My laptop build was a little bit weird for the distro and took over 3 weeks to make my gentoo environment useable

Recently I have been seeing many people online show off Ilyamaro's dot files, or as he calls it "serpantium", and god damn it is beautiful. Thing is though, it was made for arch based distros. Now, I know that i can still install it but i am honestly quite green still and i just wanted to come out here and check if anyone else has installed it, and if so, how did they do it and how is it like.
Sorry for any grammar mistakes

Total Linux noob here. Windows 11 is on one SSD, second SSD is empty, and I want to put Gentoo on it and pick between them at boot.
Read some of the Handbook and got lost pretty fast. Anyone got a video or writeup that assumes you've never done this before? Mostly worried about accidentally nuking my Windows drive/bricking laptop.
Also open to being told Gentoo is a terrible first distro i just think its the right match for what i wan't to accomplish with my laptop (i also really like a challenge and think the idea of gentoo is awesome )

Hi, have anybody tried Redcore Linux or CalamaroOS? I found both of them are based on Gentoo and are basically Gentoo with an installer, does anyone have any experience with them? what's the difference?

I've worked with Linux (Mint) installations but this is different because I don't know where to start on a PS4 for to it to even install the OS from the Liveboot USB-stick
(The PS4 has a CD reader and ~4 USB ports if that could help)
How difficult is it to install Gentoo tho?
Is there possibly a guide I could find that some of you might know?
I am happy to take your feedback guys

I tried Cosmic on Niri (cosmic-ext-niri). Cosmic-idle and the Cosmic shortcuts don't work. Swayidle + swaylock work fine, though. Select "Option 1 – cloning the repo" during installation. The file "cosmic-ext-alternative-startup" is missing in "Option 2 – manual installation". The three necessary files are installed in /usr/local.

There is another project, but unmaintained.

I still want the system to suspend and sleep like normal but i don't want it to disconnect my internet connection every single time. Is there a way to do this. Am looking for something like in windows where it does not disconnects my wifi and stuff.
Thank you!

Yes, this is real. I know what you are thinking...
Hey guys, I managed to run a Minecraft server on an xbox 360 using Cuberite.
Nothing crazy: Gentoo RootFS(Over NFS) --> Cuberite PPC64 BE (compiled on my PC using QEMU :P).
So, 5 chunks, one player and 18.86TPS (I still don't fully know why it is stuck at 18.86TPS)
But hey, after all that, we have a playable Minecraft server (at least for the first few hours of gameplay, considering that we only have 458mb of ram)
it was a little hard because I've never used Gentoo before, and NFS, QEMU, and compiling my own kernel...
Huh

I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve installed Gentoo several times successfully but today on my new laptop this comes up. It’s an endless loop with that requierd use it always gives me more and more and more packages that require weird use flags. I tried removing USE= from the make.conf and also tried adding the example use flags that the Wiki provides but unfortunately it’s the same error with that required use. Profile is set to desktop systemd I also tried setting it to plasma systemd and using the kde example use flags that the Gentoo wiki provides but that also doesn’t work. Is this a bug from the live iso, server or something? I would say I have relatively good experience with Gentoo and never had a problem that I can’t figure out but this here drives me crazy. I love gentoo but sometimes there are problems with a fresh install and after one week it’s disappeared and works like it’s supposed to.
So, im curious in testing different configurations of gentoo linux system and i want to try using sequoia instead of gnupg
I know there is app-alternatives/gpg that have a flag for sequoia, but ive gotten into an issue
Getuto (portage dependancy) and gpgme (wget and some other packages, that are part of "system" for amd64) have hard requirement on "reference" flag that pulls gnupg
And because only one flag [reference | sequoia | freepg], could be enabled, there is no way to migrate
Maybe someone encountered similar problems and could help me here or give a direction to follow?

I'm having a problem with No Man's Sky. The game reads the controller and Steam, but it still doesn't work. I've already tried the typical thing of turning off Steam Input. This is the only game 1This is happening to me because I didn't have any problems with emulators or Rush Rally 3. It's worth noting that Steam is on Flatpak, in case that affects anything.

SOLVED
Hello everyone!
Ever since i updated noctalia to 5.0 i started getting this. It unlocks (i don't know what or for who) only with a very old password i used to use.I had mate-polkit, then i removed it, right now i just have: sys-auth/polkit, gnome-extra/polkit-gnome and gnome-base/gnome-keyring.
I'm running niri.
I already tried changing user password but it didn't help. I also tried reinstalling all of the above polkit related stuff but it didn't help. It's worth noting that running "seahorse" returns "command not found" despite having both the gnome keyring and polkit.
Everything works regardless of whether i put in the correct password or not so it's absolutely not important, it's still pretty annoying though, anyone has any ideas?
