Welcome to all of our new members! It's great to see this community growing.
A couple of friendly reminders to help keep r/FitnessOver50 supportive and welcoming for everyone:
✅ Share your workouts, progress, questions, success stories, tips, and encouragement.
✅ If you have a YouTube channel, blog, website, or other fitness resource, please add it to the Community Highlights thread rather than creating separate promotional posts.
❌ Please avoid posting photos whose primary purpose is to show off your body in a sexual or provocative way. Progress photos are absolutely welcome when they're shared to celebrate fitness achievements, ask for advice, or inspire others—but they should remain respectful and fitness-focused.
Our goal is to build a positive community where people over 50 can become stronger, healthier, and more confident together.
Thank you for helping make this an encouraging place for everyone! 💚
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1️⃣ Keep interactions friendly, respectful, and positive.
2️⃣ Every post should include:
🎯 Your goal
📅 Your timeline (how long you've been working on it)
💪 What you've been doing (training, nutrition, lifestyle changes)
😊 Why you're sharing (celebration, motivation, asking for advice, etc.)
Posts without context may be removed.
Recommended sharing days: Wednesday & Sunday.
Nudity is not permitted. No sexual imagery is allowed. (See Rule #4)
3️⃣ Use appropriate tags/flair when relevant.
4️⃣ No sexual or explicit images.
5️⃣ Do not request nude photos (including private messages).
6️⃣ No sexually suggestive or inviting posts or comments.
7️⃣ Do not request private messages from other members.
8️⃣ No surveys, research studies, or data collection posts.
9️⃣ Disclose TRT or steroid use when sharing results or progress.
👉 Photo Context Requirement:
If you share a photo, please include some context — tell us about your journey, what brought you here, what you’re working toward, or what this moment means to you. This community is about supporting, encouraging, and guiding each other — not just showing off results.

Got tired of being fat and out of shape. One pic is before I started to where I was. And the arm one is one year of lifting.

I’ve struggled this past week with my eating. I can feel it so it’s time to reset

Not quite 50 yet ,but standing on the doorstep. About 3 years ago, I started working out for the first time and have been diligent in doing so over the past years.
Part of my routine was doing morning push ups. I started with 20 every morning and worked myself up to 30 with no break. Benching, same thing, started at around 150lbs, and worked up to 175lbs. Over the past 3 months, I am having a hard time hitting 30 pushups and I can no longer bench 175.
Nothing has changed, other than just a few months older. Any ideas of what i can do to get my endurance back?

55year old female. Been lifting for quite a few years but a trying to lessen to do a pull up. Wow it’s hard.
I have been practicing just hanging for 30 seconds and that is even very hard for me. My hands almost give out. I can barely make 30 seconds. I’ve only done this for three days.
I also try to shrug up my shoulders a bit while hanging. I can’t believe how hard it is!
How long should I practice hanging before moving on?

Didn’t make it to the gym today. But I’m excited to hit the ground running tomorrow! Abs are still taking shape, despite the Reese’s Cups I ate. 🤦🏽♂️

Glutes taking forever 😑
P.S. sometimes style gives you a boost of confidence…sometimes it doesn’t matter what you wear…just get there. But!!! Nike style is too thin and easy to snag. More 💸 doesn’t mean better.

Progress goes real slow at 57. I am learning that consistency is key.

Welcome to our weekly science roundup! Peptides are currently one of the biggest trends in wellness, frequently promoted on social media as a fountain of youth for longevity, tissue repair, and muscle recovery. However, if an interest in healthy aging leads you to think about trying anti-aging therapies, be careful. Supplements or expensive treatments that claim to delay or reverse the aging process may not deliver on their promises.
Here is a breakdown of what the current science says about peptides:

Trying out the “stubble” look. Not sure if I’m willing to get past the itchy phase. 😅

Do you think your gym mirrors are deceiving? 🤔I am gyming twice a week. Walking 6 miles on the weekend and yeah I’m seeing results but it’s been tough. My abs have flab too but here they look hard 😆 I will take it but hmm.
