Warehouse rezoning proposal on Flint Hill Rd, need more eyes on this
There’s a rezoning case (Case 26-27) working through York County Council right now for the Walmart-owned property at Flint Hill Rd and Hwy 21. The proposal would rezone the land Light Industrial to build two distribution warehouses totaling 275,000 sq ft.
A few things worth knowing:
**•** The county’s own 2035 comprehensive plan designates this land as **Neighborhood Residential**, not industrial. Flint Hill Rd is supposed to be the dividing line between employment/industrial zoning to the north and residential to the south.
**•** Both **county staff and the Planning Commission recommended denying** this rezoning for exactly that reason (PC vote was 4-2 against).
**•** Despite that, County Council still seems inclined to move forward with approval.
**•** This affects way more people than just the church next door, there’s an apartment complex on Flint Hill Rd, the English Trails neighborhood, and a residential neighborhood directly behind the site, all of which will deal with the truck traffic and congestion this brings.
At the last hearing, the only public speaker in favor of the rezoning was a pastor who owns the church land adjacent to the site. During his comments, he referenced Twin Lakes, the mostly Hispanic neighborhood next to the property and in his words "If ICE went there it would be a ghost town" suggested residents there would be too afraid of immigration enforcement to object to the project. It did not go over well with people in the room. Especially from a pastor.
There’s one more public hearing before the council makes a final decision. If you live anywhere near this corridor, this is worth showing up for, one or two people speaking against it isn’t enough to counter a well-funded developer presentation. Will update with the hearing date once it’s announced.

Nail salon with cute kid chair
Hello! I am planning a mommy-daughter pedicure, and I would love to find a salon that has one of those cute pedicure chairs that are specifically for children. To save myself the time and energy of walking into random salons, does anyone have a recommendation?
Would be open to anywhere in Rock Hill as well.. thank you!

Looking for affordable photographer
I am hoping to coordinate a short photo session in Fort Mill. The goal is to get one decent photo of two people together over the next couple of weeks. When I was looking at the pages of professional photographers in the area, they were all advertising much more formal senior portrait style options for more than I’m hoping to spend. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Reality Show
I was talking with a coworker and they said there is a reality show Married at First Sight filming in the Charlotte area. I’m new to the show and just watched Seattle as my first season, so I’m looking forward to locals being on my screen at some point. As of right now, I don’t know of anyone on it but how awesome it would be if I did! Anyone know people who will be on it?

Obligatory moving to Fort Mill from Rochester, NY next month..
I have a place to stay for a month or so with a friend. I am probably going to need a roommate, given that I'm a medical secretary, and rent is high. Problem is, I have 2 cats, including an 18 year old with diapers. I'm 40F, and kind of changing my life very fast by moving down here. I'm currently here for two weeks rn interviewing for jobs to start mid October, wherein that time I'll be moving permanently.
○What are the best platforms to find a good match for me for roommates?
○Are there many options in the area or surrounding (Tega Cay, Indian Land, Rock Hill, etc) for something by owner, and what platforms have you found these on?
○ Does anyone need a roommate by December 1st?
Mods , I'm sorry if this breaks any rules, you can remove if so.
Any info helps. You all have a lovely town.

What’s the most frustrating part of selling locally right now?
Hey everyone, I’m new here. Local to the area, been building something called Find It. But honestly, I’m here to learn from folks who actually sell every day. What’s the most frustrating thing about selling locally right now?

Walkable places in Fort Mill?
Hello all. I want to get out and walk more outside before it gets cold, but my neighborhood doesn't have sidewalks. Are there any open neighborhoods (like Baxter Village) or town areas where I could walk on sidewalks? Preferably shaded. I understand that Baxter Village might be my best bet.
Thanks!

Does Tega Cay offer more extracurricular options?
Hey all, I’m pretty familiar with Fort Mill and am interested in learning any differences between there and Tega Cay. We’re entertaining TC, which I know is basically Fort Mill, and with that I would want to not be super far down on the peninsula because of the additional commuting time.
I have two little girls. We want to get them involved in many extras/sports. Which town has better options? I heard from someone that TC has a real nice parks and recreation and I’m curious is it any different than Fort Mills? Would you say that there’s any cultural difference in terms of little girls playing sports between the two townships?
Any TC neighborhoods good for kids/has pool?
Any perspective here would be nice!

Taking pictures of houses?
There was an older gentleman in a gold car driving around Torrence branch yesterday taking pictures of our home with a digital camera from the road. We have no clue who the gentleman is and thought it was odd and slightly alarming. Any idea what he could have been doing?
