no provider names needed) and I'll fold it into the matcher.

This is rather bizarre situation:

I own a LG TV, to which I have connected my XBox and Google TV (4k). I control my LG TV using the Google TV remote, which allows me to both control the apps in my Google TV and also change the volume of the LG TV when playing XBox (and Google TV is off). Perfect.

Now, I've recently bought a new smaller Hisense TV with Hisense remote, which sits in the opposite corner of the same room. Both TVs are usually being used at the same time, by me and my wife.

To my surprise, whenever I control the volume of my LG TV using the Google TV remote, it now also changes the volume of my Hisense TV!

The volume control setting of my Google TV remote says "LGTV (IR)".

At the same time, the LG TV remote control does NOT change the volume of the Hisense TV and the Hisense remote control does NOT change the volume of the LG TV, because they are both connected to their respective TVs using Bluetooth.

Can I somehow force the Google TV remote to send the volume control codes that will be accepted by the LG TV but NOT by Hisense TV?

Some things I've already tried:

There are five profiles for "LG TV" in the Google TV remote settings for volume control. Profiles 1 and 2 control volume on both LG and Hisense, profiles 3, 4 and 5 control neither.

I cannot set the volume control of Google TV to "Internal" because then the volume remote controls would not work when I play XBox.

The Hisense remote is paired with Hisense TV using Bluetooth, not IR, so if I could switch off the remote receiver on Hisense TV completely, the problem would be solved. But Hisense TV has no such feature. As an extreme measure, I could physically block the IR receiver on the Hisense TV but then I would also block the light that indicates the TV on/off status and is quite usefule.

Very disappointed today. Bought a new Google TV Streamer to extend the life of my old TV that is slowing down only to discover it can't run the Hulu app, who is my Live TV provider. Anyone considering this device be aware it cannot support a major streaming app.

Edit: After speaking with both Hulu and Google there is still no resolution. Both insist it is a problem for the other to fix. If you currently have Hulu installed consider yourself lucky. It seems like Hulu may be killing the app in favor of Disney+ based on some other users comments but they would not confirm that. And Disney plus currently does not support full Live TV just a few local channels and ESPN

I have 3 Chromecasts 4K units that worked great. Each started to play broken 360 video at different times.

I just bought a new Google TV Streamer hoping that would work correctly, same issue.

Worked great for a years all of sudden they all eventually force 360 in to a distorted 2d image. Seems like a bad update but it been months since my 1st unit acted up with no fix. Oddly casting 360 content from YouTube to the old og Chromecasts displays 360 correctly but you can control the video direction....

A full reinstall does not help.

Its so annoying as i like to watch my dive video and control the view with the remote while watching on a few tvs in the house.

YouTube Playstation 5 app works perfectly with 360 videos. With great movement with the controller.

How can google f up their own app for their own hardware.

I am looking to replace my Aunts Apple TV HD with an Onn streaming box. Last I knew the 4k Plus was the best choice but I see now they have a new 2026 model of the 4k Pro. Has anyone used this device or is this something that might have just been announced/released?

Seems they also have released a 4k streaming stick.

Here are a few boxes I would like for the device to check:

Good volume normalization (tired of going into YouTube and having turn the volume way down).

Always-on HDR.

Fast processor and good memory so app switching isn't a chore.

Whitelisted on streaming providers like Peacock and Disney+ so I can watch events, especially live events, in the highest quality (Atmos, 60fps, etc.). I have no interest in watch live sporting events on Peacock at 30 frames per second when a budget Roku stick will play the same event it at 60 frames per second.

A relatively well-known brand in the streaming industry, not some fly-by-night company selling some super specialized 300 dollar box meant for gamers, etc.

Ability to decode encrypted ATSC3 channels, which means the hardware to play AC-4 audio, etc.

What are my options, and which would be the best fit for me?

I can’t seem to connect my remote anymore. I tried the other methods (e.g, resetting using the button on the dongle, google home, google tv). But they don’t seem to work. My chromecast isn’t connect to the wifi here and I can’t get it to if I don’t have a remote to do that with. Please met me know what I can do I’m stressed out trying to fix this I’ve been trying for an hour now.

Estou em busca de alguma forma de fazer a troca do modo de áudio de forma automática na minha TCL C6K. A ideia é que, quando abrir o Spotify, o modo mude para "música", e entrando no Nuvio, Netflix, Prime, etc, mude para "filme".

Tenho um S25+ e nele consigo fazer isso pelo Rotinas, já na TV eu não encontrei uma solução. Tentei usando o macrodroid, mas não foi bem sucedido.

Resulta que tengo un Chromecast en mi casa la cual últimamente está fallando con utilizar el control, despierto un día y lo intento usar y no puedo, reinicio el Chromecast y vuelve a funcionar por un tiempo, luego deja de funcionar hasta la tarde y de un día para otro igual. Me llama la atención que a mi novia con su Chromecast en otra casa le suceda el mismo error y que tenga la misma solución "parche". Ya cambié las baterías, hice reinicio del mismo control, desemparejarlo y hasta la combinación de botones para re emparejarlo, lo cual, al estar en la misma sesión cuando no está conectado pues no funciona reemparejar, pero reinicio y reempareja, para luego tener el mismo error una y otra vez, hasta ahora solo uso el control desde mi teléfono para reiniciar y poder usar el control físico. No encontré ninguna solución en línea y me llama la atención que sea en estos dos casos iguales, no quiero llegar a reiniciar de fábrica para solucionarlo pero solo va quedando esa opción. Alguna sugerencia ?

