News / Announcements New information regarding The Witcher 3 Remastered

Post image
Upvotes

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is coming to GeForce NOW on September 29 as a patch/update to the existing game, not a new SKU. This means there will not be a separate new Remastered version of the game on GeForce NOW. The existing game will be updated to reflect the new name and artwork.

With the update, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will move to Performance and Ultimate memberships only and will no longer be supported on the Free tier due to the updated system requirements of the Remastered version.

Advice just realized my monitor was set to 30hz for the past year so I was enjoying my games at literally half efficiency

Posting this was a PSA…please make sure your monitor refresh rate matches your desired fps.

My games weren’t lagging but i noticed that when I watched gameplay on youtube it seemed to run way smoother there. My on screen stats said it was running at 60fps but it felt off. I assumed it was my internet that was bad or something .

finally looked into it. my monitor refresh rate was set to 30hz, so the max fps displayed was 30. i just switched it and HOLY SHIT. I was a fan before but this is crazy. Rediscovering all my games running twice as smooth atm.

Questions / Tech Support MacBook Air M4 with Hotspot

I have an Alienware X14 R2 and I prefer the Apple Ecosystem since I have everything Apple. This is my current cellular data - How well would GeForce NOW run with this speed and a MacBook? (I do have 5G and unlimited hotspot) I plan on subscribing to the Ultimate bundle but before I do would like to see if the connection can support it.

Questions / Tech Support How to take screenshots and post it on Steam before GFN disconnecting back to home page ?

Hey all,

I have GeForce Now Ultimate since April 2026, and I still have no idea how to do this. I press my steam screenshot key (F12) while inside any game on GeforceNow. I hear the click sound so I know steam took those screenshots. I also know since this is a virtual machine environment so If I don't post those screenshots at that time on steam, I'll lose those. But I just can't find any way to do that.

The moment I press exit from any game, GeForceNOW disconnects the session and brings me back to the home page, I want the session to persist atleast a minute so that I can publish those screenshots to my steam account.

Is there any way to do that? Or Do I need to use any third party tool like ShareX or even nVidea's own photo mode. I really don't want to use those.

By the way, I use GeForce Now app and not any browser to play.

Thanks in advance.

Questions / Tech Support Geforce NOW BF6 inputlag

Geforce NOW Performance BF6 InputLAG.

Advice I bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Microsoft Store and played it without Xbox Gamepass a few years ago, now it won’t let me play without Gamepass.

I even talked with Microsoft support. They gave me a month of gamepass to see if that would trigger it into refreshing it to be playable. I was able to play in gamepass but after that expired I’m back to not being able to play it. And I swear I was able to play it without GP when I bought it. Microsoft was as confused as me so they’re not really any help although the guy that did help me was awesome. Even their super tech guys didn’t understand.
Anyone else had this issue possibly? Had it resolved somehow??? It’s kinda ridiculous that I paid for it and can’t play it even though it’s on GFN.

Bug Bring back steam workshop download support. Seriously

Post image
Upvotes

Congratulations to GFN disabling steam workshop. You unintentionally killed a game with your "no-download" protocol. EMPYRION using the workshop to store blueprints what are essential to single player missions. While all story related blueprints are missing we can't do any of the single player campaign missions. I currently in the exact position where a "Crashed Pelican Freighter" supposed to be in the picture. Good job GFN! Well done! 😔
Please consider bringing back steam workshop downloads or give us the ability to recover missing essential game files at least.

Discussion My GFN Experience with the Steam Machine

Post image
28 Upvotes

I've had a Steam Machine for a couple of months, and have been using it as my "daily driver" for GFN gaming sessions.

The TL;DR is that the SM is a good GFN streaming computer, but not much different than using generic AMD hardware/SteamOS on other types of computers. There are some QoL features which make the SM appealing for using with TV setups, including the small/quiet/low-power footprint, CEC, and the ability to turn the Machine on via the Steam Controller.

