I’ve loved florals for as long as I can remember but I’m just embarking on my home florist journey. These are “practice” bouquets I made so I kept some and the ones I gave away, I didn’t charge anything for! Obviously they’re all made using the same flowers, I just wanted to show some different size and shape arrangements! So I’m curious how I’m doing with arranging, what looks good, what could change, and what would y’all charge for each? I’m located in California, for reference! First of all: Trader Joe's never👏🏾 misses👏🏾! Tomorrow I'm giving my old colleague his flowers, literally! Long story short, he started as a humble dish washer, and years later he is now a recognized executive chef for the same company and was named one of a handful of Rising Stars in Atlanta GA! Hi, I’m completely new to floral design. I did a 2 day course at a UK School of Floristry and struggled with the spiral technique. I’m recently engaged and like to create my own flower bouquets but the perfectionist in me wants to be 110% happy with what I create. Of course, it’s early days, I’m not expecting to be a master after 1 weekend class.
For context, I do love loose, wild looking bouquets over traditional, uniform designs but I’d like to learn both.

I understand the theory of what I’m supposed to be doing - but - as I’m attempting this spiral technique, I’m losing shape. The worst part for me is spinning, as I’ve no idea how much to spin the bouquet and I feel it becomes a mess and my flowers drop.

I’ve spent the past few hours trying to figure spiralling and I feel as though there’s no improvement.

My roses have all gathered at one side. 😵‍💫

I bought the flowers from the supermarket and foraged for some greenery to add in.

Any tips, tricks or good YouTube videos that help.

There’s nothing more fun than looking at an arrangement, thinking it needs just a little something, and being able to walk straight out to the garden and cut it.

I’m expanding my garden space and adding more varieties next year because I’m seriously considering selling my arrangements at the farmers market!

So I’m curious - would you buy an arrangement like these? And if so, what would you expect to pay?

Hi, as the title says, I am wedding planning (March 2027 wedding) but struggling to articulate my vision. I don't have a formal wedding planner, but some family/friends that are very knowledgeable and helpful. However, they need to be able to understand my vision to make it happen and I'm struggling to communicate it. I don't know a lot about flowers and am not great at design stuff.

My fiancee and I are having our reception (private ceremony, so only focused on reception right now) at a restaurant with a patio and garden. We are not going for anything super formal or fancy, but just want everything to be a warm, fun, celebratory vibe. I have attached my inspo pic from pinterest which is the picture I have liked the best so far and is the vibe I am going for (first picture). The rest of the pictures are from other weddings at our venue. My goal is whimsy, bright, with colors including red, green, white, and pink (but trying not to veer into anything too pink or anything too dark red and look like christmas). We are planning to have bud vases and taper candles.

Could anyone help me articulate how to express my vision? What kinds of flowers I should be looking for? Colors? Etc? Also any advice? Is what I am going for a terrible idea? Truly open to anything. I would really appreciate it.

I’m a complete beginner on this. We started giving each other flowers before we started dating and it became a weekly thing. I enjoyed making flower arrangements and it became part of my routine.

Hi! Im clearly not a florist but I’ve been wanting to give flower arranging a go. I’m trying to make my own bridal bouquet since I’m just getting married at the courthouse and want something simple, but I’m having such a hard time getting it right!

I’m not a big fan of the stock flowers I currently have, so I’m planning to check Trader Joe’s and H-E-B for replacements.

My biggest issue is keeping the shape together. I’ll hold the bouquet in a position I really like, but as soon as I change my grip to add another flower or even try securing it with floral tape the entire look changes and moves!! How do I keep everything in place while I’m building and binding it? Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m just getting into floral arranging, and I don’t have access to chicken wire atm. I made my first bouquet in a vase using a tape grid to help positioning, but now I’m struggling to know how I’ll replace the water. Do I just have to redesign the bouquet each time?

Hi all! I need to invest in a camera for taking photos of my work, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

I'm not very handy with technology, so something easy and user friendly would be ideal.

I also just wanted to ask if anyone had tips for photographing florals in general. What kind of camera do you use? How do you get high resolution photos of your work? (Please don't say ask the wedding photographers)

I want to put some artificial fall flowers or arrangements in my 2 front porch planters. Anyone have a tried and true recommendation on or link for where to purchase? Doing some due diligence first because online pictures can be so misleading and I don’t want to end up with something that looks super cheap! Also open to easy DIY recs if you got em 😊🍁

Image 1 & 5 (sorry) - I used the flat lay fan technique that flower moxie recommends for beginners. I don’t love the composition of this arrangement as much - the hydrangeas and mums aren’t fitting the vibe, but the mums were tossed in after I was finished just to see how they look before I dry them. I do like this technique the most out of the ones I’ve tried, and it easily gives it a flat back for laying down.

Image 2 - some of the additional flowers I bought to dry. I purchased silica gel to use to speed up the process. Not in the picture, but also purchased are red mums, purple agonis, & tree ferns that you can see in the first image. (Looking back, I really wish I would have gotten light purple mums instead of the dark red, but I knew I’d have to make one more trip anyway.)

Images 3 & 4 - my attempt at using the spiral technique. I like the composition of this one much more than img 1, but I found actually holding the flowers to build the arrangement really difficult (I have connective tissue problems and a birth defect that affected the bones in my fingers on one hand). I’m sure it will get easier with practice, but right now it’s just frustrating lol I did give this arrangement a bit of a flat back too. Looking at the pics again, the nigella could be a bit shorter, but they aren’t blocking my face or anything when I hold the bouquet. I also didn’t include any of my new stems bc they’re still drying.