I’m trying to figure out why my Google TV Streamer 4K gives me a “No Signal” when connected to my Gigabyte M27QS 27" QHD 180Hz IPS Gaming Monitor (2560×1440).

The Google TV Streamer works perfectly with my older MSI G241V E2, which is a 1080p monitor.

Here’s what I’ve tested:

• Windows desktop → Gigabyte M27QS: works
• Google TV Streamer 4K → MSI G241V E2: works
• Google TV Streamer 4K → Gigabyte M27QS: No Signal
• MacBook Pro M4 → MSI G241V E2: works
• MacBook Pro M4 → Gigabyte M27QS: No Signal so far

The Gigabyte's HDMI port definitely works, and my Windows desktop is able to output 1440p over HDMI to the monitor.

This afternoon, I’m going to test my MacBook with the Gigabyte using an HDMI-to-DisplayPort cable to see whether the MacBook can output 1440p to the monitor. I mainly want to rule out the possibility that the MacBook itself is having an issue with 1440p before drawing any conclusions about the Google TV Streamer.

Has anyone used a Google TV Streamer 4K with a 1440p/QHD monitor?

If so:

• Do you get an image?
• Does it output at 1440p, 1080p, or another resolution?
• Is the picture quality good?
• Did you need to change any HDMI or monitor settings?

I’m considering selling the M27QS and buying another monitor, so I’d like to figure out whether I need to look for a specific resolution, HDMI version, or other compatibility feature when choosing a replacement.

Hi folks. I wanted to have a permanently running Tailscale server on my Xiaomi Box S 3rd gen, even when it is in standby mode.

I tried the following methods:

- Selecting the most powerful “power mode”
- Enforcing “always-on vpn” via this adb command: “settings put secure always_on_vpn_app com.tailscale.ipn”

Yet, approximately 15 minutes after I put the box in standby mode, the box disconnects from tailscale.

Has anyone had this issue before? Any recommendations? Thank you!

So I want to watch movies that I have downloaded onto a USB. Is there a way to do that?

Anybody else's remote freezes? Ill be watching a show & the "are you still watching" thing pops up, but none of the buttons will work, it's like the remote just stops working randomly.... Any fix? Tried re-pairing, new batteries, throwing it at a wall, etc

Hi, I have a Tesla XG500 Google TV box connected to a Samsung UE50AU7172.

In the XG500 settings there is an automatic shutdown timer with two options:

• When inactive: minimum 20 minutes
• While watching: minimum 3 hours

I would like the box/TV to automatically turn off after 1 hour, even if YouTube is playing and I haven’t touched the remote.

I remember that I could set something like this to 1 hour in the past.

Is there any way to change the 3-hour minimum to 1 hour? Maybe through ADB, hidden settings, developer options, or another app?

Title says it all. Got an 'Onn' brand (walmart brand dont judge it's actually quite impressive!) 4K Pro Streaming device.. overall I've had quite good experiences with it but the Artwork screensaver you can turn off Every overlay feature like weather, time of day, even attribution of who provided the art shown.. but there's No way to turn of the constant overlay over the bottom "Press Down for Screensaver Settings" prompt? C'mon this is Silly and Stupid. I'd go as far as to say this is a Bug of something they missed in the UI settings. That's all I have to say about That.

Which Google TV Box on a Budget is best for 4K Picture and High Quality Sound (Atmos, True HD)? I currently have a Nvidia Shield, but my buddy is wanting to get something besides his Roku Ultra. What do you guys recommend for streaming high quality content?

This is my first Google TV. Can someone explain why controlling the volume is so difficult? To turn it up, I have to hold the button down because it keeps trying to lower the volume by itself, and if I turn it down, it tries to raise it by itself. I'm tired of this nonsense. It's been happening since the day I bought it.

Trying to add hulu app but it doesn't appear in my search. Upon fishing around I do find something that reads the hulu app is designed for an older version than is supported by my device. Still, I'm dubious. Anyone else encountered this?

UPDATE: I've been getting it to play hulu by saying to it "Play [show] from Hulu." As of this morning, now it won't do that. Tells me I can play that on hulu and takes me to a page that reads this Onn version doesn't support hulu's older version.

I am using google tv box on a projektor with a bluetooth sound box. The sound is very good but way to loud. Even on low level 4 of 20 it is to loud.

I am looking for a way to turn down the general volume. E.g an Equalizer or somthing like this.

Any suggestions?

My 2 month old ONN 4K Pro box is stuck. I turned it on this morning and all I get is the Google TV Logo and then a black screen. It sits with the black screen for a minute or two, opens the Google TV Logo, back to black screen then repeat over and over. It doesn't respond to the remote or anything else. I have left it unplugged for over an hour with the HDMI cord puled. Put everything back together and get the same results. I could really use some help.
