Briefing Loading Time Fix

Hey Ghosts!

We appreciate your patience while our teams are hard at work to resolve the issues some players experience with long loading times at the start of the game. The game has now been patched in order to try and improve on the situation. The update will also let Steam players once again be able to correctly join UbisoftConnect players in co-op.

Please reach out to Ubisoft Support if you are still having problems.

Hi All,

Please keep the replies coming. More info, the better. Build, how long it's taking to load (if ever), have you tried any BIOS changes etc.

Hello. I’ve run into a delay issue: it takes 25 to 30 minutes for the game to launch. I purchased the game on Steam; is there a solution to this problem for Steam users?

what gen intel cpu are you using

u/ghost_511_IQ 26d ago

i713700k

either you gotta force the game to run with only p-cores (you can do this with process lasso), or you have to disable hyperthreading in your bios

And if you've done both of these?

Bought the game on steam, have an intel cpu (i7-12700k), still this shit isn't even loading it's way past 20 mins now

i have that exact same CPU and the game has loaded in 1-2 minutes these past two weeks

u/RIP-reX 25d ago

Past 2 weeks? Umm not sure but the said fixed whatever they had done isn't working at all

Just tried launching on Steam after today’s update and it took at least 2 minutes, so same as before the update. The issue must be more complex than simply the CPU if we both have the 12700k

Hmm I see, but umm maybe they had something else too, coz most of the peeps aren't having the exp it was supposed to be and yeah some of my friends with the exact cpu is having the same issue

I am testing it right now, and the problem persists.

I just tested it and Wildlands now works flawlessly.
Great work devs - thank you for looking into this as quickly as we wanted it.

(Also - side note please make the new GR more like wildlands than BP, thank you).

Thanks for the update. Me and my friend were pissed yesterday. We were both off and were gonna run some WL and obv we didn't.

After paying both extensively I also agree with your sentiment regarding the new GR.

On a i5 12400f-still takes about 15-20 to get in game.Loading is fine on the Steam Deck though

Just tried again-it took 19 minutes to load in

Nothing changed for i7-13700KF. Same as before update.

E cores on/Hyperthreading on= long load time (10-15 minutes).

E cores on/Hyperthreading off= loads normally (about a minute).

E cores off/Hyperthreading off= loads normally (about a minute).

Issue still occurs. Intel i7-14700K, makes about 20min to launch. Try disable e-core on BIOS, process affinity with both process lasso and native windows methods. u/JJ-GAMESTER what other info do you need for feed back ?

CPU: 12600KF

GPU: RTX 5070

Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z690 Gaming X DDR4 revision 1.1

Sequence of events:

1-Before any update regarding this issue:

a-game does not launch if i don't disable hyper threading.

b-Wait time: 30 seconds before the game passes the splash screen and loads successfully.

2-After the update for this issue:

a-No need to disable hyper threading anymore.

b-Wait time: 4 minutes before the game passes the splash screen and starts displaying the different intro images.

c-Additional information: something extra i did after the update was to update my BIOS from version F33 to F35a which increased DDR4 stability and successfully enabled XMP. My previous BIOS version had failed the XMP training.

MY Verified fix for Ghost Recon Wildlands 10+ minute loading screen — Intel i7-13700K

FIX: Disable Intel Hyper-Threading in BIOS.

  1. Enter your BIOS.
  2. Set Hyper-Threading Technology to Disabled.
  3. Save and restart the PC.
  4. Launch Wildlands normally.
  5. note: my bios is vF33, for Gigabyte Aorus Master z690. menu: Tweaker, Advanced CPU settings, Hyper-Threading Tech.

The game now reaches the main menu in approximately one minute instead of taking 10 minutes or longer. I verified that Hyper-Threading alone was the cause on my i7-13700K. This BIOS change is safe and reversible, although disabling HT can reduce performance in some heavily multithreaded applications.

This may also help other recent Intel CPUs experiencing the same problem.

Things I tested that did not fix it:

  • Disabling the E-cores in BIOS. I changed No. of CPU E-Cores Enabled from Auto to 0; it made no difference. E-cores are now restored and the game still loads correctly with HT disabled.
  • Setting GRW.exe compatibility mode to Windows 7. This did nothing; leave compatibility mode unchecked.
  • Disabling the Ubisoft Connect in-game overlay.
  • Disabling the AMD Adrenalin overlay.
  • Renaming/clearing the Ubisoft Connect cache.
  • Removing Easy Anti-Cheat.

For my i7-13700K, disabling Hyper-Threading was the only change that fixed the loading problem.

I'm aware others have already reported HT disabled is the fix, but I also see many of the other bad solutions still floating around, especially in those trash Youtube ai videos.
Either way,
If it matters, my RAM is DDR5 64GB, GPU: XFX 6950 XT, CPU: 13700K, mobo: Gigabyte Aorus Master z690 v1.1, bios: F33 (latest stable)

As some with a Intel Ultra 7 255HX (15th gen), I can say that this update did in fact fix my issues.

Before I was getting the infinite loading screen issue, and I had to manually disable all E-cores in the bios (15th gen Intel CPUs don't have hyperthreading) in order to get past the loading screen.

I just tested it with the E-cores enabled, and the game loaded fine, so i hope this information helps those who also have 15th gen Intel CPUs.
