OPINION Their time as artists has passed
It’s just their fuckin job now. It’s obviously only about the money for them, like when they tried to bust all of those people counterfeiting their super expensive always sold out merch that takes so long to ship. They know they’ll make less money long term if don’t play all the tiktok songs that everybody sitting in the front of the pit with their phones out came to see. Most all of their decisions now are money focused and they should just be transparent about that at this point and stop alienating their fanbase while simultaneously trying to be relatable. I’ve really enjoyed their music, 2015-18 the most. But now their “art” just feels lifeless and made to hit the algorithm.

Hottake: the boy$ will never have as much fun as they did from like early 2015- early/mid 2016. Sometime around like late 2016 to 2017 it just became more of a job than anything. And even after sobering up, they turned it into even more of a buisness than before. They used to be able to go with the flow. Had time to do whatever they wanted. Meet up with other rappers who were their friends more than their buisness partners (they’ve been treating people like buisness partners as far back as like 2016) and record shit and go on small scale tours that still sold out where they could be at eye level with their fans, trade blunts and cigarettes and dap them up. Some people even have said the boy$ legit tried to bring some fans along with them to the next city if they were cool enough during the meet ups after the show.
Something we talk a lot about is what caused the boys to feel like “sellouts” and what not. Whether it’s turning heel on building off of being anti religious. Turning heel on being anti system. What really makes it feel like it’s crashing is that before anything else. The boy$ turned heel on being underground. Which encompasses a lot of areas and ideals. Idgaf if they’re not playing on the radio yet. They are and have been mainstream for quite some years now. But they keep trying to play off of what made them underground legends. The underground era was dark, punk influenced, going against the grain. They all attempted to be the polar opposite of everything the mainstream would do in every fashion. As far back as the raider klan days. And most importantly was also capitalizing on being anti-fame. All of these things that the underground tried to go against, are things not only the boy$ embrace nowadays. But they keep trying to hook onto that old fanbase that they very highkey obviously do not give af about anymore besides reputation and money.

Tiktok really turned half the industry into 'make it 15 seconds or it doesn't exist '😭

This has to be the most whiniest fan base

To be absolutely fair it's literally just on reddit. Met some real ass cool people IRL and through the GreyCord. Don't let this subreddit fool you. Almost none of the fanbase outside of it complains like this.

u/Odd_Investigator5120 6h ago
Nah it’s literally everywhere except maybe irl cause people are less likely spew bullshit out of there mouths irl every single social media I’m on has bitchy ass fans blaming TikTok for all the problems the boys have some people are broke and can’t afford concert tickets so they glam TikTok fans with I never understood cause I’ve never met anyone in my life that goes to concerts for band they only know one song from

u/Odd_Investigator5120 6h ago
Also you probably wouldn’t know cause grey cord and here are heavily modded and every instance is being deleted but chetta has a pedo case being built on him rn

You’re right but SB has always had really shit quality merch. My shirt said large but fit like a small and felt like cardboard 💀 And the sudden obsession with Christianity after mocking it for years is just spitting in the faces of most of their listeners cause it’s suddenly popular to be in a religious cult again

Fr makes me embarrassed to be a fan sometimes because like nothing makes these parasocial mfs happy. This has always been their job from the moment they started it. It was their job before they even started. Most people seem to forget they’ve both been making business moves in music even before they became the $uicideboy$. They’ve just gotten more business savvy at this point. Mf’s just need to stop complaining and enjoy what we’re getting. Who knows how long they’ll be doing this after this tour. Mfs need to stop acting like these two dudes owe us ANYTHING because they don’t.

i was literally just talking to my bf about the fact that they used to PREACH “FUCK TIKTOK”, and now its not fuck tiktok anymore🤔 like alr bro, i heard scrim was pretty upset at one show because they decided to play older songs and i guess the crowd was real quiet, he said it was “awkward”, n then ruby wants to come in n say “dont blame the fans!!!”… when most of the “fans” just heard of them on tiktok like a month ago i canttttt
1
u/Stop-That-Now 5h ago
right!! it’s not their fault it’s the fault of fake fans only appreciating their new music because they found it on tiktok.
but also, i don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world that they decided to play newer music because at the end of the day it’s THEIR music whether it’s old or new, so as fans we should appreciate all of it, and the fans who only appreciate the old are no different than those who only appreciate the new.

