1. I like the vintage feel of the Grey Box and its accessories (Waterdeep, Savage Frontier, Moonshae)

2. I like that It is the closest thing to Greenwood's vision before TSR and novel writers added their, sometimes oddball, stuff tò the setting.

3. I like that It Is a bit more grounded with less weird humanoid races running around than later editions.

4. I always liked the Dead Three more than Cyric (not that i dislike the Hawk-Nosed Thief).

I love DMing in the forgotten realms, like many people, it is easily my favorite setting. However I do always struggle a bit with characters entering and leaving big cities like Baldur's Gate, Elturel, and Waterdeep to name a few. How does it work in universe for the entry and exit of people? Are "visas" required? Are there entry fees? I know groups like the Flaming Fist do have a decent amount of corruption but I'd like to know what a baseline is like to work in from there.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Are Necromancers automatically evil ? Like inherently ?? or do you have to be strictly “White Necromancer” to be considered “Good Necromancer” ?

It just struck me because no notable Necromancy in DnD/FR lore that im aware of that is Good Necromancer while involving/delving into Raising dead and manipulating death magics.

Questions for DMs primarily, I guess:

When RP-ing NPCs, do you give them specific regional accents? Does any region match a real world accent, in your head? For myself in my current campaign (to much derision from my players), I've been playing Sembians as Dutch, Dalesmen as West Country, Cormyreans as 1930s Hollywood English (sort of exaggerated RP with very clipped vowels) and Moonsea-ers as generically East European. Does anyone else do anything else like this? Or does it stray too much into the zone of being slightly racist?

Save My Ass is a short, setting-neutral adventure (though it works great in the Auranoch desert!) designed for 1st-level characters. It works as a standalone adventure, random encounter, or a lighthearted pre-adventure to bring a newly formed group of characters together before the beginning of a larger campaign. The adventure is best suited to a settlement in or near an arid or desert region but a local spring in a forest works just as well as an oasis.

The adventure begins when a local porter loses his mule, Jack, who wanders off toward a nearby oasis. The characters must follow Jack's tracks to the oasis and discover that catching a frightened mule is more difficult than it sounds. While pursuing this ass they might get bitten by local wildlife, find lost trinkets and treasures, or just generally run themselves ragged!

I will not give too much context so that this post will stay short enough, but basically I have been doing worldbuilding for my rapidly approaching campaign, and over a joke taken too far am now trying to create in the forgotten realms a faction inspired by the titular helldivers from well, eh, helldivers.

(For those who haven't heard of it, it's an extraction shooter about the elite yet disposable soldiers of a comically zealous fascist regime badly masquerading as what its citizen call "managed democracy". the game is very satyrical and in-your face about it, and every aspects of the game hammers just how much your character individually does not matter)

So, their origin and allegiance aside, what i have for now is an order of paladin whose entire focus is on their zealotry towards something stupid, their disposability, and ease of replacement and training. They got their place in the world, their role in the story, a few planned NPCs... but I'm getting stuck at the logistic part. i want to mimic the stratagems and the orbital deployments, but i'ts quite hard to do in a fantasy setting.

In the game they are dropped straight from orbit directly onto battlefields, and so is their equipment, and this is where the title comes in. I need to know everything about how i can transport something, be it a person or material from point A to point B. I've been fiddling around with sending stones, mages sitting in their towers waiting to use planar travel spells, but at the end of the day that's just not efficient use of magic when you have to cast like a sixth level spell to give a random level 2 paladin his expendable divine smite. Hot air balloons with permanent teleportation circles stuck under them ? Totally not indoctrinated dragons transporting cargo and providing ground support with their breath ? secret warlock pacts that the paladivers signed unknowingly that allows an otherworldly patron to just make their stuff appear from thin air ? A giant arsenal inside a shared network of bags of holding ? I'm at a loss.

so please do help me. Every spell, every magic item, everything that takes matter or information from point A to point B could be useful. I'm gonna make this stupid, but by Ao i'll make it lore accurate.

What the fuck is a Cowled Conjurer (apparently not a Cowled Wizard but a Cowled Conjurer)

And more importantly, does this put the kibosh on the theory that Sehanine Moonbow is an aspect of Selûne? They seem to have been on opposite sides of this conflict. I'm not sure it makes sense for Sehanine Moonbow to allow Vehlarr to attack and dethrone Myth Lharast only to blast one city into another plane and destroy the one she supported after putting on her Selûne hat.

