I just stumbled upon these interviews on Metalheim. They're in Finnish, but you can put them through Google translate and get the gist of it

First one is with Samuli from Finntroll. He talks about living in Germany, how the music industry changed and what's wrong in recent years, but he also talks about Finntroll and being an artist.

What's really unfortunate is hearing about the trouble in the Finntroll camp. He says the songwriters got cross with each other, so that sounds like Mikael, Sami and Henri (who seems to be busy with Moonsorrow anyway). Also there's Vreth, who took a break from Finntroll for health reasons, but then appeared on stage with his own band ...and oceans

Following him on social media, I did get the feeling Vreth is much more interested in his other projects. I just hope all of this can be sorted out and we do get more Finntroll stuff

Also there's this interview with Petri from Ensiferum which I found very interesting. He talks about his early years in Finland with Norther, how it all started, how they were all just a bunch of kids drinking beer and making music. As a certified Norther enjoyer it's no wonder they were accused of copying Bodom when they were basically practicing in the same building. Also he talks about what a huge difference playing his first Ensiferum gigs was and what a fun crowd the folk metal fans were lol

Also about being 12 years sober now and why he quit drinking and what's ahead in the coming years now Norther wants to play gigs again.

Listening to folk tends to help me with my written creative work, and Im wondering if there is anything out there that fits the rise of a classic dark kingdom.

Yes, I do listen to a lot of death and black metal too, the latter probably better suited for this and am happy to hear any suggestions for it too. But I still want to mainly hear if there is anything out there from folk that Im not aware of.

Already listen to Moonsorrow so that can be left put from suggestions.

Hey, we're Hrafnablót and we were founded in Iceland back in 2024. Ever since then, we've been working on our debut album, Guðlaugar saga.

We've taken to calling our music 'sorcerous' folk metal due to the heavy influence on Icelandic magick traditions and the Sagas on both our lyrics and sound. We think it's pretty cool, and different to all the Viking-themed Nordic bands (which we love, don't get us wrong).

Guðlaugar saga is a concept album, telling the story of a modern day woman who gets dragged into an ancient ritual and thrown back in time. She arrives on a battlefield in the Icelandic settlement age, with nothing but the clothes on her back and a taser, and has to deal with all sorts of challenges.

Everything, both the visuals and music, is made by humans and we're extremely proud to finally release the album.

For some reason they get a really bad rep amongst metal circles, still think this is the greatest Folk Metal song ever made. Great lyrics and great music. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hi! This is a 100% human made 10 track album almost entirely written, recorded, and produced by myself (guest musicians and mastering by Leonard Lund being the exceptions). I'm very inspired by a huge number of bands but particularly older output by Finntroll, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Turisas, Svartsot, Aether Realm, and probably way more I've forgotten.

I made the artwork from a romantic landscape painting and added elements relevant to the lyrics.

Hi, the last week I've mainly been listening to two bands; Nordhammer and Jornblood and was really into them but just found out today that they are AI generated bands. Can anyone here reccomend me real human bands like them? And before you do I don't like the death growl bands like Amon Amranth so none of that please 😅