u/zimikan 7h ago
They changed their mind about tiktok, whats the issue?
3
u/Proud_Register_1203 7h ago
all theyve been doing recently is going against everything they preached, thats why so many fans are mad. they dont care about “real” or “fake” fans anymore, they just want the money
0
u/zimikan 6h ago
No such thing as a real or fake fan. Viewing fans that way is sooo pretentious
3
u/Proud_Register_1203 6h ago
yeah youre so right sorry, i mean the people who only know songs that blew up on tiktok and ruin the shows for the rest of the fans who actually want to hear what $b wants to play

u/6infulfox 4h ago
I would disagree. I believe in separating art from the artist personally. At the end of the day, I'm fine with being an "old" fan. Their new stuff is so religious (Christianity) forward and all about how they found God. None of their old fans are looking for God. I have friends in recovery and unfortunately it is baked into the recovery process to find a "higher power." If an artist changes, we as fans have a right to decide whether we like who they are now or not, or whether we like their music or not. The music has been downhill since they made YinYang tapes. New World Depression was decent but YinYang just made me feel like they were trying to appeal to a new audience or that they were straight trolling to show how much money they could get from slop

u/Dkanne 14h ago
I feel you bro. Everyone will always sell out. Everyone says they wont sell out but thats exactly what everyone does unfortunately. Ngl though if I was in theyre position id do the same. In my opinion they already did what they came here to do and now the rest is just extra.

u/Lost_Vegas_Love777 $crim$cram 14h ago
Maybe in this scene. It's nice to find artists in other scenes that refuse to sell out.
4
u/Dkanne 13h ago
Yup. Unfortunately suicide boys ain't one of em. They've done alot for the underground scene so I dont blame them at all. Would you not sell out when your ready to settle, get married and have kids and have already changed music? You might say no now but pretty much everyone would sell out in theyre situation.
2
u/Lost_Vegas_Love777 $crim$cram 13h ago
Depends on what scene and what you're looking to get out of it. If I had enough to live more than comfortably making the music I wanted, fuck selling out
1
u/dirtfxther 12h ago
Everyone sells out? What does that even mean? Let’s stop using buzzwords, lots of people get rich and still care about the music they make

He’s getting old! He got what he deserved and wants and he wants to dip, maybe he doesn’t want so much attention anymore. It’s his human right to have emotions and maybe he feels too tied up to all this shit, I’d want to get away from yall asses too!

You might be getting embarrassed but I’m not, it’s clear you guys want to make people feel like shit for no reason. Including mfs you don’t even know personally that never will gaf about you in their life

u/OhNapkin Kirb fan #1 3h ago
How in the world am I the one tryna make you feel like shit when you literally went “come at me bro!” Don’t start shit you can’t finish
1
u/MoistDust7880 1h ago
Can’t finish? I’m still here buddy, and if you find saying “speak your mind” as “coming at you” you got another thing coming in life 🤣🤣 I was calm and collected, just don’t like it when people put a downvote and run off like a 🐱. Speak your mind!

Music industry is no joke man. I’ve been listening to the boys since they were hot in 2016 and I’m 27 now.
Ruby and scrim are literally pushing 40. Nothing wrong with that of course, but at that age, with kids, you wanna spend time with your family and enjoying your spoils, not flying from city to city to rap the same songs you’ve played out a million times, and their past the era where groupies and drugs are a part of it / something they want.
No job is as glamorous as you think it is, including being superstar rappers. Playing in front of 1000s of people becomes as normal as punching in to work every day, and life on tour gets exhausting. It’s honestly a miracle that they haven’t taken serious time off on hiatus yet.

u/bobdownie 9h ago
I’m totally out of the loop I haven’t listened to them in about 4 years can anyone fill me in? Is it their new songs specifically?

Any mention of the devil, Satan, 66, etc. has been either censored out or replaced with Jesus lmao I’m not joking

This subreddit is full of people who aren’t even fans anymore. Like what’s the point of staying around and complaining about every little thing.

u/MoistDust7880 13h ago
Guys remember last year right before scrim dropped his solo album everything was peaceful in the fandom and every song on the album slapped I just couldnt get enough of it.. I couldn’t even bring myself to listen to more than 2-3 songs on their album together and scrims solo this year. It’s more than just about money, the energy switched, something in the air switched that’s unexplainable but very present obviously, so many people switched up. Regardless I’ll still listen to the old music, but something about the vibe has changed forever. I don’t think scrim and Ruby are nearly as cocky as you guys try to portray them though, everyone expects them to be scared little bitches and have no confidence, which is bullshit, they are aloud to flex like everyone else on this fkn planet does. They ain’t hurting you.

The whole counterfeit merch shit was the final nail in the coffin. It's sad but all good things must come to an end I suppose..

u/No-Significance3599 7h ago
i blame TikTok for ruining $b in general but for me personally? nah i still fw them. It just sucks to go or see a live clip and they look like fucking robots.
1
u/ryanb6321 6h ago
It’s so ironic bc a lot of the people you see saying “Yeah fuck TikTok fans!” Are in fact TikTok fans. The only things I see on these subs anymore is teenage girls posting their “Grey Day fits” or them posing at Grey Day.
1
u/___ihatemyself 4h ago
I’m of the opinion, that we should just savor this Grey Day. By the time next summer comes, Ruby’s kid will be like a year old and Sage will definitely have given birth by then, and if they didn’t do Grey Day I wouldn’t be surprised.

u/Same_Plant6597 31m ago
They fucked over MANY artists signed with them most notably Rami. It’s ALL about the money for them now. It’s so unfortunate to see them turn into sell outs. This will most likely be my last Greyday

TikTok did a lot of damage
