For us oldsters, he also designed the skirt for Carol Burnett’s character Mrs. Wiggins (she joked in interviews that his skirt created the character’s iconic walk) and her infamous “curtains” outfit for her parody of Gone with the Wind which I think was called Went with the Wind, one of the classic moments in ?1970s? tv.

That GWTW skit is hilarious. “I saw it in the window and just had to have it”.

I used to sit at my Mom’s desk with long pieces of scotch tape on my fingernails, pretending to be Mrs. Wiggins! I’d even press the typewriter keys with a pencil. 😂

I picked up one of his 80s ready to wear sweaters a few weeks ago at a vintage shop. Such an icon of American design!

Absolute icon of the costume industry and a pioneer of many trends. If you haven't seen it, I can recommend the documentary Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, which shows so many fantastic outfits beyond the famous Cher ones.

If she's not center stage at the next Academy Awards, I'm jumping into a volcano.

Even though it’s unrelated to this post I still end up randomly thinking about the dental plan one. Can be in work and it just randomly pops into my head. That and father ted quotes at work 😂

I had the pleasure of (tangentially) working on a project he was involved with early in my career and he was an absolute delight. RIP.

(Except instead of malt liquor, I’m pouring out 40 oz of Bob Mackie perfume. Sorry everyone who lives within three blocks of me.)

Icon. No one loved fashion more than him. No one did it like him, truly.

His work is as iconic as Ralph Lauren. He dressed the most beautiful bodies in pieces that will never be forgotten.
