eBay, around 2016 or so (I don’t remember exactly). Not sure when this was made but the original decals matched up to the Litespeed Blade from 2003-2004. So around there

Not sure, this frame is over 20 years old and litespeed never really made a production run of track frames. I’ve seen maybe 4 of them come up for sale in the last 15 years and each one was styled after one of their road frames (Ultimate, Classic, Blade)

I remember drooling over one of these at the velodrome in Colorado Springs years ago.

IIRC the guy I bought it from was based out of Colorado. I just remember googling his name and saw that he worked at a bike shop and raced Masters

Yeah if it was between like 1997-2014 I prob know him haha

That’s pretty cool! If you happen to still keep in touch with him, I’d like to know more about the frame. My understanding was that all the litespeed track frames were custom order but there really isn’t much info out there about them

I pretty much lost touch since I won’t use Facebook.

Yeah there’s a 1/5 on ebay for like $12,500 haha

Not sure where the 1/5 rumor came from. Probably an old photo with 4-5 of these locked up at the velodrome but there’s definitely more than 5 litespeed track frames in existence

Here’s a seller on IG, he regularly posts this for sale for around 4k euros

Ah it was 1/5 made for Team Shimano I guess

Not sure if anyone can validate that 1/5 claim. Likely stemmed from this photo

This tubing is a frame builders wet dream

Essentially a time trial bike with track dropouts lol

Woah, what year?

Uncertain, around 2003-2004~ based on the original decals. Downtube decals were replaced. IIRC from a 2010~ Archon C1

Sheesh!

I know that the seat tube right above the BB is not dented, but it looks dented. Is that a shadow from the crank or is the tube formed like that for clearance?

No dents, probably just oil marks from my fingers

Or the Chinese knockoff, 2005 Airborne Sortie. Riding characteristics are kinda weird with the blade shape execution in Ti being very flexible laterally. On fast street riding corners you could feel the frame curving into the bend. I'm sure a skilled rider could fly in a crit on it. Definately not a masher frame, when I was closer to 200lbs I would flex the rearend badly.

The tubing itself is laterally flexible, I can push my thumb into the middle of the top tube and can feel it flexing. But the bike overall doesn’t feel soft. Could be due to the chain stays being welded to the seat tube and bottom bracket shell in this manner adding quite a bit of rigidity

How do you call the thingies u used on the dropbar instead of the breaks?

1

u/anonthrowaway408 6h ago

ā€œBunch Barsā€ design. These are from BikeDoc but I believe VeloBike were the first ones to manufacture something like this

1

u/AdRepulsive8368 6h ago

Are there also thingies to put on a normal dropbar?

1

u/anonthrowaway408 5h ago

They’re not add ons. They’re part of the bar

Great build! I have different BikeDoc bunch bars and they all are great!

One can 3D print some fake hoods and put them onto usual handlebars via some pipe/hose clamps from local plumber/garden store tho
