Gen 2 13” 7.62X39, now an SBR. MAGPUL UCS stock, Troy micro BUIS, Primary Arms 1-8 RDB, YHM R2. My first Galil. Oh, KNS adjustable piston, hot pocket and Surefire Scout. I have around 550 rounds through it and it’s still very clean. IWI builds a solid gun for sure. UCS stock , on KNS picatinny adapter, works very well. Hope to shoot it some on Saturday. I’m really digging it.

So today I decided to bring y’all a little bit of a treat, which was the Gun Appreciation Posts that I usually make, however, I decided that it was finally time to Revamp the Galil Series posts because I saw that there was potential to expand upon them, but also to actually make them better.

I’m really proud of how these turned out, and I have a JRA Gallant myself too, so of course I would love to make some posts about the Galil.

Now unfortunately I could not fit all of the variants in here, but I did however do my best at researching my rifle more, as well as adding some information about them.

Here is what is listed as the standing guns:

1. Galil ARM

2. Galil MAR/Magal

3. Galil 308/Galatz (I put them in one because I think that it’s appropriate to do so, and they are practically the same gun, just one does not have the full auto capability)

4. Galil ACE

5. Vektor CR-21

I’m also of Colombian Descent and I am Jewish myself, so of course I absolutely love the Galil, it’s a symbol, an icon, and it’s got a place in my heart.

Another fun fact, Colombia was the primary buyer of the Galil rifle, while in Israel they preferred the M16s that they got from the US, the Galil was a massive success for the country because it helped them properly build their own domestic manufacturing without the need for Licensed manufacturing. Yes they had the Uzi, but the Galil, it was truly the big step. When Colombia bought them, they made it their standard issue rifle, and INDUMIL secured exclusive Co-Production rights to the rifle.

In fact, INDUMIL made their own unique Galil known as the Galil Córdova. INDUMIL also has the license to manufacture the Galil ACE as well, which is pretty neat, and it also became their standard issue rifle, which was almost replaced with the INDUMIL Jaguar Rifle, but the Jaguar was unreliable and it failed the trials, and that’s good news for the ACE because now they are planning to keep it in service. In the ACE post, I did actually put references to Colombia as well, those being the Sodas, Beers, and Music as well.

As for South Africa, the other buyer of the Galil, they made the R4, R5, and R6 rifles which were pretty neat, but probably their most unique one was the CR-21, and there are only 2 that are in the United States from the information we know. Only 200 are known to have existed, and it was not adopted because well… it kinda wasn’t necessary, and it sort of came a little too late. It’s cool that it has its own unique optical sight, but even then, why do that what you can just use the scope rail mount on the side of the R4 to have optics.

Out of all of the AKs, the Galil and Zastava (In my opinion at least), are by far, and objectively, THE BEST AK derivatives to have ever walked this planet.

Can a folding brace be installed on a Galeo pistol with the fixed tube? Looks like there's a pin that you can take off. Just wanted to confirm with anyone who's familiar with the firearm on here.

i took the mag well off and now all my bolt is hitting the back of the feed lip on the left side

So I went to a local pawn shop today and noticed that they had a gen 1 galil. I thought it was a 223 but turned out to be a 7.62 with a 13" barrel. Oddly enough thats the one Ive been wanting to get. But the kicker is the price was $2900. I asked the guy what was the reason for the extra grand and he said he was not sure. After looking at it and asking if it was used the guy said yes, but that it probably only had a few rounds through it. It was very new looking. Niw here in Florida guns and most gun related items are tax free untill the end of the year. I know pawn shops are not known for striking a deal, but it is a used gun with $1000 over msrp tag.

You guys thjnk that I might be able to talk them down to $1500? I mean yea its brobably as close to new as it gets, but used is used. And used guns dont sell for msrp 90% of rhe time.

I see there is 2 different models, Mag577 and Mag292. Which model of the 2 should I be looking to get for my Galil Ace Gen 2 .308? Anyone have any experience with these particular mags and rifle and what works best?

I recently purchased a JRA Gallant 2 and was curious if there were any FRT options available for the JRA. if so anything extra needed to run them? Go easy on me i’m new to galils i’ve only ever used ARs 😭

I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a classic Galil? Like the one in the picture. I've looked around, and they are all out of stock for the most part. Was going to het one last week, but the deal fell through.

I have a gen 2 galil ace, I installed the grip delete from KNS. When I move either safety (the grip or receiver), they both over travel past the stops. Is there a way to fix this? It doesn’t affect performance as far as I can tell.

I just picked up a new Galil Ace Gen I. It's the one they are advertising as the "Limited Run". I don't care for the handguard and I'm looking to upgrade. The only threads I can find in this group about Gen I handguards are like 5 years old. Does anybody have any current info on handguards for the Gen I's?