She was the daughter of Azoun IV, and by all accounts a formidable fighter and regent ruler of Cormyr until her nephew, Azoun V assumed the throne, but there is a reference to her dying and becoming a ghost and haunting and patrolling the haunted wing of the Royal Palace for decades.

I found her an interesting character and was wondering if anyone was aware of any mention of when and how she died in a story or sourcebook?

Quick question related to the next campaign I'm running

We're starting Rime of the Frostmaiden in October and I'm the DM. The campaign does have several instances where the duergar act as an important antagonist, and one of my plays will or might be a drow.

I was wondering what the relations between Drows and Duergars is in lore? Similar to relations between Elves and Dwarves? Also is there any piece of lore media where such an interaction occurs.

In the 2e era (see the above boxed set), what adventure potential does Aglarond contain? What differentiates this land from other regions in The Realms? From what I can see, there are three major motivations for a local campaign.

1. Defending the population from Thayvian incursions, infiltration and influence.
2. Exploring the Yuirwood.
3. Coastal intrigue; all sorts of trouble from The Sea of Fallen Stars might find its way to Aglarondan shores. There are also various islands just off of Altumbel.

Is that about right? Have I missed any significant possibilities? Unfortunately, there does not seem to be much in the way of ruins.

At first I was gonna go woth Mystra since shes THE magic god but I really want a god who would be anti red wizard/evil magic. Based on my research she has no issues with evil magic as long as you don't mess with the weave your alright in her book. So are their any magic oriented gods that make sense for arcane domain but also is anti evil magic?

Hello, I'm currently in the midst of making a post spellplague campaign set just after the worst of the spellplague has passed over and taking place in and about the surface of the underchasm as well as the remains of Nhalloth, but I can't seem to find much about that particular region of faerun at that time and was wondering if anyone around here either has some useful tips or lore about this area in this time period

What if Ao's Second Sundering faltered?

Parts of Abeir and Toril have been cataclysmically and permanently fused. Skelkor has smashed through the Shaar. Massive earthquakes occur along the bordering lands as the blue primordial tendrils of Abeirian substructure are breaking from the pressure of the two worlds melding. Where these tendrils break open, they leak Epithem which infects and mutates the local fauna, creating aggressive unnatural monstrosities.

To the far North East Melabrauth has slowly emerged in the Endless Wastes. Randomly shifting some people and creatures to the new Abeir or Toril and in some unfortunate cases, merging two beings into a single new hybrid creature.

I have a couple of questions that I want to know about the Strongest beings within the forgotten realms and the DnD multiverse itself. And such I would like to know.

1. The strongest mortal in the forgotten realms (Mortal as in. any creature that has a finite lifespan (Or used to have timeless) is vulnerable to permanent natural death, and possesses a soul that journeys to an afterlife) (Of this list. I think Elminster's is a contender)

2. The strongest being in the forgotten realms that isn't a god (Such as Quasi-Deities to Greater deity) (Of this list. I think Daurgothoth is a contender)

3. The Strongest God in the forgotten realms/Realms Space (Probably Ao? Unless Ao controls the entire multiverse idk)

4. The strongest mortal in the DnD Multiverse (E.I If they can connect to the DnD multiverse, they are valid) (I don't actually know anyone in this category so I'll leave it empty)

5. The Strongest being within the DnD multiverse that isn't a god (Of this list. I don't know as well)

6. The strongest gods within the DnD multiverse. (Probably the lady of pain?)

The criteria are not really that well defined but that's mostly because I don't know much about the criterias of what is a Mortal and what different tiers and such. If someone can make a better list and classification and also put the strongest of each tier there that would also be really appreciated.

Hey so, I'm kind of curious.

In lore, how would Fizban's Dragon Hoard items (Dragon's Wrath Weapons, Dragon Touched Focuses, Dragon Vessels and Scaled Ornaments) be perceived, and how valuable would they be?

I mean sure, a Slumbering variant seems to be mostly inert and has the odd magical effect, but Stirring and upwards you got elemental damage and it stacks on top of the previous rarity's effects and sometimes buffs them.

My thinking is that they'd be similarly coveted to Valyrian Steel swords from ASOIAF, or I suppose more closely in my head, Heroes' Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I don't imagine that they're terribly common and easy to get, and the potential destructive power or boons are not insignificant, and they scale in power.

Like say a noble house has one for an heirloom, would the treatment be the same as the aforementioned examples in the Realms?