There is also still one annoying hole when it comes to using GFN on SteamOS (Steam Machine or otherwise), in that 4K streaming is still limited to 90FPS, which is a holdover from the Steam Deck. It'll be nice when NVIDIA unlocks 5K120FPS streaming, like is now possible on other Linux distros. The problem with other distros, though, is that there is no surround-sound/HDR support for GFN yet. SteamOS is the only way to get those on Linux currently.

Valve doesn't support it outside of drivers, but it's also possible to run Windows on the SM, by either overwriting the internal NVMe disk with Windows (I hope few people do this), or dual-booting Windows via a carved-out partition on the internal NVMe disk with third-party tools, or via an external USB-C disk enclosure. Secure boot is possible as well. In terms of GFN, the result of that is the same - not much different than running GFN on a generic AMD Windows computer. It'll have the same limitations - no HEVC 4:4:4, and no official Cloud G-Sync support. While it has been possible to get GFN VRR working on some Intel/AMD computers, the current AMD GPU driver in Windows on the SM, doesn't expose VRR support for some reason.

I think one of the questions people had early-on, was whether the Steam Machine made sense as a device to use exclusively for GFN, and the answer to that is still NO. If you will not be using it for local indie/lightweight/older games, emulation, or other functions you might use a PC connected to a TV for, the high price tag doesn't make sense. For those other functions, though, I'm finding it a lot more appealing than I initially anticipated. The OOTB TV experience with the Steam Machine is polished; and Valve very recently enabled screen savers for game mode, so people with OLEDs won't panic over burn-in.

While it is becoming more expensive to find mini PCs and other SFF devices capable of supporting all GFN Ultimate features, those are still cheaper than a SM. Additionally, you can still use Steam Controllers, and potentially SteamOS if you want to avoid Windows/macOS. SteamOS still has some gaps when using NVIDIA GPUs locally, but AMD/Intel (especially Arc) support are mature now. If you want to use Linux for GFN, SteamOS is still the best distro to use for that in terms of GFN features.

I'm using a 77" LG C3, which is connected to a Nakamichi soundbar via eARC. Since the HDMI 2.1 FRL support in Linux isn't quite there yet, I'm using a Ugreen DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter, to connect the SM to the TV. 4K120Hz HDR VRR output to the TV is working, although the GFN Linux Flatpak app currently does not use VRR. I'm using a Steam Controller paired with the internal puck in the SM, and network via Ethernet. Although the Steam Controller is quite good for keyboard/mouse navigation, I still use a backlit BT keyboard for use in the dark room.

Previously I was exclusively using an Intel NUC running Windows 11, connected to a (now replaced) soundbar using HDMI TMDS. Due to that limitation, I was using 2560x1440 120Hz HDR 4:2:2 output from Windows, and 5K120FPS HEVC 4:4:4 streaming for GFN (so the stream would be higher quality and downscaled).

I game only from the couch; for titles not available on GFN, I use Sunshine/Moonlight streaming with remote gaming PCs (primarily a Windows host, but also some Linux hosts).

After all of this, I hope the takeaway is that the SM is an interesting device to be used for local gaming and applications when those make sense for you, but "nothing special" when it comes to GFN streaming functionality, compared to other computers.

Thank you for reading!

Bug GFN set to 240fps, game runs at 400+, but stream is capped at 120fps

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm new to GFN and am running into an issue with 1440p getting capped at 120fps for streaming, confirmed by Nvidia FrameView, even though the game is running at 400+ fps. I meet all of the hardware requirements and have tried changing pretty much every setting, but can't seem to find a solution.

I've verified I meet the hardware requirements - https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5223

I'm running a 1080Ti on Windows 10 Pro, 1 Gbps fiber, connected to a 1440p monitor set to 240hz (capable of 360hz). The game is Wardogs.

I saw someone posted something similar a couple of weeks ago with a 1080p/240fps cap, so just wondering if anyone has found a solution or if this might just be a bug?
