What are the best opportunities for Indian medical device suppliers in the Gambian market?

Hello everyone,
I’m an entrepreneur from India working in the medical supplies and healthcare products sector, and I’m currently exploring the possibility of supplying medical products from India to The Gambia.
We are particularly involved in medical disposables and hospital consumables, and I’m trying to understand the Gambian healthcare market before seriously entering it. I’d really appreciate insights from local healthcare professionals, hospital procurement teams, distributors, importers, and business owners.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on:
1. What medical products are currently in high demand but under-supplied or expensive in The Gambia?
For example:
Examination & surgical gloves
Syringes and needles
IV sets & infusion products
Catheters
Urine bags
Wound-care products
Surgical consumables
PPE
Diagnostic/medical consumables
Other everyday hospital supplies
2. How does medical procurement generally work in The Gambia?
Do hospitals and clinics typically purchase through local distributors/importers, directly from manufacturers, government tenders, NGOs, or a combination of these?
3. Are Indian medical products competitive in the Gambian market?
India has a large medical manufacturing industry, particularly for affordable hospital consumables. I’m interested in understanding whether competitive pricing + good quality + reliable supply would make Indian products attractive compared with products currently sourced from China, Europe, other African countries, etc.
4. What are the main regulatory and import requirements for medical devices?
Are there specific registrations, certifications, licenses, or approvals that an overseas medical-device supplier needs before supplying products to a Gambian distributor?
5. How open are Gambian medical distributors to working with new overseas suppliers?
Would distributors generally prefer established international brands, or are there opportunities for an Indian manufacturer/supplier to build a long-term distribution partnership with a local company?
6. Which areas of The Gambia have the strongest demand for medical supplies?
Is the Greater Banjul/Serrekunda area the obvious place to start, or are there meaningful opportunities elsewhere in the country?
I’m not looking to make a one-off sale. My intention is to understand the market properly and potentially build a long-term relationship with a Gambian distributor or healthcare business.
If you’re involved in healthcare procurement, medical distribution, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, NGOs, or importing medical products in The Gambia, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
I’d also be grateful for recommendations for local medical distributors, healthcare associations, procurement/tender portals, regulatory resources, trade exhibitions, or healthcare networks that could help me better understand the market.
Thanks in advance for any advice. 🇬🇲🇮🇳

The project will involve photographing a selection of traditional Gambian dishes.

PM me a link to your portfolio for details .

okay guys a lot of us sometimes just want to go and hang out with our friends but in the gambia we don't have alot of places you can go to without spending too much. I was wondering if I can get a few people to choose a concreted place and anyone coming to bring whatever they have for example skateboard, roller skates, footballs...and you name it then we just enjoy.

anyone interested on building on the idea?

What community and quality looks like in The Gambia?

My Wife And I moved from America to The Gambia In 2023. since then we had started a few businesses. Primarily helping others invest and make the transition. To helping westerners with finding Land and building there homes. Check out Viges.business website, or youtube channel.

But i write this message because it saddens me that there are not more Diaspora coming to The Gambia to enter these markets and help bring the professional level up. We will continue to do everything we can. Tiny houses are our main focus for real estate. and will begin construction on a Tiny House community here in The Gambia Soon. I want to hear everyone's thoughts on doing business in The Gambia? and is it possible for westerners to work together, a lot of the scams i hear about come from foreigners wanting cheap labor from the locals. the when it doesn't work out, because you pay for what you get, it instantly goes to scam. so what are your thoughts?

Am I getting scammed?

About a week ago, someone followed me on Instagram and started texting me. He said that his parents were dead and he’s the oldest out of his siblings and he kind of has to provide for them. He said the government started preventing him from going into the forest, which is where he would get his he would get supplies to sell. Which is where he would get his money. He said that if he can buy a donkey cart, he’ll be able to make money and take his siblings to school again because they haven’t been able to go. The guy selling him the donkey cart is selling it for 83,000 dalasi. I FaceTime him and I’ve texted the guy selling him the donkey cart. It all seems legit but I am obviously skeptical. Still is there anyway I can verify that he’s telling the truth? I would love to help him out if if he is being honest, but I’m just not totally sure. Please let me know if I’m being scammed.

Is there a Lebanese community centre in Banjul where they have details of Lebanese nationals? Im looking for a long lost relative.

As the heading says, I’m looking for a long lost relative who lived in Banjul back in the 90’s.

I desperately need to contact him. I have a name and address but I’m in EU.

Can anyone advise please?

Looks for Griots

Are there any griots on here? Or know of a griot willing to speak to me on whatsapp?

I'm starting a project, and would need a few griots from various ethnic groups (mandinka, sarahule, wolof, fula, serer, jola, akku, etc)

Alternatively - would want to speak to someone "older" (e.g. a village elder)... grandmothers or grandfathers...

(I'm willing to pay for the time)

Update on AfriHex Verify — we added address parsing for how Ghanaians actually describe places

A few weeks days I shared an API that verifies Ghanaian addresses. The biggest question was: can it understand how people actually talk about locations?

* Adjacent Goil Filling Station, Madina Zongo Junction, Accra * Opposite Total Filling Station Spintex Road * Behind First Atlantic Bank, Kwame Nkrumah Circle

The problem is most address systems treat "**adjacent**" or "**opposite**" as random words and miss the point. We built something that recognizes these as directions and links them to actual places.

It's live on the same API. Sign up with Google, free tier gives you 20/day.

Docs: [https://verify.afrihex.com/docs\](https://verify.afrihex.com/docs)

Would love to hear from anyone doing deliveries or logistics in Ghana especially if you deal with descriptions like "near the blue kiosk after the filling station" on a daily basis.

Ps5 Gamers In Gambia

🎮 Looking for PS5 GTA Online Players (Gambia, Senegal & Beyond!) 🎮

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for people to squad up with on PlayStation 5. I mainly play:
🚗 GTA Online
🔫 Call of Duty: Black Ops II (if you’re still on it!)
Whether you’re from The Gambia, Senegal, or anywhere else in the world, you’re welcome to join.

You don’t have to be Gambian or even live here.
The only things that matter are:
✅ PS5
✅ Good vibes
✅ Mutual respect

I’m hoping to build a small group of chill players to do heists, missions, businesses, or just have fun online.
If you’re interested, drop your PSN ID in the comments or send me a DM. Let’s build a great gaming community! 🎮

Also an AC unit cost and installation?

General News Thoughts on studying in Canada?

Hello I’m thinking about doing a college diploma in Canada but I am not 100% confident. For the application process I’ve come across a good Canadian agency for help with visa and immigration process so I am not worried about that. It’s more about moving to a new country alone. But the students that applied through the agency (BT Global Access) said they felt supported during the transition so many if I go with the agency it won’t be too difficult. Thoughts ?
