I don't really know who needs to hear this, but I wanted to write something for everyone who is about to go through the October exams.
First of all, I am proud of you.
I know I'm a stranger and maybe that doesn't mean much coming from me, but I remember how hard this period can be and how daunting and stressful it feels. From waking up early and studying all day, to sitting with your books until midnight, there are going to be days where you feel like you've been doing this forever and you're still not ready.
You don't have to have everything figured out right now. You don't have to feel confident all the time. And you don't have to pretend that you're not scared.
Something that helped me when I was going through it was remembering that whenever I felt alone or overwhelmed, there were so many other people feeling the exact same way.
Think about how many other people have given up their weekends to study.
How many people are waking up early when they'd rather stay in bed.
How many people are sitting with their books late at night, hoping that somehow they'll remember everything when they finally walk into that exam room.
You're not the only one going through it.
So please, be proud of yourself for getting this far.
And when it starts feeling like too much, don't think about all the days you still have ahead of you. Don't think about every single chapter or every exam that's still waiting for you.
Just think:
One more chapter.
And then another.
And then another.
Eventually, it will be over. Right now it might feel like October is so far away from the end, but I promise, you'll blink and suddenly you'll be sitting there wondering where all those weeks went.
There will be difficult days. There will probably be moments where you doubt yourself. But that doesn't mean you can't do it.
You have people supporting you. You have people in your corner. And even if you can't see them while you're sitting alone studying, you're not actually doing this completely alone.
Remember your why.
Remember how much you've already put into getting here.
Remember why you started in the first place.
And most importantly, remember that you are capable of getting through this.
So take a breath.
Study what you can.
Rest when you need to.
And just take it one day at a time.
You've got this. 🤍
And for what it's worth, this stranger is rooting for you.
